One-Eyed Monster
Chapter 1397 - 1394: The Arrival of the Dark Night (Part 2)
After Igor voiced the trouble that had been bottled up inside, he felt noticeably relieved. This is a very normal phenomenon; when emotions are pent up, they naturally need to be expressed, or else a person might be overwhelmed.
Xiso acted like a doctor for once, helping Igor stand back up.
Having shared his worries, Igor felt somewhat reborn. Although he wasn't fully recovered, he was about seventy to eighty percent of the way there.
Previously, Igor had been under intense pressure, binding himself up so tightly that he nearly broke down. If it hadn't been for Princess Juliette and Prince Charles noticing, he might have already collapsed from overexertion.
He exerted himself too harshly, always wanting to offer help in everything, always trying to provide support. He used this busyness to numb himself, to smile and tread lightly. It was this kind of rhythm that left him so lost when he suddenly had nothing to do.
Because of his unusual state, the Guardian Army and the Kangen Family refused his help, as no one wanted someone who helps by making things worse...
This was also for Igor's own good; they didn't want a youth like him to fall because of this. Everyone could see that Igor had something unique—his innocence and persistence were things that none of them possessed. They did not want such precious qualities to disappear; they wished to protect them well.
"Sigh!" Igor sighed, releasing his inner conflict, and felt much more relaxed, but this relaxation quickly brought about physical fatigue, a side effect of his previous overexertion. It couldn't be blamed on Igor.
"What you need to do now is rest properly. Don't overextend yourself; we still need you for many things later!" Xiso said as he continued to search for something in this shared graveyard, examining carefully.
"I can manage for now. By the way, Senior Xiso, what are you doing here?" Only at this point did Igor remember to ask.
"I'm here looking for clues." Seeing that Igor could still stand steadily, Xiso understood that the young man wasn't that fragile, so he didn't force him to rest but let him observe from the side.
"What clues are you looking for?" Igor asked, wanting to know why they were searching in this cemetery.
"Kuyi Tulan once fought with that shadow ghost here. Such events are rare, and they surely left some traces. That's what I'm looking for, among other things." Xiso didn't find Igor bothersome and slowly answered his questions.
"But it's already been cleaned up. The Kangen Family took everything back for analysis, didn't they?" Igor was interested in this matter.
"You're right, but any speculation requires more details. Even the most meticulous person can't achieve perfection without any oversight; only by continually repeating can we discover things!"
This statement greatly benefited Igor as he realized that many achievements weren't due to talent and speed alone; sometimes, they were the result of monotonous repetition.
Although he still couldn't discern anything special about the graveyard or appreciate whether Kuyi Tulan and his team left any traces, he continued to watch Xiso slowly explore.
"Their battle must have been intense, right?" Xiso walked slowly past the tombs. Igor vaguely recalled that it was where the Soul Guardians used to be, facing off against the living dead for a long time.
"Kuyi Tulan was very restrained, hiding much of his nature!"
Xiso's words left Igor puzzled because, even though he hadn't experienced the entire process, he had at least seen the scene where Kuyi Tulan devoured the shadow ghost…
Xiso was there then, too, so why was he saying this now? It was completely abnormal!
"Often, people are misled by appearances. Kuyi Tulan is truly someone who is drawn to the darkness."
"Why do you say that?" Igor was confused.
"Do you really think Kuyi Tulan is just as he appears?" Xiso asked.
"Isn't he? An ambitious guy, though he seems very young."
"No, Igor, he's very good at hiding himself. We've all been deceived by him."
"Huh?" Igor didn't understand what Xiso meant.
"He's someone who pursues darkness, indifferent to our fates, only caring about achieving his own goals." Xiso looked into the distance.
"Yeah, he's selfish; we've all experienced that." Igor thought Xiso was merely reiterating a known fact.
"That's just one aspect," Xiso said. "You need to observe closely; only through repeated observation can you find clues and make discoveries."
Igor somewhat understood but still followed Xiso's advice to observe carefully.
Then he became unsettled!
Every tomb in this shared graveyard bore traces left by Kuyi Tulan, as if they had all been excavated.
This... this phenomenon was truly bizarre.
"Why is this happening!" Igor asked in confusion, humbly seeking Xiso's guidance on the situation.
"Kuyi Tulan had been investigating the shadow ghost early on; he was performing a facade in front of us!" Xiso said.
"This..." Igor was baffled. Why was it this way? What benefit did Kuyi Tulan gain from this!
"His intention might just have been to numb us, making us think he knew less about everything than we did, but his ultimate goal is still unknown to me." Xiso was not too certain about the situation either.
"You mean he excavated these tombs early on just to understand the shadow ghost?"
"Exactly, that's his true nature, a person with dark tendencies!" Xiso said calmly.
Igor looked into the distance; the gloom was intensifying, as if signaling them of an impending dark night, where shadows would engulf the whole world…
Kuyi Tulan was indeed so dark.
Igor thought of Kuyi Tulan's malignancy, but not to this extent… He was somewhat unable to accept it all at once.
