One-Eyed Monster
Chapter 1393 - 1390: Doubt (Part 2)
Milo's shock came from the words Kadi spoke.
Because Kadi's words mentioned Grand Master Guzan, who happened to be Milo's mentor.
Hearing his mentor's teachings from someone else left Milo feeling quite uncomfortable.
Milo's expression darkened, and he felt very ashamed. Not only did he just question Kadi, but also because of a growing estrangement from his mentor. His relationship with Kuyi Tulan forced him to abandon this connection.
"Anyway, I won't steal your canoe. Leaving you alone on this island is really a disgraceful act."
Kadi's words made Milo feel even worse, as if they were directly targeting him, humiliating him.
They left Kadi alone on this island, completely ignoring him, which truly was a shameful act.
"Master Guzan has always been quite merciful. He believes that even if others treat me like dirt, I should treat them sincerely. One cannot be too selfish or too heartless. I really find this reasoning sound."
Milo's face alternated between red and pale. As the chief disciple of Master Guzan, being schooled by a creature using his mentor's teachings was indeed unpleasant.
"Enough talk, you wouldn't understand anyway." Kadi spread his hands, accustomed to such situations. Only Igor could truly understand his feelings. This might be what a confidant is.
"Sigh, I am very ashamed…" Milo said, as the previous events struck him like lightning, leaving him trembling.
Suddenly, Milo felt like he had abandoned many things, yet this island helped him rediscover some of them. These things are not easy for others to comprehend.
"Let's talk business. You're here to torture me again, right? Under Kuyi Tulan's orders?" After his meal, Kadi returned to the main topic, never forgetting the adversarial status between him and Milo, despite having a decent impression of Milo.
Milo choked on these words, as the change in topic was too abrupt to adapt to.
After all, Milo had been in a state of guilt, and the sudden return to this state was quite unpleasant.
"Um…" Milo stammered, not knowing how to respond.
"Why hide anything from me? Kuyi Tulan's ambitions have long been exposed. I don't understand why you never see that." Kadi chuckled, adeptly handling this on the island and adapting well to Milo's approach.
Milo stared blankly at the blue creature, unsure of how to answer at the moment.
Kuyi Tulan is the chief of the Alchemy Workshop, and Milo agreed wholeheartedly with every one of his arrangements. Speaking of Kuyi Tulan's ambition, Milo really hadn't sensed it, even now, he still thinks Kuyi Tulan is striving for a noble ideal.
Of course, upon reaching Vero Realm, he felt a bit estranged from the chief, but he was assigned to study this blue Kadi here, so he didn't take those minor matters to heart.
"The chief is fighting for a noble ideal, not what you imagine." Milo defended Kuyi Tulan.
"Even now, you speak for him. I find it incredulous. Milo, you've been brainwashed, haven't you!" Kadi shook his head helplessly.
"Why do you say that?" Milo asked for the first time, intrigued by such statements, questioning Kadi further.
"Oh, haha, you suddenly grew curious." Kadi, curious himself, wondered why Milo got interested in this topic now.
In fact, Milo's interior had swayed slightly, as upon arriving in Vero Realm, he didn't quite understand many occurring events.
The Gaoju Family's story, many had heard of it, yet in the whole Yowein Continent, the family wasn't well-reputed. When Milo saw the family kneeling collectively before Kuyi Tulan, he felt a slight abnormality.
"I just find many things slightly surprising, which leaves me confused."
"You weren't confused when you first came here!" Kadi teased, clueless as to Milo's sudden interest.
When it comes to recounting Kuyi Tulan's misdeeds, Kadi feels he's most suited, having lived with the Guru Mountain creatures long enough to hear countless tales of Kuyi Tulan's various vices.
Kadi sees Kuyi Tulan's actions as self-serving without any noble ideals; those claims were mere justifications.
But folks like Milo are unaware, leaving Kadi puzzled. After some time spent with Milo, Kadi discovered that those Golden Seats had been brainwashed by Kuyi Tulan…
"Kuyi Tulan is such a selfish person, never considering others' feelings."
"Why do you say that!" Milo expressed dissent against Kadi's claim.
"Are you naive? Haven't you figured out what he's up to?"
"The chief just pursues power, aiming to enhance our combat capabilities."
"Enhancing your combat capabilities, I ask you, what's the reason behind this enhancement? Wasn't it initially to defend the Kayne Empire!"
"That's right, because you haven't been to the battlefield, you don't know its brutality, we must continuously strengthen ourselves to minimize…"
"Every battlefield is brutal, spare the pointless words. Think again, are you still defending the Kayne Empire now!" Kadi's question held strength, stumping Milo.
Indeed, they left the Kayne Empire long ago, defense was no longer applicable…
"Look again at what he did to Simon and the others. Did he consider everyone, or was it all for himself? Without the great mentor, what would have happened to Simon and the others!"
Kadi's words became increasingly weighty.
"I won't delve deeper, time has passed, focus on recent matters. Remember reaching Vero Realm, haven't you experienced his relentless cruelty?" Kadi remarked.
This sentence once again shocked Milo, his mind swayed, making Kuyi Tulan seem as Kadi described…
