One-Eyed Monster
Chapter 1346 - 1343: Rescue
The mood of the Kangen Family was instantly stirred up by those few words from their patriarch.
Obviously, they were going to rescue the king! For something like this, their blood was naturally boiling.
Whether Kuyi Tulan was controlled by some kind of Soul Devourer or not, they had already confirmed that this person was an enemy, and everything done in the whole Alchemy Workshop offensive was wrong!
So the worries they had before no longer existed. There was no way they'd be taken for traitors. They were attacking the palace for the sake of rescuing the king.
They'd already thought ahead to the stage of storming the king's palace. This kind of thing was very sensitive, but now they no longer cared.
With their emotions fully roused, the Kangen Family had fallen into a kind of frenzy; it was as if all the fatigue they'd felt before had suddenly vanished from their bodies.
Everyone now felt they could do something for the king, and that had them very excited.
Igor was quite unused to this situation. After all, he'd never served in the army; all of this was still very unfamiliar to him. A family like the Kangens, with half a military's bloodline, naturally twisted into a single rope the moment they heard a slogan; this kind of focus and strength was something very special.
"Now that everyone's twisted into one rope, I really feel out of place," Igor said to Kadi beside him.
"Even so, it's obvious their efficiency is really high!" Kadi was a bit dazed by the scene before him.
"True. Our message will be out in no time, and I wonder how Perkins and the others will react when they receive it."
"No matter how they react, we're going to be very busy. Right now we still have to go to Princess Juliette." Kadi said.
They had already discussed this beforehand. The Kangen Family would be in charge of persuading other organizations and families, and they themselves would be responsible for attacking the royal palace, since the king's League Guards were not an easy organization to deal with. As for Igor and Kadi, they would go with Bigas to meet Princess Juliette; apparently the princess had new arrangements regarding certain matters.
Igor and Kadi were quite agreeable to this arrangement, and they were more than happy to visit Princess Juliette's park again.
Right now everyone was busy, Bayes Avenue was solemn and hushed, while all of Xinbal was like a pot of water about to boil over, roiling nonstop.
Every organization had its own plans; they were all being drawn in by what was happening at the cemetery. This was very important to them, but seeing the Kangen Family get a head start left them more than a little uncomfortable.
Igor and Kadi quietly slipped away, following Bigas and Biggs as they headed to Princess Juliette.
Bigas's coldness directly kept the other organizations at arm's length, so their departure was relatively quiet.
After a few turns, they arrived at the gate of Princess Juliette's garden. The trees here were as lush as ever, only when they arrived the trees automatically parted, forming a path to guide them.
Bigas and the others followed the guiding flowers step by step. This was one of Princess Juliette's abilities: communicating with plants gave her a position of command over the flowers, grasses, and trees.
Before long, Bigas and the others came to a small pavilion. Inside, Princess Juliette was standing with one hand on her belly, gazing into the distance.
"Greetings, Your Highness!" Everyone bowed; they still held Princess Juliette in great respect.
"There's no need for so much ceremony, we meet again!" Princess Juliette rose from the stool.
"Your Highness, you really should take better care of your body!" Kadi said at once.
Igor looked at Kadi in surprise. He suddenly realized Kadi had become very different—this guy had actually started caring about people.
Princess Juliette smiled gently. "You've changed a lot. Especially you, Kadi."
"Uh, have I…?" Kadi was quite taken aback.
"I think you have, hahaha." Igor laughed, and the atmosphere instantly relaxed.
"I really haven't noticed it myself!" Kadi scratched his head.
"You've both changed a great deal. Ever since we parted last time, I feel you've become very different!" Biggs chimed in from the side.
"Uh, the Great Witch has changed a lot too!" Igor replied.
"All right, let's skip the small talk. We should talk business." Bigas said seriously. Even in front of Princess Juliette she remained very cold. But anyone could see she had a lot on her mind.
Bigas's words made the lively atmosphere turn solemn in an instant. Igor and the others stopped joking with each other and stopped making small talk. They all chose to face everything in silence.
"Mm, just as Sage Bigas said, we should talk about serious matters."
"Yes, yes, whatever Your Highness needs, just say the word!" Kadi immediately chimed in, clearly much more smooth-tongued now.
This really shocked Igor, because he had never noticed Kadi learning this sort of thing anywhere. It was as if Kadi had come by this reaction naturally.
Still, this version of Kadi felt more grounded, and Igor quite liked it.
"It's not about giving orders. Right now we're all tied to the same rope. Our ancestors' will was for us to guard this realm. Now that this realm is under threat, I must offer my own resistance."
"Your Highness, we already have intel on the enemy, it's just…" Igor trailed off.
"Mm, I've just grasped what you were talking about as well. Plants move much faster than you. Now that the Alchemy Workshop has been taken over, the Mail Birds are useless; we can only rely on these plants."
"Your Highness, we should take the Alchemy Workshop back!" Kadi said. He and Igor were particularly fired up at this moment.
Bigas and Biggs barely spoke. They knew many things weren't as simple as they sounded. The Alchemy Workshop wasn't some item you could just 'take back' because you said so.
"That's exactly what I wanted to discuss with all of you this time. We have to save this realm, save everyone." Princess Juliette said softly.
"But the power of the Alchemy Workshop is spread across the entire country. The forces we can actually command are pitifully few!" Bigas said. For someone as cold as her, there was even a trace of helplessness in her voice; it seemed the difficulty of the situation had surpassed her expectations.
"We are not alone, Bigas." Princess Juliette looked at her with gentle eyes.
"Your Highness, I understand what you mean, but for now we don't even know if we can successfully enter the royal palace. Even if the League Guards have become Puppets, they're still first-rate Fighters and Soldiers. It's bound to be a bitter battle over there."
