One-Eyed Monster
Chapter 1289 - 1285: Willpower (Part 2)
In this dark basement, Kuyi Tulan could clearly see the expression on Xiso's face.
He had already devoured Willem, and he possessed all of Willem's memories, which was his advantage.
He came here to tell Xiso a few things, but not solely to share information; he also needed to acquire something from Xiso.
Previously, he greatly desired the Spirit Core from all the Guru Mountain Monsters, but now it's no longer necessary because the Spirit Core is trivial to him. It's something he can easily form by slight integration.
He values Xiso's body, that modified figure which suddenly erupted with an astonishing power. This desiccated skin could corrode everything, turning all into nothingness.
How this power formed is unknown to Kuyi Tulan, and he is eager to use this power to uncover its secrets.
Additionally, he wishes to obtain a sense of willpower from Xiso.
Now, Kuyi Tulan believes everything is obtainable.
"I'm curious, how did the willpower within you come to be? Despite enduring so much suffering, how is it that your persistence has never wavered?"
Xiso sneered at Kuyi Tulan's question.
"Do you want to know the answer, Kuyi Tulan?"
"I do want to know the answer; it's a key reason I came to you this time. The world is changing, many things should be discarded, yet you people have never given up."
"I understand what you mean, but what you do isn't human," Xiso continued to mock Kuyi Tulan, even though Kuyi Tulan was much stronger.
"I've never threatened you, even when I knew the whereabouts of Bigas, I didn't use that to threaten you, did I?" Kuyi Tulan's tone was calm, yet filled with an implied threat.
"You, Kuyi Tulan, I'm telling you, if you dare to touch a hair on Bigas, I won't spare you even if I go to the Eternal Tranquility Realm!"
"I've said before, I've never threatened you, haven't I?" Kuyi Tulan persisted in his unhurried tone. To him, everything was under his control, and he relished in this feeling of controlling everything.
"You!"
Clearly, Xiso was enraged; indeed, everyone loses control in the face of love, even someone known as a strategist like Xiso.
Kuyi Tulan quietly enjoyed it all, wondering if Xiso's determination would remain intact under such circumstances.
"I don't threaten others; I provide help. I can find Bigas for you and offer her protection, but I'm an Alchemist and adhere to the principle of Equivalent Exchange, so you must give me something."
"Don't you dare plot anything for Bigas!" Xiso nearly roared.
"Your lover is being hunted down, oh, you may not know who is pursuing her. I can tell you now." Kuyi Tulan didn't care what Xiso said, he continued with his plan, slowly leading Xiso into the trap.
Now Kuyi Tulan enjoyed this feeling of controlling everything, it was simply too marvelous for him.
Xiso gritted his teeth, unconcerned about his own harm but deeply concerned about Bigas. He was anxious, even if Bigas suffered a bit of grievance.
At this moment, with Kuyi Tulan's maneuvering, his emotions were extremely angry and impatient.
This might be the power of love.
"Bigas! What did you do to Bigas!"
"Me? I've done nothing. I've said, I don't deceive or threaten, I merely know information related to her and use it for an exchange with you. It's a very fair thing."
"What exactly do you want, Kuyi Tulan?"
"To communicate peacefully, to exchange, that's what I want!" Kuyi Tulan said. He wanted to acquire something and prove something; he had so much tied to him that needed gradual verification...
"Tell me, what happened to Bigas."
"As a trade-off, you must also answer my question." Kuyi Tulan said calmly.
"Ask away!" Xiso was quite concerned about Bigas.
"The willpower within you all, why is it always so strong? What influences you?" Kuyi Tulan's question was very broad, almost aimless, and most people would find it difficult to understand.
"Willpower is a manifestation of our spiritual life. People like you lack spiritual support, and naturally have no willpower. To you, the entire world is merely a field of power." Xiso answered dismissively.
"Your willpower is your spiritual life?" Kuyi Tulan pursued relentlessly.
"You should tell me about Bigas now!" Xiso began to haggle.
"Oh, I almost forgot. Let me tell you, Bigas is being chased by a group in the Soul Guardian Team, known as the Reaper."
Upon hearing Kuyi Tulan's words, Xiso began to worry about Bigas's safety.
In the past, he fought desperately for Bigas and finally found a route for her to escape, but never thought she'd be targeted again so swiftly.
"As a trade-off, you must continue answering my question." Kuyi Tulan said.
"I have nothing else to tell you; stop wasting your time on me." Xiso said furiously, struggling, seemingly attempting to break free from the constraints of the cage.
"You can't leave here, you can't see the sunlight, the sunlight will cause you to vanish."
"Vanish if I must; I intend to leave here. I have things I need to do!"
Kuyi Tulan looked bewildered; he didn't understand why Xiso would react like this. The information provided hadn't persuaded Xiso, but instead intensified his rebellious spirit.
"Why? Why do you always have such a strong willpower? Don't you know how to yield or give up?"
"You're an Alchemist, naturally inclined to conquer everything and create new things. Even on the battlefield, you'll never change this, you'll always retreat or surrender at the right moment, it's your habit."
"Choosing to submit in the face of strength is a perfectly normal thing!" Kuyi Tulan persisted.
"On the battlefield, there's no retreat; even in defeat, it's a defeat charged into the enemy's camp." Xiso had once served as an advisor in the Empire's military camp, possessing a soldier's spirit, even in the face of death they'd never step back.
"I hope my team can also possess such willpower; I came here to take away your willpower." Kuyi Tulan said lightly.
"Too bad, you can't take it away." Xiso's visage distorted, for this is something that belongs to us individually!
Crunch, the sound of chains breaking echoed, and the atmosphere in the entire basement instantly became tense...
