Necromancer: I Am A Disaster
Chapter 908: Since I’m Here, I Might As Well Take A Look
Lin Moyu studied the trading specialist before him, Lin Xiaoyu. Her appearance, expression, and bearing were quite similar to the Lin Xiaoyu he had met at the Mission Center.
Lin Xiaoyu and Lin Xiaoyu [1]. Their names differed by only a single character.
Noticing that Lin Moyu remained silent, Lin Xiaoyu wisely refrained from idle chatter. Instead, she poured him a cup of steaming tea.
A delicate fragrance soon filled the trading room.
"Senior Lin, please enjoy some tea." She said softly.
Taking a seat, Lin Moyu asked, "Do you have a sister?"
Lin Xiaoyu smiled brightly, "Senior Lin, have you met Xiaoyu?"
Lin Moyu nodded, "I just came from the Mission Center."
"Xiaoyu is my younger sister."
She offered no further explanation, and Lin Moyu didn't press the matter.
Still, he was already certain the sisters were dispatched by some great family.
Qiu Yan was the same.
Every great family had its own method of nurturing its younger generation.
Those sent out early to gain experience in the outside world were typically the most gifted talents of their families.
"How do we proceed with the transaction?" Lin Moyu asked.
Lin Xiaoyu pointed to a palm-sized disc resting on the edge of the table, "Senior Lin, simply take out the Starfire Metal and place it here."
The disc was engraved with a formation that glowed faintly as it operated.
Lin Xiaoyu already knew how much Starfire Metal he possessed, yet she still instructed him to use the disc. Clearly, it was no ordinary item.
Lin Moyu took out a thousand-catties block of Starfire Metal and placed it on the disc.
The formation immediately flared with brilliant light. Bathed in the radiance, the Starfire Metal rapidly shrank before disappearing.
Lin Moyu instantly realized the disc contained a storage space.
"Please don't worry, Senior Lin." Lin Xiaoyu explained, "A spatial formation was incorporated during its refinement, giving it an exceptionally large internal space."
Without hesitation, Lin Moyu took out the rest of the Starfire Metal and tossed it onto the disc.
The formation shone even more brightly. The disc seemed to possess limitless capacity, swallowing every piece he threw onto it without exception.
Once he had emptied his entire supply of Starfire Metal, Lin Xiaoyu said, "The total comes to 71,860 catties. Let's round it up to 72,000 catties, which is worth 7,200 points."
"Are you satisfied with that, Senior Lin?"
Lin Moyu gave a slight nod, "That'll do."
A radiant smile spread across Lin Xiaoyu's face. She lightly tapped the disc, and the glowing formation immediately dimmed.
"The transaction is complete."
Her clear voice marked the end of the exchange.
At the same moment, Lin Moyu received his points.
[Points: 8,446 (1,250)]
The first number represented his total points.
The number in parentheses represented points earned through missions, which could be used to upgrade his level of authority.
Once the latter reached 10,000, he would be eligible to advance to level 3 authority.
At only 1,250 points, however, he still had a long way to go.
Level 2 missions awarded anywhere from 50 to 200 points, meaning he would need to complete a considerable number of them.
Looking at Lin Xiaoyu, Lin Moyu said, "I have a question."
"Please ask, Senior Lin. As long as I know the answer, I'll tell you everything." Lin Xiaoyu maintained a humble attitude.
Lin Moyu knew that, despite his current strength, he was likely insignificant compared to the background of Lin Xiaoyu's family.
Yet neither she nor her younger sister had shown the slightest trace of arrogance.
They had clearly been raised with exceptional discipline.
"I'd like to know if there's any way to raise my level of authority quickly." Lin Moyu asked.
Lin Xiaoyu answered without hesitation, "By completing missions, of course."
Lin Moyu took a sip of tea and shook his head, "I know that. I mean, besides completing missions."
She shook her head, "There isn't. Completing missions is the only way. The Human Emperor Network's supervision is extremely strict."
A trace of disappointment crossed Lin Moyu's face. There really was no shortcut. He would have to follow the rules.
The Human Emperor Network governed the entire human domain.
Finding a loophole in such a system was extremely difficult.
Lin Xiaoyu said gently, "Actually, doing missions isn't so bad. You gain experience, improve your cultivation, and the missions issued by the Human Emperor Network are generally free of life-threatening danger."
Lin Moyu smiled faintly, "Thank you. I understand."
Just then, Lin Xiaoyu's eyes lit up, "Oh, wait. There is another way."
"Oh?" Lin Moyu's eyes lit up slightly, "Tell me."
"You can earn points by killing members of the other races on the frontlines." She hesitated before saying.
"The points are equivalent to those earned from missions and can also be used to raise your level of authority."
"But the frontlines are extremely dangerous. Besides, with your current level of authority, you wouldn't even be able to get there, Senior."
A level 2 authority permitted travel within only a twenty-light-year radius.
The nearest border of the human domain, however, lay more than five hundred light-years away.
Of course, Lin Moyu could attempt the journey on his own.
But even aboard the Godslaying Fortress, crossing such a distance would take an extremely long time.
It was a solution in name only.
Lin Xiaoyu continued, "Even if you managed to reach the frontlines, you still wouldn't be allowed onto the battlefield. The elders in my family said that only those who have reached the True God realm are permitted to join the military."
"As for those in the Transcendent God realm… they're not even qualified to serve as cannon fodder."
Her words confirmed Lin Moyu's earlier suspicions.
The restrictions imposed throughout human territory weren't simply limitations; they were safeguards for humanity's younger generation.
Those below the True God realm were prevented by their level of authority from traveling to the frontlines or joining the military.
Their only path was to complete missions, gradually increasing both their authority and their strength.
Only after reaching the True God realm did they become eligible to step onto the battlefield.
Even then, most True Gods chose not to fight at the front.
Instead, they continued completing missions while comprehending laws, steadily strengthening themselves.
Although Lin Moyu had complete confidence in his own abilities, he had never been arrogant.
"I was too impatient." He thought with self-mockery.
He could not judge the greater world by the standards of the small world.
There was no Antares here to shield him.
Instead, countless experts possessed the power to kill him with ease.
One careless mistake could cost him his life.
As the realization settled in, the aura surrounding Lin Moyu gradually changed, becoming calm, steady, and composed.
The last traces of impatience quietly disappeared.
He picked up his teacup and drained it in one gulp, "The tea is excellent."
"Thank you for the compliment, Senior Lin."
Unaware of the subtle transformation he had just undergone, Lin Xiaoyu continued smiling as brightly as ever.
Both sisters seemed blessed with naturally cheerful expressions that lifted the spirits of everyone around them.
Lin Moyu left the Trading Center through the teleportation formation inside the private room.
As soon as he emerged, a lively bustle of voices greeted him from afar.
Only then did he realize he had arrived at a city.
Ever since entering the greater world, his thoughts had been consumed by one thing alone—how to grow stronger as quickly as possible.
He had never stopped to observe how the people of the greater world lived, especially its ordinary citizens.
Now that his mind had finally settled, he smiled to himself, "Since I'm here, I might as well take a look."
