Naruto: Lost to Hinata on Purpose, and Now Everything's a Mess
Chapter 285 : Two Nine Tails Tailed Beast Bombs Collide
The result of this battle was far beyond Riku’s expectations.
That evening, a massive figure suddenly appeared near the outskirts of Konohagakure.
"ROAR—!"
The deafening roar stunned everyone in the village.
When people looked toward the source of the sound, they saw a crimson, monstrous version of the Nine Tails standing at the edge of Konoha.
BOOM—!
A section of the village wall was obliterated by its claws.
Riku frowned. "I didn’t expect he could fully transform into a Tailed Beast... but it seems he completely lost control in the process."
Sora’s ability to undergo full Tailed Beast transformation had caught Riku off guard.
Now fully transformed, the beast glared at Konoha. At that moment, it had only one purpose—total destruction.
Just as it was about to charge into the village, another massive form appeared behind it.
ROAR—!
A second thunderous roar echoed.
Another crimson Nine Tails—Kurama—had appeared. It grabbed the imposter by both tails, spun him around with terrifying force, and hurled him into the air.
BOOM—!
The fake Nine Tails was flung hundreds of meters away, crashing into a distant forest.
Two manifestations of the Nine Tails appearing at once left everyone in Konoha utterly dumbfounded.
Many had lived through the Nine Tails’ rampage more than a decade ago—none had imagined seeing it again, let alone twice. And one of them seemed to be defending the village.
It was surreal.
ROAR—!
Kurama bellowed again, directing his fury at the fake beast sprawled out in the forest. Then, he bounded forward to engage it.
The forest outside Konoha quickly became a battlefield for two titanic forces.
The two versions of the Nine Tails clashed under the darkening sky.
Nearby, Kakashi and his team stood frozen in awe.
"Wait... Naruto completely transformed into the Nine Tails, and he’s still conscious?" Yamato said in disbelief.
Kakashi narrowed his eyes. "I don’t think Naruto is in control. This... this is Kurama’s will."
Yamato stiffened, then turned toward Kakashi. "You mean... the Nine Tails is choosing to help us?"
Kakashi nodded. "Not out of goodwill. It’s afraid of Riku. Riku’s power surpasses even the Nine Tails. I’d bet anything they struck a deal. Otherwise, Kurama couldn’t stay in Naruto’s body without a seal."
"And yet he even helped Naruto master his chakra..."
Kakashi turned and looked toward the village. His eyes narrowed.
"Riku... you’ve truly become Konoha’s pillar."
As Riku’s former teacher, Kakashi felt a deep sense of pride. It proved he had not misjudged him.
At that moment, the battle between Kurama and the false beast intensified.
Even though the fake Nine Tails was only formed from Kurama’s leaked chakra, it still had enough power to contend with the real thing—at least for a short time.
But the real Kurama held the upper hand.
With a devastating punch, he sent the imposter flying.
Not far from Kurama, the fake Nine Tails opened its mouth and began forming a Tailed Beast Bomb.
Kurama’s eyes narrowed.
Kakashi and the others instantly tensed.
"That’s a Tailed Beast Bomb!"
Kurama responded instantly, opening his jaws to charge one of his own.
Within seconds, both Tailed Beast Bombs were fully formed.
As the imposter’s attack drew within a hundred meters, Kurama released his own.
BOOOOM—!
The two spheres collided mid-air, triggering a massive explosion.
The ground split, mountains trembled, and the entire area within several kilometers was engulfed in the resulting shockwave.
Flames and force surged outward—toward Konoha.
The energy wave was approaching fast, about to swallow the village.
Inside the Hokage’s office, Riku stood motionless in the light of the blast, his hands forming no seals.
"Earth Style: Earth Rampart Fortress. Wind Style: Wind Barrier."
Tsunade, standing beside him, noticed his expression shift and turned to ask what was wrong—only to see an enormous wall erupt just beyond Konoha’s outer perimeter.
The wall, tens of meters tall and wide, rose like a fortress, blocking the entire side facing the battlefield. Fierce winds howled, but they spiraled around the outer surface of the earthen barrier, reinforcing it.
BOOM—!
The massive shockwave slammed into the barrier like a tidal wave crashing against a cliff. Smoke and debris surged over the top, but the wall absorbed nearly all the force. Only harmless dust scattered into the village.
The villagers who thought death was imminent stood frozen in shock.
"Who cast that wall? Is that... Earth Style? That’s on a whole different level! The chakra required—"
"And the wind wrapped around it! Who the hell can use Wind Style like that?"
The senior Jōnin of Konoha all turned their gazes toward the Hokage building—toward Riku.
"It’s Riku. Of course it’s him."
Only the Jōnin knew the full extent of his strength.
Only they truly grasped how terrifying Riku had become.
The Hokage building was thousands of meters from the outer wall—yet Riku had cast such a monumental Earth Style technique without even being at the scene.
The amount of chakra needed was beyond what even most Kage could muster.
And this wasn’t a typical Earth-Style Wall—it resembled a real stone fortress, complete with perfect form and unbreakable defense. The chakra control and reserves required were leagues above standard techniques.
And the Wind Style—ordinarily a destructive force—was now being used as a protective shell.
That kind of mastery over elemental chakra... no one in the village could match it.
Not even Tsunade.
Tsunade glanced at Riku and smiled. "Looks like this war is completely under your control."
Riku gazed into the distance with calm eyes.
"No... this war is only just beginning. I want to see what those who’ve been stealing the corpses are really after."
"The Four Lightning-Style Ninja have been resurrected," he continued. "I remember they mastered an incredibly powerful Lightning Style technique—Thunderclap Lightning Formation. If they activate it... they could level all of Konoha."
Tsunade’s face darkened. "I’ve already dispatched teams to intercept them. But I’m not sure we can stop them in time. If we fail... the consequences will be catastrophic."
Riku, now Hokage, shared her concern.
He turned to her, saw the worry in her expression, and gently placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Don’t worry," he said with a soft smile. "I’ve already sensed all four of them. But I want our Konoha shinobi to defeat them with their own strength—not rely on mine."
Tsunade exhaled, finally able to relax.
