Meanwhile, Hiroshi slowly made his way towards the bathroom. After walking around all day, his feet were aching terribly, so he moved very slowly and carefully. But eventually, he stepped inside, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. He took out a basin and started filling it with hot water.

"There really is nothing quite as comfortable as soaking your feet in hot water at night. Well, except maybe taking a full bath, but right now I really don’t feel like doing that. Just soaking my feet will be more than enough to make me feel better!" Hiroshi thought to himself as he watched the water level rise.

"I’m actually wondering how we’re going to sleep tonight. Sleeping together in the same bed again does feel a little embarrassing... but if Harumiko wants me to stay there, then of course I will!" he mused, looking down at the basin.

He filled the basin to the brim with hot water, carried it carefully to the side, and sat down. Slowly, he took off his shoes and socks, and gently lowered his feet into the warm water.

"Wow! That feels absolutely amazing. It’s so rare that I get to do this properly. Usually, the only time I really enjoy soaking my feet is during winter, when I come back from outside and my feet are freezing cold. After soaking them, they get warm instantly, and it feels so wonderful! And it means you don’t have to climb into a freezing cold bed later on!" Hiroshi thought as he adjusted his feet comfortably in the water.

He really was right. In this world, winters could be extremely harsh. If you didn’t warm yourself up properly at night, you would be freezing for hours before the blankets finally got warm.

And in summer, like right now, soaking your feet in hot water was perfect for relieving soreness and swelling after walking around all day.

"This is just heavenly. I can’t believe how lucky I am to be able to relax like this. And this inn is really well-equipped too, they have everything we need! I think we’ll probably stay here for about four or five days, just to get everything done and enjoy ourselves before moving on," Hiroshi said softly with a contented smile.

Suddenly, he remembered that he had spent quite a lot of money today. But since he had earned a great deal over time, he didn’t worry about it at all – it was just small change to him.

"Money really does seem to flow away like water these past few days! But thankfully, I earn plenty too, so it balances out. If I wasn’t making enough to support our lifestyle, that would be a real problem!" Hiroshi thought with a grin, patting his wallet to reassure himself.

Back in the main room, Harumiko was busy organising all the items they had bought. They really had spent a fortune today, contributing a lot of money to the village’s economy! But they still had plenty of funds left, and everything they bought was useful and would make their stay here much more enjoyable.

Some of the things were souvenirs, of course. They made it a habit to buy little mementos wherever they went, so they could look back and remember their adventures later.

"I wonder if Hiroshi will like this necklace... I bought it secretly when he wasn’t looking. I really love it myself, so I hope he does too!" Harumiko thought happily as she held up a small gift she had prepared especially for him.

She carefully placed the necklace inside its box and set it gently on the table. She didn’t want to give it to him just yet; she would wait until he came out of the bathroom.

"I really hope he likes it. I chose it specifically because it suits his style, so I’m sure he will. Everything points to him loving it!" she thought as she looked at the small box.

Her heart was beating fast with excitement. This was the very first time she had ever bought Hiroshi a present after knowing him for so long. It wasn’t cheap either, and she had used her own hard-earned money to buy it.

Shaking her head slightly to calm down, she turned her attention back to the remaining items. They really had bought so much stuff; it was taking quite a while to sort everything out properly.

And so, time passed. Hiroshi sat in the bathroom enjoying his foot soak, while Harumiko stayed outside organising their purchases. A whole hour went by just like that.
