Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God
Chapter 330 - 331: The Wives’ Quiet Progress and First Feedback
Chapter 330: Chapter 331: The Wives’ Quiet Progress and First Feedback
The pocket dimension remained sealed and warm.
Auroras drifted overhead in slow rivers of violet and soft gold. The cloud-silk bed still carried the faint residual scent of earlier dual cultivation, though days had passed since Runar had last been present in body. Spiritual grass underfoot stayed perfectly lush. The air itself felt richer than before, as if the ongoing digestion outside was quietly leaking refined energy into every space connected to him.
Celestia and Nyla trained without pause.
Celestia sat cross-legged in the center of the hollow, silver hair floating around her shoulders. The living storm lattice of her inheritance circulated in elegant, controlled cycles. Soft currents of wind and violet lightning moved through her meridians with increasing precision. She no longer needed to guide every thread consciously. The framework Runar had woven for her was beginning to anticipate her needs, refining itself in response to her will.
Nyla trained differently.
She moved. She paced. She threw experimental challenges at her gold-and-crimson curiosity engine and laughed when it threw harder challenges back. Sometimes she dropped into low stances and forced the inheritance to generate combat applications on the spot. Sometimes she simply lay on her back and demanded it open new conceptual branches while she stared at the auroras. Her method was restless, aggressive, and full of open enjoyment.
They argued often, though never with real heat.
"You’re still too careful," Nyla said one cycle, perched on a condensed cloud ledge while sweat cooled on her skin. "The inheritance can take more pressure. You keep smoothing every edge before you test it."
Celestia opened her eyes and gave her a calm look. "And you keep forcing branches that aren’t stable yet. One of these days the engine is going to snap back and make you eat residual feedback for a week."
Nyla grinned. "Then I’ll eat it and get stronger. That’s the point."
"The point," Celestia replied evenly, "is controlled evolution, not deliberate near-disasters."
"Controlled is boring."
"Controlled is how we don’t explode."
They stared at each other for a moment. Then Nyla laughed and dropped down from the ledge, landing lightly beside her.
"I miss him," she said, voice quieter. "Not just the lectures. I miss the weight of him. The way he looks at us like he’s already calculated every possible outcome and still chooses to stay."
Celestia’s expression softened. "I know. I miss the quiet. And the way he lets us take what we need without making it a contest." She paused, then added with the faintest curve of her lips, "I also miss using him."
Nyla’s grin turned sharper. "Same. When he finally comes back I’m claiming the first round. You’re too polite about it."
"I’m not polite," Celestia said. "I’m patient. There’s a difference."
They returned to training.
Celestia’s breakthrough came first.
She had been circulating the storm lattice for a long uninterrupted stretch, following a particularly dense current of insight that had leaked in from outside, when the framework suddenly aligned on a deeper level. Wind and lightning stopped feeling like separate forces. They became two expressions of the same authoritative principle. Her perception expanded in a clean, irreversible step. The middle Multiversal realm opened in front of her like a door that had always been slightly ajar.
Energy surged through her body in a controlled flood. Her dantian expanded. Her principles solidified at a new density. The storm lattice drank the advancement and immediately began stabilizing the new foundation. Celestia’s back arched slightly as the breakthrough locked in. A soft, satisfied breath left her. When her eyes opened again they carried a clearer, sharper light.
Nyla whistled. "Look at you. Middle Multiversal already. Show-off."
Celestia exhaled slowly, settling the new power. "Your turn. Try not to break anything important."
Nyla’s experimental breakthrough was messier.
She forced the curiosity engine into a high-risk configuration, deliberately opening three unstable branches at once and demanding they reconcile under pressure. The inheritance resisted. Residual feedback lashed through her meridians like angry crimson lightning. For a dangerous moment the entire framework threatened to fracture. Nyla only laughed, teeth bared, and pushed harder.
"Come on," she growled. "You’re better than this. Adapt."
The engine answered.
The three unstable branches collapsed inward, fused, and re-emerged as a single aggressive new path that carried higher density than anything she had previously unlocked. The feedback reversed into pure advancement. Nyla’s body shuddered as the Multiversal threshold she had already crossed deepened further. Her aura flared gold and crimson. When the light faded she was breathing hard, skin glowing, eyes bright with fierce triumph.
"See?" she panted. "Near-disaster. Pays off."
Celestia shook her head, but there was quiet pride in her gaze. "You’re going to be insufferable about this."
"I earned it."
They sat together afterward, letting the new foundations settle. Both of them could feel the vast process continuing outside the pocket dimension. Something immense was moving through the Multiverse. Laws were being read on a scale that should have been impossible. Yet the runoff that reached them remained perfectly tailored, perfectly timed, and completely safe.
"He trusts us to walk on our own," Celestia said softly.
Nyla leaned her head against Celestia’s shoulder. "And we trust him not to get lost out there while he’s eating the entire Multiverse."
They were quiet for a while.
Then Nyla spoke again, voice low and certain. "I want to show him. Soon. The progress. And then I want him back for a while. Properly."
Celestia nodded once. "Agreed."
---
Outside, in the void, the loop continued.
Runar’s perception remained fully expanded. Absolute Comprehension and Origin Weave still turned the Multiverse into nourishment without pause. Yet something new had begun.
The Multiverse was reacting.
The reaction was faint at first — so faint that only a being standing outside the structure could have noticed it. Certain high-level laws, ancient and proud, began leaning toward him. They did not attack. They did not resist. They offered themselves, like old texts opening to a reader who had already proven he could understand them completely. Spatial laws drifted closer to his awareness. Causal fragments aligned more readily. Conceptual frameworks that had previously required effort to extract now arrived almost eagerly.
A few of the oldest residual wills of dead universes stirred.
Some tried to communicate. Fragmented voices, long since stripped of coherent identity, brushed against the edge of his perception. A few pleaded — for remembrance, for continuation, for the mercy of being fully read and then allowed to fade cleanly. Others simply offered what little knowledge they still carried, as if recognizing that their existence had finally found a purpose in being understood.
Runar listened to each one.
He extracted everything useful with the same calm precision he applied to living systems. Then he released the residual wills back into silence. No lingering attachments. No unnecessary preservation. The dead were allowed to finish dying once their last value had been taken.
As the volume of available knowledge continued to grow, he began deliberately pruning.
Low-density streams — repetitive techniques, redundant philosophical dead ends, shallow technological variations that offered nothing new — were cut from the primary intake. Absolute Comprehension narrowed its focus to higher-value material. Origin Weave received cleaner, denser input and responded by generating even more refined higher-order structures. The loop tightened further.
The two Supreme Principles grew noticeably denser.
Absolute Comprehension became sharper, faster, capable of reading thinner and more incomplete layers without loss of clarity. Origin Weave grew heavier, more absolute, its generated structures carrying greater inherent authority. The feedback between them intensified.
Runar’s hybrid body began refining itself in response.
The changes were exponential rather than linear. The information-life-form components of his vessel densified, packing more conceptual capacity into the same space. The pure runic construct layers restructured themselves into more efficient patterns, reducing internal resistance to near zero. The conceptual framework that bound everything together expanded its tolerance thresholds, allowing the body to channel higher volumes of principle force without strain. Each cycle of the loop produced a small but compounding increase in overall capacity. Those small increases stacked. The curve steepened.
His physical form remained outwardly unchanged. Inwardly, the vessel that carried the two Supreme Principles was becoming something far beyond its original design parameters.
The Multiverse noticed.
For the first time since he had stepped inside it, the greater structure began to actively suppress him.
The previous suppresion was only passively. This one was active.
The pressure was subtle at first — a quiet, distributed resistance that tried to push his existence back toward a scale the Multiverse could categorize and contain. Laws attempted to reassert normal hierarchical limits. Spatial membranes thickened around the regions his perception occupied. Conceptual weight tried to settle on him like a net designed to remind outsiders that they still belonged somewhere inside the system.
The suppression had no effect.
Runar’s hybrid body simply ignored it. The two Supreme Principles treated the pressure as irrelevant background noise. Absolute Comprehension read the suppression itself, understood its mechanisms, and continued operating without interruption. Origin Weave did not even bother to counter it. The Multiverse’s attempt to push him back into a manageable category failed so completely that the pressure eventually lessened, as if the structure itself had realized the effort was wasted.
Runar noted the development with mild interest and nothing more.
The loop continued.
Inside the pocket dimension, Celestia and Nyla refined their new foundations and waited with quiet certainty. Outside, the Multiverse leaned, offered, pleaded, and tried to suppress — all while being steadily turned into nourishment.
The wives would reclaim him soon.
Until then, the digestion deepened.
