Chapter 28: Missing Coordinates

The absolute silence of the studio apartment was thick, heavy, and charged with an unyielding physical friction. Flat on his back across the rumpled grey sheets of the twin mattress, Leo could feel the rapid, chaotic hammering of his own heart against his ribs. Pinned directly on top of his broad, upgraded Level 4 athletic chest was Stella. Her voluptuous hourglass frame was pressed flush into his torso, the thin fabric of her tight white knit crop top doing absolutely nothing to mask the soft, heavy contour of her chest molding against him. Her long, smooth thighs were explicitly tangled between his dark fitted jeans, her bare midriff radiating a slick, sliding heat.

For a long, breathless moment, neither of them moved a single muscle. Stella’s hands remained tightly clutched around his exceptionally broad shoulders, her long, luxurious silver-white hair cascading past his neck like a soft cloud, completely flooding his level-4 senses with her exotic perfume. Her predatory emerald-green eyes, usually so cold, calculating, and algorithmic, were wide with an entirely unscripted shock. As she looked down into Leo's intense dark-grey eyes from mere millimeters away, her haughty, arrogant transfer student facade completely evaporated. A deep, white-hot pink blushing facial flush rapidly painted her pale cheeks, spreading all the way down to her bare collarbone.

Leo’s gaze darkened, his level-4 physical instincts locking onto the raw allure of her body. His large masculine hands, which were still firmly wrapped around her slender bare waist to hold her steady, instinctively tightened. Moving with a deliberate, assertive control, he began to slowly pull her narrow waist even closer, closing the last remaining boundary space between their hips.

"L-Leo... wait—!" Stella gasped breathlessly, her voice cracking in a high-pitched, genuine panic.

The intense proximity completely overwhelmed her defenses. Breaking his grip with a sudden, frantic burst of physical energy, she forcefully pushed her hands against his chest and scrambled backward off his body. In an absolute, ultra-flash blur of speed that almost defied human sight, she lunged across the linoleum floor, snatched the heavy paper economics notes from his dark wooden desk, and zipped straight out of his apartment door before he could even blink. The heavy brass door slammed shut with a resounding click, leaving the room instantly vacant.

Leo slowly sat up on the edge of the mattress, running a hand through his messy chocolate-brown hair, completely dazed. His Level 4 intelligence core looped through the sequence, utterly baffled. "What the hell was that speed?" he muttered into the quiet room, his eyebrows furrowing in deep, lingering confusion.

.....

The scene shifted heavily to the next morning. Friday brought a crisp, clear sunlight that illuminated the bustling stone arches of the main university quad. Leo walked through the crowded courtyard, his hands shoved casually into his pockets as he navigated past groups of chatting students. Reaching the central humanities bulletin board, he joined a dense cluster of classmates staring at a massive, newly pinned document block. It was the official timetable for their mid-term examinations, prominently stamped to begin exactly seven days later.

"Oh, great. The execution schedule has finally been posted," a familiar, dramatic voice groaned from right behind his shoulder.

Leo spun around to see his two core campus friends, Gideon and Soren, walking up to the board with thoroughly defeated expressions. Gideon was slouching so low his messenger bag was practically dragging on the stone pavement, while Soren was frantically tapping on his phone calculator.

"Tell me about it," Gideon whined, slapping a hand over his forehead in theatrical despair. "Seven days? That's barely enough time for me to memorize the glossary headers, let alone pass Advanced Macroeconomics! Hey, Leo, old pal, master of the lecture hall... have you finally changed your mind about coming with us to the movies downtown this weekend? We're going to catch that new sci-fi action thriller, and we desperately need you to act as our intellectual shield so we don't feel guilty for ignoring our textbooks."

Leo offered a relaxed, slight smirk, his passive 5/10 Charm aura keeping his tone effortlessly smooth. "No, I'm going to have to refuse. I've got a lot of library material and personal data backlog to clear before next Friday."

Soren let out a loud, theatrical sigh of absolute betrayal, crossing his arms in mock frustration. "Unbelievable! Look at this guy, Gideon. Upgraded model-tier jawline, broad commanding shoulders, perfect grades, and now he's ghosting his loyal squad to study. Are you secretly training to become a corporate CEO at nineteen, Leo? Or are you just hoarding all the premium study notes for yourself?"

"He's definitely hoarding them," Gideon grumbled comically, nudging Soren's arm before shifting his gaze across the crowded corridor. He adjusted his collar, a look of mild curiosity breaking through his lazy expression. "By the way, Leo... it's kind of weird today. Why didn't Chloe come to the university block this morning? I walked past the journalism sector earlier, and her seat was completely empty. That pink-haired girl usually anchors herself to the front row thirty minutes before the morning bell just to watch you walk into the room."

Leo’s body went completely rigid, his dark eyes narrowing to razor slits as a sudden surge of sharp, cold anxiety pooled in his stomach. Chloe didn't show up?

"I... I don't know," Leo answered carefully, keeping his voice a low, disciplined murmur to mask the sudden drumming of his pulse. "I haven't checked my notification panels today."

"Man, she must be really sick or something," Soren muttered as the warning bell rang through the quad. "Anyway, we better sprint if we don't want the attendance proctor to lock the doors. See ya at lunch, textbook king!"

Leo nodded mechanically, watching his friends blend into the crowd. Instead of heading straight to his assigned lecture hall, he marched down the humanities corridor, pushing past the incoming sophomores until he reached the journalism homeroom. He stood at the threshold, his dark obsidian-grey eyes thoroughly scanning the rows of desks. The room was noisy, filled with students organizing their portfolios, but Chloe’s desk near the window was completely bare. There was no pink sweater cardigan, no journalism notebook, and no crimson eyes waiting to lock into his.

Leo turned away, his jaw tightening so hard the muscles along his sharp jawline creaked. His Level 4 intellect was violently connecting the dots in real-time. First, Cynthia completely ghosts my notifications... and now Chloe vanishes from campus without a single word. This was no longer an anomalous schedule conflict. It was a systematic security breach.

Desperate to verify his remaining anchors, Leo ran through the stone corridors, his heavy athletic footsteps echoing loudly against the polished tile walls. He reached the administration sector, skidding to a breathless halt right outside the heavy oak door of the central faculty lounge. Without knocking, he pushed the door open, his chest heaving rapidly from the high-speed sprint.

Sitting at the large dark mahogany executive office desk near the center of the quiet, windowless room was Professor Genevieve. She was deeply focused, carefully writing her lecture schedules for the day inside a dark leather-bound notebook.

Hearing the sudden, heavy intrusion, Genevieve’s icy-blue eyes snapped up from the paper. The second she saw Leo’s tall 6'1" frame standing in the doorway, breathless and sweating, a wave of deep, unyielding worry instantly fractured her strict authoritative facade. She set her gold pen down, her pale face carrying a soft, flustered pink blush as she looked at him. "Leo? What is the meaning of this? You look completely out of breath... are you okay? What happened?"

Leo stared at her for a long three seconds, his dark eyes assessing her safety. Seeing that she was completely unharmed, clothed, and sitting securely inside her off-campus aligned workspace, he let out a slow, controlled breath. "I'm alright, Professor. I just... miscalculated the transit timing for the morning period. Apologies for the interruption."

Before she could stand up to question him further, Leo stepped backward and closed the heavy oak door, leaving her flustered and confused behind the desk.

.....

The half-day completed itself in a blur of agonizing, restless tension. By the time the noon bell thrummed across the campus blocks, the university cafeteria was completely packed with shouting, laughing crowds of students clearing out food trays.

Leo sat at a long wooden bench near the back corner of the dining hall, a completely untouched lunch tray resting in front of him. His hands were clasped tightly together beneath the table, his entire mind completely zoned out from reality. His Level 4 intelligence core was running at overdrive capacity, looping through the data matrices of his system. Where could they be?

"Hey, earth to Leo," Gideon muttered from across the table, waving a chopstick in front of his face. "You've been staring at that piece of chicken for ten minutes like it holds the secrets to the universe. Seriously, dude, if the mid-term timetable broke your brain that badly, just copy Soren's notes."

"Leave him alone, Gideon," Soren laughed, biting into a sandwich. "Our campus prodigy is clearly processing high-level algorithms. He doesn't have time for our civilian—"

Slide.

The casual conversation was violently cut short as a gorgeous, model-tier figure smoothly stepped into their row, confidently pulling out the wooden chair directly beside Leo. Stella took a seat, setting her books down with absolute, unbothered grace. Today her long silver-white hair was cascading freely past her waist, and her striking emerald-green eyes carried a calm, deeply amused focus as she looked sideways at Leo's sharp profile.

Gideon and Soren stopped chewing mid-bite. They stared at Stella's stunning, exotic beauty, then slowly turned their gaze back to Leo with profound, utterly defeated expressions of pure, unmatched bachelor frustration.

"Yep. That does it," Gideon muttered, dropping his fork onto the plastic tray with a dull clatter. "The freshman charm matrix is simply too illegal for this world. I'm out."

"We are completely invisible to society," Soren groaned in deep, comically painful defeat, grabbing his drink container. "Enjoy your private lunch block, Leo. We'll be over there."

The two friends aggressively grabbed their lunch trays and marched away from the table in absolute frustration, leaving the corner completely isolated.

Leo didn't even look at them go. His dark-grey eyes narrowed into dangerous, icy slits as he spun his head around to face the silver-haired girl sitting deep in his personal space. His deepened masculine voice dropped into a cold, dangerous whisper. "I'm not in the mood for your sidewalk performances today, Stella. Don't annoy me right now."

Stella didn't flinch. Instead, she leaned her upper body slightly forward, her soft lips parting as her stunning emerald eyes bored directly into his with a cold, terrifyingly knowing precision that completely bypassed her flustered apartment act.

"You should change your tone, Leo," Stella murmured quietly, her rich exotic accent dropping to a serious, unyielding pitch that sent a sudden shockwave through his level-4 instincts. "Because I actually know exactly where Cynthia and Chloe are being held right now."

Leo’s breath caught sharply in his throat. His entire body froze as he looked at her in absolute, unyielding shock and frantic, burning curiosity as the chapter ends.
