My Ultimate Gacha System
Chapter 517 123 — St James' Park II
Trippier won the ball back first, anticipating Garnacho's touch a fraction before it happened. Isak dropped away from the center-backs again, this time linking the move rather than staying on the shoulder of the last defender. Guimarães carried through midfield as United's shape compressed toward him, and Almirón's inward movement dragged the far-side defender out of position.
Trippier had already restarted his overlapping run. He received it back on the outside with the whole right side of United's defense pulled the wrong way.
Demien was dealing with Guimarães and the cutback lane through the middle. Leaving it to close Trippier down would have handed Guimarães or Isak a free run at goal instead.
He held his position.
Trippier's cross came in low toward the back post.
Gordon arrived behind the far-side defender.
NEWCASTLE UNITED 1 — 0 MANCHESTER UNITED Anthony Gordon, approx. 55'
St James' Park exploded.
"That is exactly the goal Newcastle have been building toward all match," the commentator said. "Trippier wins it, Isak links it, Guimarães carries it, Almirón drags the defense out of shape, and Trippier's there again to finish the move he started."
Demien didn't turn on anyone. He looked at the sequence once, understood exactly why the spare man had appeared, and started organizing the restart before the celebrations behind him had finished.
"Reset," he called to Mainoo and Bruno. "Same shape. Nothing changes."
The goal changed Newcastle's approach more than it changed United's. They no longer needed to chase the game — they could sit on their press and pick off transitions instead. For several minutes it nearly became 2-0. Gordon got another run in behind, Isak forced Maguire back into his own box, and Guimarães shot from range after United only half-cleared a corner. Onana had to make a real save to keep it level at one.
Demien got more aggressive on the ball because United now needed a goal, without abandoning the defensive discipline that had cost them the first hour. Ten Hag made his change on the hour mark — Antony on for Rashford, who'd spent most of the half chasing Livramento's overlaps and had little left to give. Mainoo stayed; his composure in buildup mattered more with United chasing the game, not less.
Newcastle tried trapping Demien again almost immediately after the substitution, Joelinton arriving from behind while Guimarães closed the passing lane in front.

He turned through the first contact, kept Guimarães off with his body, and accelerated into the space that opened up the moment both men were behind him.
「MATCH MISSION PROGRESS」 「Pressure Escapes: 5/5 — COMPLETE」
Newcastle's fullback was still high from the previous attack, and Garnacho had already started the run into the space he'd left behind.
「LEGENDARY SKILL ACTIVATED」 「Andrea Pirlo — Deep-Lying Playmaker」
He sent it beyond Newcastle's midfield before they could reset their line. Garnacho took it in stride and attacked the exposed center-back, Højlund running centrally to occupy the other one.
Rather than force the shot from a narrowing angle, Garnacho squared it across the six-yard box.
Højlund finished first time.
NEWCASTLE UNITED 1 — 1 MANCHESTER UNITED Rasmus Højlund, approx. 68' (Assist: Alejandro Garnacho)
"Walter breaks the line, Garnacho does the rest, and United are level!" the commentator called, the away end erupting as St James' Park answered with noise of its own almost immediately.
Højlund found Garnacho first in the celebration, the assist his by any measure that mattered — Demien had started the move, not finished it, and that distinction stayed exactly where it belonged.
United didn't suddenly dominate after the equalizer. Newcastle had been too good for that fantasy to hold.
They responded with another sustained spell, Guimarães receiving deeper now to avoid Demien's immediate pressure before hitting diagonals toward Gordon, Joelinton still crashing into every second ball he could reach. Trippier got one more crossing opportunity. Onana saved one effort low, Maguire blocked another at the near post.
Demien completed his defensive mission in pieces through the stretch. Maguire won an aerial duel against Isak and the loose ball dropped toward Joelinton — Demien arrived first.
「MATCH MISSION PROGRESS」 「Second-Ball Recoveries: 5/6」
He protected it rather than simply clearing his lines, giving United a few seconds to breathe that they hadn't had in over an hour.
A few minutes later, Newcastle launched another direct ball forward. Mainoo contested the first header, Guimarães expected to gather the second, but Demien read the bounce and got there ahead of him.
「MATCH MISSION PROGRESS」 「Second-Ball Recoveries: 6/6 — COMPLETE」 「Progressive Actions After Recovery: 4/5」
He carried it forward this time and won a foul off Joelinton rather than forcing anything more.
The match entered its final quarter with both sides still capable of winning it.
Newcastle had pressed, overlapped, and contested every transition for over seventy minutes, and the gaps between their first and second lines had started widening by a few meters at a time. Demien hadn't dropped off the same way. His stamina had never been in question — what mattered was that he started using it, appearing for the ball more often as Newcastle's press slowed by fractions nobody in the stadium could measure except him.
One United spell saw him recycle through Mainoo and Maguire, waiting for Newcastle to step before switching suddenly toward Antony. Antony drove forward, but the resulting cross was cleared. Newcastle tried to counter immediately; Demien got back to break it up before it started.
Another United possession ended with Bruno forcing a difficult pass that Schär cut out. Again, Demien was already underneath the second ball before Newcastle could turn the loss into a transition.
Around the eightieth minute, Newcastle created one more real chance. Gordon attacked wide, Isak pulled toward the near post, and the delivery found its way into the box. Maguire got enough of it to block at close range, the ball spilling back out toward midfield.
That rebound became United's winner.
Demien read the loose ball before Joelinton could get to it.
「TRAIT ACTIVATED」 「Ball Winner」
He took it under contact, Joelinton leaning into him to try to prevent the turn. Demien used his balance and strength to hold his ground, then turned away rather than playing it back the way Newcastle expected.
「MATCH MISSION PROGRESS」 「Progressive Actions After Recovery: 5/5 — COMPLETE」
He carried forward instead of recycling, and Guimarães had to abandon Bruno to come and meet him.
That was exactly what he wanted.
Bruno drifted into the right half-space the instant Guimarães stepped. Demien released him and kept moving rather than standing to admire the pass.
Bruno received with Newcastle's defense collapsing toward him, Højlund pinning one center-back centrally, Garnacho occupying the other side. He laid it back inside toward Demien, arriving now near the edge of the attacking third.
Demien shaped as though he might shoot.
The nearest Newcastle defender stepped to close the angle down — the threat of another strike from range credible enough after Istanbul that nobody wanted to test it twice.
That single step opened Højlund's lane.
「LEGENDARY SKILL ACTIVATED」 「Mesut Özil — Eye-of-Needle」
The pass split the gap between both defenders. Højlund ran onto it and finished low past Pope.
NEWCASTLE UNITED 1 — 2 MANCHESTER UNITED Rasmus Højlund, approx. 85' (Assist: Demien Walter)
"HØJLUND! His second of the afternoon, and United lead St James' Park with five minutes to go!" the commentator shouted over the away end going up as one.
"Look at what set that up," the analyst added on the replay. "The threat of his own shot is what opens the lane for the pass. Newcastle can't afford to give him the yard anymore — not after last Wednesday."
St James' Park answered with noise of its own immediately, refusing to accept the game was decided.
The football didn't stop just because United led.
Newcastle threw everybody forward. Trippier started delivering the ball earlier, Isak stayed central between the center-backs, Joelinton attacked every second phase in the air. A corner forced United to defend properly, Maguire clearing the first ball under real pressure.
Earlier in the match, Newcastle would probably have recovered that clearance clean.
Demien reached the loose ball first now, and rather than force a pass forward, he carried it toward the corner flag and drew the foul that killed the clock.
He wasn't chasing a second assist at 1-2. He understood exactly what the game state required.
Ten Hag made one final change, bringing on a defensive body for fresh legs at the back. Newcastle kept coming regardless — Gordon got one more cross away, Onana claiming it clean this time. United tried to hold the ball through the resulting spell, lost it, and Newcastle came again.
The board went up for nine minutes of stoppage time, the ground still loud, still believing.
United had to survive them.
Newcastle put several more deliveries into the box. Demien helped defend the edge of the area rather than sitting on top of his own goalkeeper, one clearance eventually reaching Bruno, who tried releasing Garnacho on the counter before Newcastle recovered and came forward one final time.
The last meaningful phase saw Newcastle win the first contact again, Joelinton flicking it toward space — but Demien read the second bounce before anyone in yellow could reach it, took it under control, protected it from the nearest challenge, and rolled it into the corner rather than trying to force anything more from it.
No activation needed. Nobody watching needed the system to explain what he was doing anymore.
The referee finally checked his watch and blew the whistle.
Fweeeeeeeeettttttt!
FULL TIME: NEWCASTLE UNITED 1 — 2 MANCHESTER UNITED
Newcastle's players stood with their hands on their hips near the center circle, frustrated in the way teams get when they've been the better side for long stretches and still have nothing to show for it. United's players knew exactly how difficult the ninety minutes had been — nobody wheeled away in wild celebration, just handshakes, a few exhausted smiles, Maguire clapping Onana on the back for the two saves that had kept the scoreline honest before United found their goals.
Demien found Mainoo first. "Good game," he said. "Wasn't easy out there."
"Not for anyone," Mainoo said.
Bruno gathered the group briefly before they turned toward the away end, packed tight into one corner of the ground and still singing. Højlund walked with Demien toward them. "Second one of those you've set up for me in a week," he said.
"Keep making the run," Demien told him. "I'll keep finding it."
The broadcast analysis afterward kept its conclusions simple. Newcastle had controlled the opening hour through their press, their second balls, and their overloads on both flanks — genuinely the better team for long spells. United had gradually found their way out of it, and Demien's influence had grown as the legs around him started to tire, finishing the game with a goal-adjacent hand in both equalizer and winner without ever needing the ball every five seconds to matter.

MATCH RATING: 8.8
No new skill. No surprise draw. One assist, ninety minutes of a genuinely difficult collective problem, and a result that mattered more than any individual number attached to it.
Inside the away dressing room, nobody treated the win like Istanbul.
It had been too hard for that, too much of the afternoon spent absorbing rather than dictating. Boots came off slower than usual. Ten Hag moved between groups rather than delivering a speech, telling a couple of the tired legs directly that they'd earned the result the hard way.
Demien sat with his legs still feeling the match more than they had in Turkey, phone lighting up with the same headlines that would write themselves — the unbeaten run intact, the top spot untouched for one more week.
None of it stayed on screen long. The next fixture had already replaced it.
CHELSEA — OLD TRAFFORD — WEDNESDAY.
United had survived Istanbul. They had survived St James' Park.
The recovery window before the next one barely existed at all.
