My System Tricked Twelve Beast Husbands to Give Birth for Me
Chapter 131: Yo, Bad Boy Style, I Don’t Have This Type Yet
Chapter 131: Chapter 131: Yo, Bad Boy Style, I Don’t Have This Type Yet
After undergoing the baptism of the Mid-level Bloodline Purification Bath, Shi Lingfeng felt completely dazed. He wondered how it could be so painful every single time. The pain was so intense that it entirely interrupted his romantic thoughts about Gu Weilan.
Only now did he realize just how incredible his Female Master was. To be able to endure such bone-scraping agony every time and still come out looking radiant was no small feat.
Gu Weilan had it so easy because of her adorable cub. The cub’s Curse Technique distributed all the pain its Mother endured among her various good daddies. That was why Gu Weilan never felt any extreme pain; it was always kept at a tolerable level. After all, the menstrual cramps she had suffered during the Apocalypse were far worse than the pain of soaking in this medicinal bath!
Gu Weilan pulled Shi Lingfeng onto the bed. She reached out and poked his now even more defined abdominal muscles, asking curiously, "Tell me, what exactly is going on with that Lu Xuyin?"
Shi Lingfeng let out a sigh and gathered Gu Weilan into his arms. "Aren’t you curious about where I got this information?" he asked.
[The Shi Family is in the materials industry. Among all the material suppliers across interstellar space, the Shi Family ranks near the very top. It’s just like the famous beverage tycoons back on Blue Star.]
[The materials industry doesn’t just cover mining; items like Insect Clan carapaces also fall under its domain. And Lu Xuyin has currently been sent to the front lines by the Dragon Clan to temper himself.]
[The Dragon Clan is no insignificant beast race. As long as Lu Xuyin doesn’t deliberately cover his tracks, any beastman collecting materials could easily ask around and find out about him.]
Even though Gu Weilan had just heard Pomegranate Seed’s explanation, she still played along for Shi Lingfeng’s sake. "Oh? Then how did you manage to get the news? I’m so curious!"
Watching her exaggerated performance, Shi Lingfeng was amused despite himself.
"I get the feeling you’ve already guessed how I found out. Yet here you are, treating me like a giant toy and teasing me for your own amusement!" Shi Lingfeng pinched Gu Weilan’s slender fingertips.
Lying in his embrace, Gu Weilan suppressed a smile and gave a perfunctory hum. "Well, if that’s what you want to think, I have nothing to say."
Shi Lingfeng caught her fingertips and gently bit down on them. "Lu Xuyin’s aptitude is quite good, so the Dragon Clan wanted him to form a bond with a female from a branch family to ensure the purity of their bloodline. In the end, Lu Xuyin didn’t take a liking to her and insisted that forming a bond within the Dragon Clan would result in idiot offspring."
Gu Weilan frowned. "Inbreeding really does produce idiot offspring!"
Technology in the interstellar beast world was highly advanced; she refused to believe they lacked such basic common sense.
Shi Lingfeng kissed the crown of her head. "That branch family of theirs is so distant from the main bloodline that they practically have no relation at all. How could that be considered inbreeding?
"Afterward, the elders of the Dragon Clan found females from the Nine-tailed Fox Clan, the Vermilion Bird Clan, the Golden Crow Clan, the White Tiger Clan, and the Rift-Space Lion Clan for him.
"After all, marriages among the Nine Great Beast Clans, who possess the highest combat power, are arranged to ensure that any cubs born will have exceptional aptitude inherited from either their Mother’s or Father’s side.
"But Lu Xuyin refused them all. Moreover, at that banquet meant for him to choose a Female Master, he flat-out told the elders that the Beast God Matching System had already paired him with his most compatible Female Master—and that’s you."
Gu Weilan raised an eyebrow. "Whoa—so without even knowing it, I indirectly offended the Dragon Clan elders and several of those top-tier beast clans?"
Shi Lingfeng closed his eyes for a moment and pulled Gu Weilan higher into his embrace. "Oh, you! Lu Xuyin isn’t stupid. He didn’t directly reveal your name or your clan.
"However, because he adamantly refused to accept the Female Masters the elders introduced, the Dragon Clan banished him to the front lines to temper himself."
Gu Weilan traced circles on Shi Lingfeng’s chest with her finger. "That’s impossible. You’re leaving something out. He sent me some very strange messages before, even demanding that I cancel our match."
"You’ve never even met him, yet you’re speaking up for him. Aren’t you afraid he might be ugly?" Shi Lingfeng turned his head slightly, his gaze fixed unblinkingly on his Female Master.
Gu Weilan tilted her head up to meet his eyes. "He was afraid I’d reject him, so he sent me his holographic photo. He has seaweed-green hair and smiles like a healthy, cheerful, goofy puppy. He’s actually quite handsome."
Shi Lingfeng blinked. For a moment, he genuinely couldn’t tell whether his Female Master was praising Lu Xuyin’s looks or mocking him for being stupid.
"That’s because you don’t know him. That male is an absolute rogue."
"Ooh, the bad-boy type? I don’t have one of those yet... Mmph..."
Hearing this, Shi Lingfeng flipped over and captured Gu Weilan’s lips. He kissed her until her eyes were glistening with moisture and he himself was panting, only then releasing her. Reaching up, he grasped the left and right sides of his glasses frame with his thumb and middle finger and took them off.
Without the lenses obscuring his face, Shi Lingfeng’s sharp, distinct facial contours and strikingly handsome features captured Gu Weilan’s gaze even more brazenly. Sometimes, the world was just unreasonable like that. Everyone was always willing to give better-looking people a bit more tolerance and favoritism.
Gu Weilan’s fingers traced his brow bone and slid down his tall, straight nose. Cradling his cheeks, she dropped a kiss onto his long, narrow eyes. Those deep blue-gray eyes of his, reminiscent of a ragdoll cat, always softened the sharpness of his features. They made him look so profoundly affectionate. She liked them very much.
Two furry wolf ears popped out on top of Shi Lingfeng’s head. He knew exactly what kind of look Gu Weilan liked on him. He was doing everything in his power, desperately hoping she would give him a fraction of the love he felt for her. Therefore, he constantly lowered himself, doing whatever it took to please her.
But he forgot that the moment he exposed his belly for her to scratch, he was baring his most vulnerable self. Even if she were to love him, she would only ever love his docile, obedient, and subservient side.
Truthfully, Gu Weilan couldn’t help but let out some of her own petty malice at times. Having survived the Apocalypse, her mental state was somewhat broken. She needed a vast amount of healthy, normal love to keep herself anchored in the realm of normal humanity. Otherwise, violent and malicious thoughts would inevitably bubble up in her mind.
For instance, when facing Xie Jinglan, she had nearly lost control of her malice, almost compelling the entire Dolphin Clan to hurl verbal abuse at the woman. She had almost turned the Dolphin Clan into the public enemy of every beast clan in those waters.
Could Gu Weilan actually do it?
To be honest, as long as she wanted to, it wouldn’t be hard at all. Armed with the formulas for the Cultivation Liquid and the Bloodline Purification Bath—one incredibly beneficial for cubs and the other for adult beastmen—she had all the leverage she needed. Making the Dolphin Clan the target of universal scorn would be incredibly simple. It wasn’t as if she hadn’t seen people use such tactics during the Apocalypse.
But after all, the Dolphin Clan was the maternal family of Zhan Heng and Xie Jing. It was only because she cherished Zhan Heng and Xie Jing’s wholehearted love for her that she refrained from using such genocidal methods against their clan. She had even left an opening for the Python Clan, entirely to ensure the Dolphin Clan still had a way to survive.
Shi Lingfeng sensed Gu Weilan’s distraction. Unlike Zhan Heng, he wasn’t domineering enough to demand that she only look at him and only think of him. He kissed her cheek, nudged her nose with his, and gently swept his tail against her waist.
"Weilan, what’s wrong?" he asked softly. "Do you want to hear Lu Xuyin’s side of the story? His version is a little different from the rumors his family has been spreading."
