Melody Thorne watched that scene with a cold expression.

"Miss Thorne, you’re not naïve enough to think that just because I asked you to come over, I’m really only here to trade something with you, are you?" Councilor Gu kicked the woman in front of him aside and strode over to Melody Thorne, very close, lowering his head to sniff the scent on her body, his eyes narrowing in satisfaction.

No wonder she’s the woman Jared Quinn’s so hung up on—even the way she smells is that good.

"All of this is thanks to you. I ought to collect some interest, don’t you think?" Councilor Gu hooked a hand under Melody Thorne’s chin, grinding it hard.

Melody slapped away his disgusting hand, voice dripping with mockery. "Councilor Gu, your IQ clearly isn’t that high. As long as we’re in Ardenia, as long as we’re on Jared Quinn’s turf, it doesn’t matter whether you’ve gotten the Hawthorne Family’s army or not—if you so much as lay a finger on me, you’re not walking out of here alive."

"You’re that confident?" Councilor Gu narrowed his eyes, vicious and cold.

"It’s not confidence. It’s a fact."

"Hahaha, you really do have guts." Councilor Gu went back to the woman’s side and sat down on the sofa. Right in front of Melody Thorne, his big hand slid into the woman’s clothes, making her pant and moan.

"I’ve suddenly changed my mind. Sure, I can’t touch you, but the antidote’s on me. I’m in a bad mood now and don’t feel like giving it to you. Why don’t we see if you’ve got what it takes to make me happy—take it out of my hands yourself."

Those shameless words were flat-out telling her to please him that way!

"Miss Thorne, you’d better think this through. Madam Sila’s attacks will come faster and faster each time, and each one will be worse than the last, until she dies. And she won’t have more than five episodes. Counting yesterday, that was already her second, and the third isn’t far off."

Councilor Gu’s disgusting gaze kept roaming over her body. Jared Quinn’s woman—even if he didn’t fuck her, at least he could get a taste.

Melody Thorne watched the way he and that woman interacted. "Then spell it out—how exactly do you want me to please you?"

"You coach her." Councilor Gu let out a contemptuous snort.

"Sure." The woman used her mouth to bite open his shirt buttons one by one, her hands pulling off his belt as she lowered her head, getting ready to serve him with her mouth.

Melody rubbed her temples with her fingers, glanced at the time on the wall, then sat down on a sofa not far away. "You’re going to need a while, right? No rush, take your time. I’ll sit here and wait."

Councilor Gu glared at her, his face going dark. He wanted to get up and grab her—who cared whose woman she was, he’d fuck her first and talk later.

But the woman kneeling beside him just sank down further, going straight in...

Melody Thorne looked out at the scenery beyond the window. The room echoed with Councilor Gu’s ecstatic groans, and the soldiers standing nearby felt like their bodies were going up in flames.

"There’s a bathroom over there," Melody kindly reminded them.

The few soldiers in the room had lust toward Melody Thorne but no courage. They immediately turned around and headed for the bathroom.

In less than a few minutes, Councilor Gu was done, collapsing on the sofa.

"Councilor Gu, you might be a bit kidney-deficient. You should really eat more things that tonify the kidneys." Melody Thorne offered the advice in all seriousness.

"Shut up." Councilor Gu barked, yanking up his pants, lunging toward Melody Thorne. "I’ll show you right now whether I’m kidney-deficient!"

Melody moved a step faster than him, planting her foot on his lifeline, the pressure not too heavy, not too light—not enough to really hurt him, but with a hint of something teasing and suggestive. "She just finished pleasing you. Now is it my turn?"
