"I heard Commander Hawthorne and Councilman Gordon never got along. They often argued over political matters, and there were even rumors they got physical!"

"Is it true they were on good terms?"

"What do you know? Now that Commander Hawthorne is dead, even if they weren’t on good terms, no one would admit it!"

"But now the Hawthorne Family’s assets are going to fall into Councilman Gordon’s hands. Do you think Commander Hawthorne will rest in peace knowing this?"

These people were deliberately arranged by Jared Quinn, with the aim of revealing Weston Hawthorne’s discord with Councilman Gordon before he died.

The discussions in the crowd grew increasingly unpleasant, and Councilman Gordon wished he could kill them all as he strode towards the podium.

"I heard everything everyone just said. Although Weston Hawthorne and I had political differences and occasional misunderstandings, it wasn’t as exaggerated as everyone claims. Privately, we were on decent terms!"

"Councilman Gordon, wasn’t the last incident with the Hawthorne Family, when they were accused of treason, all related to you?" Someone in the crowd shouted loudly.

Councilman Gordon’s face turned extremely livid. "Yes, the last incident was because of me. Although our relationship was good, I had to be fair and just. When I clarified the truth of the matter, didn’t I restore his innocence immediately?"

"Gordon Grant, you’re talking bullshit!" The banquet doors were pushed open, and Donovan Hawthorne and Wallace Hawthorne stormed in angrily. "You locked up our two brothers and tortured us daily, just to find out the whereabouts of the order. Don’t think we don’t understand your schemes. Even if Dad wasn’t fond of us, he would never hand it over to you!"

"Exactly! Do you think we’re dead? Today we are going to take this opportunity to let everyone see clearly how you tortured us, while claiming to be on good terms. It’s all bullshit!"

As Donovan Hawthorne and Wallace Hawthorne walked inside, they began taking off their clothes, revealing horrific injuries—whip marks and branding iron burns, their whole upper body skin was not intact anywhere!

"Miss Thorne, please give us an explanation. Why would you transfer the order to someone else, treating the Hawthorne Family this way!"

The reporters were exceedingly emotional one by one.

"Miss Thorne, you absolutely cannot give the order to Councilman Gordon. Otherwise, even if my father knew underground, he wouldn’t rest in peace!"

Donovan Hawthorne shouted loudly.

He was in collaboration with Melody Thorne. He believed that Melody Thorne was much easier to deal with compared to Councilman Gordon. Removing Councilman Gordon was the primary task, and then Melody Thorne!

"Miss Thorne, please clarify what’s going on!"

"Everyone, quiet down and let me speak!" Councilman Gordon tried to calm the situation. "Because I have a good relationship with the Hawthorne Family, I saw them fighting over the Hawthorne Family’s assets and wanted to teach them a lesson to unite them..."

"Look, is that Sila? Why is she sitting next to the person beside Councilman Gordon? Is she being threatened?"

"Sila, has Councilman Gordon kidnapped you or is using you to threaten Melody Thorne, forcing her to hand over the order?"

"Sila? Why are you sitting there afraid to move? Please speak!"

"Yes, Councilman Gordon kidnapped this woman; he’s threatening Melody Thorne. He wants to obtain the Hawthorne Family’s order, this person always has ulterior motives!" Donovan Hawthorne loudly pointed to the reporters. "Otherwise, she wouldn’t just sit there!"
