Chapter 1569 - 1567: Risk Assessment

Chapter 1569: Chapter 1567: Risk Assessment

Back to the base.

Yang Chen ordered, "Start the danger assessment now!"

Yang Cao and the others, carrying experimental materials and the report analyzed below, went to the dedicated laboratory to commence the research. Based on the research results, they began the danger assessment.

So far, there were no obvious signs of disaster discovered. At least, the outbreak scenario Yang Chen worried about with the Vine Guard members had not happened yet.

As long as the Vine Guard members are fine, it’s temporarily safe.

But safety does not mean eternal safety; preventive measures must be devised.

Regarding this, Yang Chen racked his brains.

Wanting high profits and absolute safety is a paradox in itself, yet Yang Chen had no choice but to attempt it.

This was indeed a conflicting matter.

Yang Chen returned to his tent, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.

His mind was filled with the image of the person he had seen in the coffin.

According to the Xiang family, that was their ancestor Xiang Yu.

But Yang Chen wasn’t sure.

No matter who it was, it was a creature living for thousands of years. It must also be a host for the parasite, its harmfulness... unknown! Its danger... unknown! Its mutation level... unknown!

With all these unknowns, the sole meaning of this thing’s existence is... terror!

All fear stems from the unknown, and the thing inside the black sphere is the unknown.

Yang Chen didn’t like unknown things, which is why he loved research, habitual to dig into the roots.

Even when on missions, he required complete intelligence gathering. Without complete intel, how was he supposed to execute tasks?

In face of unknowns, without sufficient adaptability, what dangers must be faced?

Human reflexes have limits; you might have a high reflex ability to avoid some dangers. But there’s always the unexpected, errors happen.

A simple mistake could be enough to destroy a life. Life is only once, Yang Chen could not watch the life that was once vibrant before him turn into a corpse.

This was something he was unwilling to endure.

Therefore, he demanded that all dangerous things need to be clearly understood.

There is nothing more dangerous than not knowing about your enemy.

Yang Chen felt it was necessary to solve the matter under the cliff.

Find whatever came out of that black sphere, it must be found, only then would he rest easy.

In the throes of thought, Yang Chen unknowingly fell asleep.

By noon, Yang Chen was awakened by someone else.

When the person entered, Yang Chen asked, "What’s the matter?"

The person replied, "A call from headquarters, asking to hear your report!"

Upon hearing this, Yang Chen knew it was probably Ye Liangcai and the others.

"Alright! Have them wait a moment." Yang Chen said.

Then, Yang Chen got up, washed up, changed his clothes, checked in the mirror to confirm he was looking sharp before heading out.

Yang Chen believed that whatever you do, you need to maintain a good demeanor. Even if you’re not wearing branded clothes, or if the clothes are old, they must be clean, you must stand straight, and present your confidence.

If a person can’t even maintain their demeanor, can’t even uphold themselves, then they won’t achieve much.

Entering the command room, Yang Chen picked up the phone, "Hello, this is Yang Chen!"

On the other side, Ye Liangcai’s voice came through, "Yang Chen, we heard you have gone down to investigate. Could you report the details to us?"

"I can," Yang Chen replied. "But the specifics will have to wait until the danger assessment report is delivered, but I can brief you on the general situation."

Ye Liangcai paused slightly, then said to Yang Chen, "Alright, please brief us on the general situation first."

Yang Chen organized his thoughts and reported to Ye Liangcai, "So far, there hasn’t been any upheaval discovered below the cliff. We only found broken vines, suggesting something invaded and startled them. As for what it is, I am still investigating. Additional information is not convenient to disclose for now; everything will await the danger assessment report for a detailed briefing to you!"

Ye Liangcai wasn’t satisfied with this answer.

It’s not just he who wanted to know, other shareholders with stakes were eager to understand as well.

Yang Chen seemed to be giving a perfunctory briefing, which was unsatisfactory to those wishing to grasp the situation urgently.

"Yang Chen, can you elaborate on the dangers below, what’s causing the roars?" Ye Liangcai asked.

Yang Chen replied, "The roars are because something invaded, startling those Vine Soldiers down below the cliff. Luckily, the Vine Soldiers haven’t fully awakened; without external stimuli, those awakened will fall back to sleep. As for the rest, it’s not convenient to divulge more."

For this answer, they were still unsatisfied. Ye Liangcai said, "Can’t you tell us more about other aspects? Be as detailed as possible because we are very concerned about the safety there. As you know, any leak would be a catastrophic disaster."

"Rest assured! I guarantee there will be no large-scale leak! Also, you have mentioned that I have full decision-making and command authority. My task is simply to handle the matters on the mountain, and how I resolve it, the means I use, I am entitled to decide! Moreover, whether to report to you is well within my discretionary rights. Based on my present analysis, what I can report to you is just this; if you find it insufficient, you may come and see for yourselves!" Yang Chen asserted directly.

He wouldn’t disclose much more because he was now suspicious of everyone, as their tendrils were everywhere; who knew what each had in mind.

He obviously knew this was not just Ye Liangcai inquiring, hence revealing too much was inadvisable.

Upon hearing Yang Chen’s words, Ye Liangcai was left speechless.

After a brief moment, Ye Liangcai could only sigh, "Alright then! We’ll leave it at that!"

Hanging up the phone, Yang Chen saw Yang Cao entering.

Yang Cao handed over a document, "Boss, this is the danger assessment report, please have a look!"

Yang Chen took the report, noticing prominently on it an assessment level: Level Seven!

Yang Chen looked up at Yang Cao.

Yang Cao explained, "Since it’s a parasite, the initial danger level is at least Level Five!"

Yang Chen nodded slightly.

A parasite’s initial danger level being Level Five was not considered high.

Yang Chen began to carefully browse through the danger assessment report.

The vine and those Vine Soldiers, danger level increased by one!

Also, the things underwater, danger level increased by one.

The unknown black sphere and the unknown entities within, danger level increased by one!

However, the powder on the black sphere’s surface has a tremendous lethal effect on the parasite, danger level decreased by one.

The final result: danger level is Seven!
