My SSS-Rank Innate skill: Infinite Adaptation core
Chapter 249: Primordial Chaotic Flames
Everyone was shocked and frightened when they saw Nova appear inside the System Space in his colossal dragon form, only for him to suddenly revert to human form before collapsing to the ground and violently coughing up blood.
Nyxara was the fastest among them. She immediately reached Nova and pulled him into her embrace as she sat on the ground.
"Husband!! What happened to you?!"
Her face was filled with worry.
Everyone else soon reached Nova as well. Asia, Rieka, and Jenna also hurried to help him, but what they saw shocked them.
Nova’s entire upper body was bare and covered in purple and Balck veins, stretching from his face down to his arms, chest, and abdomen.
He couldn’t even open his eyes, and his face was twisted into an expression of unbearable pain—an expression they had never seen on him before.
Nova was always smiling in front of them.
But now, he looked as though he was struggling just to remain conscious. He slowly opened his eyes and looked toward Liya.
"D-Did I s-succeed?"
"Sigh... You idiot. You’re still thinking about that... Don’t worry...yes, you did...Just relax now."
Liya’s voice carried an unusual mixture of worry and sadness.
"Sigh... I knew this would happen..."
For perhaps the first time, even Liya couldn’t hide how deeply affected she was by seeing Nova in such a condition.
Yes, she had felt sadness when she saw Nova dying the last time, but back then, her emotions weren’t complete. Most of what she felt had been artificial.
But now, as she was currently in the process of developing genuine emotions, her heart clenched when she saw the man she loved in such a state, even though she knew he would recover soon enough.
"What do you mean by that, Liya?" Rieka asked as she heard her words.
"He used a high-level flame that was far above his current level, and this is the backlash. He will need time to recover. Fortunately, we’re in the System Space... We have all the time we need."
Rieka and the others understood what had happened, as they knew about these things now. But Jenna still felt terrible seeing her son in such a state.
Tears dropped from her eyes as she wondered why he needed to take such unnecessary risks.
Still, she couldn’t interfere with her son’s goals. He was already so powerful now, and all she could do as his mother was support him.
Edward saw how his son had become a mighty dragon and fought against beings whom he couldn’t have even imagined his son standing before.
His son had become so powerful in such a short amount of time that sometimes, he felt as though all of this was merely a dream.
He knew about this, as he possessed such power himself, as did Jenna. Yet, neither of them had ever seen it in action, which made both him and Jenna even more surprised.
Rieka and Asia were thinking the same thing as Nyxara and Jenna. They could only support Nova, but they were still upset that he had taken such an unnecessary risk, even if it had been for a quest.
They would definitely give him an earful once he recovered.
Velena looked at her Lord Nova, feeling genuinely sad seeing him in such a state. Though she couldn’t deny the power he had displayed before everyone. For now, she simply wanted him to recover as soon as possible.
Theodore and Rodrick could only watch and pray that Nova recovered soon. After witnessing everything he had done, they didn’t even know what to say.
Every time they thought they had finally understood the limits of Nova’s power, he shattered their expectations again with something even greater.
At this point, they had begun to think he was simply limitless, so perhaps they would be less surprised the next time he did something impossible.
"Alright, everyone. It’s not as bad as you think. Just give him some time. He will recover," Liya said before continuing.
"And you will be surprised when he does. So be ready."
Everyone raised an eyebrow at her words, especially Nyxara and Velena, who wondered what exactly she meant by that.
With that, everyone left Nova alone. Liya created a comfortable environment for him to recover—a cozy room with a comfortable bed—while the others went outside to observe the situation in the capital.
They needed to remain somewhere visible so that people wouldn’t become suspicious.
With the System Space, Nova would have enough time to recover and return before anyone became even more suspicious of his disappearance.
Even so, there were already some suspicions. The name Slaughter Monarch was Nova, and he was also less than twenty years old.
That was far too much of a coincidence.
But they couldn’t connect him to the Nova they had seen in the tournament—the Nova who had become the champion of the Grand Youth Tournament.
He was talented, yes, but not to the point where anyone could imagine him nearly killing a Sovereign. That was simply too wild and incomprehensible for anyone to connect the two identities.
Not to mention, the Slaughter Monarch had first appeared as a demon and then transformed into a dragon.
Nova, on the other hand, was simply a human kid who was exceptionally talented.
Even so, some people would inevitably make the connection, and they wouldn’t leave Nova alone.
Even if they did start investigating him, Nova wouldn’t have cared much if he were stronger. But after meeting Kharos and Caelan, he had seen firsthand what kind of monsters existed in this world.
He could feel that neither of them had even used ten percent of their true power. The same went for other Sovereigns such as Vaoroak, Aurora, Elaris, Draeven, and Lyra.
Hell, he hadn’t even seen the full potential of his own wife, Nyxara, yet.
Now he understood just how much further he needed to grow if he wanted to walk through this world without fear.
At one point, Nova thought that he should have changed his name when he went to the Abyss. But it had already been revealed because of Elaris’s unexpected visit, as she had played the biggest role in recognizing his aura.
There was nothing he could do about it now.
For the moment, he would simply focus on recovering and breaking through.
Whatever came in the future, he would face it, just as he had faced everything else since transmigrating into this world.
Within three days, Nova’s internal wounds had recovered as his Infinite Adaptation Core continued to work, accelerating his Instant Regeneration, which consequently evolved to A+ Rank.
If it weren’t for his core and Instant Regeneration, which was comparable to that of a Demon Lord and an Elder Dragon, it would have taken him years to recover. Such was the damage caused by the flame he had used.
"Sigh... That Primordial Chaotic Flame was really deadly..."
It was far above the Abyssal Flame he had seen in the breath of the Abyssal Tyradrake that Nyxara had fought.
As Nova’s Fire Resistance and Pain Resistance were already at Advanced Rank, they both leveled up to Elite Rank.
For Nova to use his Primordial Chaotic Flame even in his human form, he needed to raise his Fire Resistance to Transcendent Rank.
Though Resistance didn’t matter when he was in his dragon transformations and Dragonic Demon transformations as Resistance itself became irrelevant in those forms.
His body was naturally in harmony with most of the flames this world had to offer, including Abyssal Flames.
Nova had only been wounded because his overall strength was still too low, while the flame itself was simply too powerful.
If he wanted to use it safely, he needed to at least reach the Sovereign Realm. Even then, he would only be able to utilize around thirty percent of its potential.
And if he wanted to use it in his human or demon form, he would need to increase his Fire Resistance to at least Transcendent Rank to utilize around ten percent of its potential.
As for his Chaotic Dragonic-Demon Form, he would be able to utilize around fifty percent of the Primordial Chaotic Flame’s potential once he reached the Sovereign Realm.
Now that he was in a stable state, Nova decided that, while continuing his recovery, he would also try to increase his strength and break through to the Emperor Realm, undergoing his third evolution.
{ Isn’t it funny? This will be your first evolution where you won’t be transforming into another species or relying on fusion with Adaptation Core... }
