Chapter 248: The Aftermath

Aurora watched Nova disappear, genuinely surprised. It had been a long time since she had received a message like that.

And now, after all this time, it was only because of a boy. Though now, she wasn’t even certain if he really was the same person she had seen in the tournament.

She would have to look into it. She had information that others didn’t, and from Nova’s last words, she understood that he wasn’t purely evil.

Coming back to the others, Caelan looked at Kharos and said, "Your daughter really found a strange man, wouldn’t you say so?"

"The same could be said for your granddaughter. It seemed like he already knew her when my daughter saved her," Kharos replied.

Caelan wasn’t sure why Nyxara and Nova had helped save Maria. Was there really some kind of connection between them? He would have to ask Maria when he saw her.

He was sure he could get some information out of her.

"Now, let’s come back to the main matter... You defended the Eclipse Order today, and I will take that as you breaking the peace deal we made back then," Caelan said.

Caelan and the others didn’t know that the Blood Moon Cult was actually being controlled by the current Demon Lords. As far as the world knew, the Blood Moon Cult was under the control of the generals of Demon Lord Raze.

Caelan wouldn’t have said such things if he had known that Kharos had already broken the peace deal a long time ago.

Only recently had even the Demon Generals themselves discovered that they had been betrayed by their own minions—minions they had believed were under their control.

"Sure... I was getting bored of all these years of peace, and now things are getting interesting again."

"So, what exactly was the reason you attacked the capital of the Eastern Continent of my race? If you wanted to kill the youths participating in the tournament, you would have attacked sooner. But you people had another plan."

Vaoroak and the others listened to their conversation intently, still on guard in front of Demon Lord Kharos and Demon Lord Elaris, who was just as dangerous. Even though she looked completely out of it right now.

"Hahaha... Why do you talk as if I was the one who made the attack? It was the Eclipse Order that did that."

"But weren’t you the one working with them and defending them, endangering the lives of my people?" Caelan said as his anger surged.

His handsome face looked annoyed as he momentarily lost his composure at the smug look on Kharos’s face.

"Sigh... Yes, I worked with them, but our deal was that they would ask for my protection, and I brought Elaris only for company."

"If I had actually wanted to attack, I would have brought my Generals, and your Empire would have been reduced to rubble, with mountains of corpses."

Caelan and the others gritted their teeth as they knew Kharos was right. It did seem like he had been doing things half-heartedly and had only been there to provide protection.

"Still, that doesn’t mean you weren’t in cahoots with them. You’ll be seeing retaliation soon, you bastard," Caelan said.

"I expect nothing less. Though the deal was too good to deny. Those bastards really surprised me. If I hadn’t known what they were capable of, I wouldn’t have contacted them in the first place. Hahaha!"

Caelan narrowed his eyes.

"What do you mean?"

Kharos looked at him and replied, "Do you think you’re the only lucky ones? They have made contact with many beings in this world..."

Caelan’s eyes widened in shock when he heard Kharos’s words. Before he could say anything, Kharos turned around and opened a spatial rift.

"Elaris, let’s go!"

Elaris turned toward Kharos and said, "You go back. I’ll search for my darling Nova some more."

With that, her body blurred and disappeared.

"Sigh... That woman."

Kharos muttered as he turned back toward Vaoroak.

"Beastfolk Emperor Vaoroak... Do you really think only the human continent was attacked? I wouldn’t be so sure."

With that, Demon Lord Kharos disappeared, leaving everyone behind with a grim realization.

The most shocked among them was Vaoroak. He immediately took out his communication stone and tried to contact his continent.

To his disbelief, the communication didn’t connect. For some reason, it wasn’t working.

Vaoroak turned toward Caelan and said, "Caelan, I need your help."

Caelan nodded. He looked at Aurora, Draeven, and Lyra before saying, "You should contact your people as well.

Though I think they should be fine, since the Elf Emperor, Dragon Emperor, and Phoenix Empress are there. Even if she is wounded, she should be enough."

With that, he turned toward his army of the Twilight Order, Holy Knights, and Royal Guards.

"Take care of things here. I will be appointing the new Supreme Leader of the Twilight Order soon."

With that, he and Vaoroak disappeared.

They soon appeared at the location where the Beastfolk youths were, along with those who had disappeared from the human continent.

After the Beastfolk Emperor disappeared with Caelan, the other powerhouses, including Aurora, Draeven, and Lyra, were still wondering about what Caelan and Kharos had been talking about at the end.

They had heard them talking about the same thing earlier as well.

Who exactly were they talking about that could make Caelan show such an expression? And what could possibly make Kharos agree to work with the Eclipse Order, the very organization he had cornered beneath him in the past?

Elaris didn’t seem to know anything about what they were talking about either, though they couldn’t be certain. That woman was strange in many ways, and no one truly knew what she was thinking most of the time.

Following Caelan’s words, they contacted their respective continents.

Fortunately, they were relieved when the communications connected, and they learned that none of their territories had received any attacks.

Then the news of what had happened spread, shocking them all. Soon, the entire world was in an uproar as such a massive incident had taken place, and the new name —Slaughter Monarch—spread even further.

Many people had recorded the mana projections of the battle, and those recordings soon reached every corner of the world, even reaching beings who had remained silent for thousands of years.

Yet after witnessing a new existence possessing such terrifying power and potential, their blood boiled, and a surge of excitement ran through their bodies.

Especially on the Dragon Continent and in the Abyss, the name Slaughter Monarch could be heard everywhere.

Ordinary citizens couldn’t forget the image of the mighty black dragon with purple slit-like eyes. Many of them felt fear simply hearing his name.

Yet many powerful beings wanted to fight him. At the same time, countless rumors began spreading about the conversation between Kharos and Caelan.

Most people didn’t understand what they had actually been talking about, but that only made the mystery surrounding it grow.

However, the news about the Slaughter Monarch overshadowed everything else.

The fact that he could turn his defeated opponents into his own minions shocked the world even further. Along with that, countless other mysteries surrounding his existence began to stir throughout the entire world.

While all of this was happening in the world following the Eclipse Order’s attack on the Eastern Kingdom of the human continent, only a few hours after the incident, something entirely different was taking place inside Nova’s System Space.

Inside the System Space, just after Nova disappeared before Elaris could reach him, his enormous dragon form suddenly appeared in front of his family.

He instantly reverted to his human form and coughed up two mouthfuls of blood.

"Cough! Cough!"

His body collapsed onto the ground.

"DARLING!!"

""SON!""

""NOVA!""

""LORD NOVA!!""

Everyone was shocked and frightened when they saw Nova appear inside the System Space in his colossal dragon form, only for him to suddenly revert to human form before collapsing to the ground and violently coughing up blood.
