Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Take Down That Vegetable-Growing Old Man

"Run!"

A terrified roar burst out from one of the six remaining Extraordinary Nine Monsters.

"Quick, run! We walked right into a disaster on Dao Yi Mountain!"

Having personally witnessed their leader, the Child Emperor, along with the Pig Craftsman and Mei Xiangu, get slapped to death one after another by the approaching Dao Yi Sect Leader, the remaining members of the Extraordinary Nine Monsters were overwhelmed with terror.

’Who was it that said Dao Yi Mountain’s fortune had run out and this generation had no heroes?’

’This was clearly a massive trap.’

The Wild Daoist whipped his Iron Whisk to push back the Elder he was fighting and roared, "Let’s go! Split up! Save whoever you can!"

Among the Extraordinary Nine Monsters, his status and Martial Arts both ranked second; he was their second-in-command.

He was now the first to take to his heels, fleeing frantically in a random direction on Dao Yi Mountain.

The other five monsters did the same.

SWISH SWISH SWISH!

Terrified by Chen Sha, they had lost all will to fight and scattered in different directions.

"Don’t let them escape! We have to capture them and find out who sent them here to provoke us!"

Song Yu’s voice boomed.

"They came for Ancient Transformation Dragon! The mastermind behind this is no simple character!"

Thirty years ago, Ancient Transformation Dragon was the ninth-greatest expert in the world. Now, after being trapped on Dao Yi Mountain for three decades, his Power has only grown.

Now that his master was dead, if someone truly intended to rescue Ancient Transformation Dragon from Dao Yi Mountain and release that old monster from the Yuan Dynasty, then Dao Yi Mountain could become a field of corpses.

He had heard the Elders speak very clearly about this old Demon, how he had drained the Power of all his subordinates in the Imperial Palace and even schemed to steal the True Qi of more than one hundred Martial Arts Grandmasters...

Meanwhile, as Song Yu led numerous Daoists in pursuit of the six fleeing monsters...

WHOOSH!

Chen Sha’s body moved like a soaring dragon, parting the air. With just a few steps, he covered dozens of zhang and closed in on the slowest of the fugitives, an old monster with a goatee.

It was the Half-Baked Doctor, one of only two members of the Nine Monsters who was merely at a first-rate level.

"Second Brother, save me!"

The Half-Baked Doctor felt Chen Sha roaring up behind him like a maddened dragon emerging from the sea. He could faintly smell a metallic tang in the air—the stench of blood clinging to Chen Sha after killing the three monsters.

"Save me, quick, save me!"

But as he cried for help...

CRUNCH!!

Chen Sha’s large hand had already broken through the air, his five fingers clamping down on the man’s back and shoulder like an iron hoop.

"Down!"

As if crushed by Mount Tai, the Half-Baked Doctor’s body collapsed. His shoulder had been shattered by the strike.

But his life had been spared.

The pursuing Elders immediately rushed forward, sealed the Half-Baked Doctor’s acupoints, and said to the Little Daoists behind them,

"Take him to the stone caves in the mountain gate’s cliffs. We will interrogate him thoroughly later. We must find out what kind of organization this First-Grade Hall is and why they’re after Ancient Transformation Dragon!"

"One living captive is enough."

Hearing the Elder’s arrangements and glancing at the many innocent Daoists who had fallen in the graveyard, Chen Sha’s voice was low and furious.

"Kill the rest!"

With that, he shot off towards the Wild Daoist, the one with the greatest Power.

Everyone on the mountain was momentarily stunned by the killing intent in Chen Sha’s voice. Then, they looked back at their numerous dead and wounded disciples, and flames of rage ignited in their eyes.

"After them! Don’t let a single one get off this mountain!"

These old Elders were now burning with murderous intent.

It was a feeling mixed with humiliation.

Just two years ago, when the previous Sect Leader was still alive, when had Dao Yi Mountain ever encountered such a thing?

The world’s heroes, let alone Grandmaster Level figures like the Extraordinary Nine Monsters, not even Grandmasters or First-Grade Great Innates dared to come to the mountain and cause trouble.

To say nothing of disciples of Dao Yi Mountain being killed or injured.

But now...

"The Sect Leader has gone after the Wild Daoist. We’ll pursue the other four."

...

Meanwhile, the Wild Daoist was fleeing frantically, blundering blindly through the back of Dao Yi Mountain.

But a glance from the corner of his eye revealed Chen Sha a hundred zhang behind him in the woods, moving like a Flood Dragon, parting the air, his legs like a drawn bow holding the moon, his True Qi whistling...

He was like a bolt of lightning rapidly closing in.

’I can’t escape!’

This was the first, desperate thought that surfaced in the Wild Daoist’s mind.

’Fight back?’

’With what? Our leader, the Child Emperor, was killed in two moves.’

’My Martial Arts are a far cry from our leader’s.’

’Can’t escape!’

’Can’t win a fight!’

Just as the Wild Daoist was warring with himself, his face ashen and on the verge of collapse...

BOOM!

Chen Sha was already just three zhang behind him!

It was clear a merciless blow was about to crush the Wild Daoist from behind!

"I submit! I submit!"

In that instant, the Wild Daoist whipped his head around, faced the suffocating Palm Wind, and bellowed with his eyes shut,

"This humble Daoist begs for mercy! Spare my life! I’ll tell you anything you want to know!"

WHOOSH~~

The knife-like wind from the fist stopped three inches from the Wild Daoist’s face.

Terrified, he cautiously opened his eyes to see Chen Sha staring at him with a cold, indifferent expression.

He spoke with extreme speed,

"We Nine Monsters accepted a mission from the First-Grade Hall to come to Dao Yi Mountain and investigate the whereabouts of Ancient Transformation Dragon, who was rumored to have died thirty years ago. The First-Grade Hall is the mastermind."

Chen Sha lowered his hand. "Who founded the First-Grade Hall? How many members do they have?"

Seeing that Chen Sha was no longer in a hurry to strike, the Wild Daoist’s heart relaxed, and he quickly said, "The First-Grade Hall has recruited many experts from various nations and sects across the world. They have forty to fifty Grandmaster Level figures alone, and seven Grandmasters. The most powerful person in the hall is a young man whom everyone respectfully calls ’Young Master Qing’ or ’Chief Shopkeeper’."

Chen Sha said, "So, Young Master Qing is the First-Grade Great Innate behind the First-Grade Hall."

A thoughtful look crossed his face.

’What is this person’s relationship with Ancient Transformation Dragon? Why send people from the First-Grade Hall to Dao Yi Mountain to find him?’

"Young Master Qing... he..."

The Wild Daoist saw the thoughtful look on Chen Sha’s face and continued speaking, but halfway through, a vicious glint erupted in his eyes.

"This is all I know!"

After Chen Sha had stayed his hand, the two were less than three feet apart. The Wild Daoist knew he couldn’t escape and couldn’t win a fight. Even if he told the truth, the other party wouldn’t necessarily spare him, so he deliberately feigned weakness...

All to seize the split-second opportunity while Chen Sha was lost in thought!

CLICK!

The Wild Daoist twisted the handle of his Iron Whisk, and a dense shower of black projectiles shot out from the head of the duster, glinting coldly as they flew straight for Chen Sha’s face!

CH-CH-CH-CH-CH-CH!

At a distance of less than three feet, it seemed these cold projectiles were about to pierce straight through Chen Sha’s head.

"Clever."

Chen Sha sneered, not panicked in the slightest. The True Qi of his Great Yellow Court instantly formed a barrier before him, like a canopy. A series of DING, DING, DING sounds rang out.

All the black projectiles fell to the ground a foot in front of Chen Sha.

BANG!

The Wild Daoist’s eyes were filled with terror. He couldn’t believe that his unique hidden weapon, launched in a surprise attack, had failed to penetrate Chen Sha’s True Qi!

What was most terrifying was Chen Sha’s reaction speed!

Then, a fist, full and round like the moon, appeared before his eyes, growing infinitely larger until it smashed into his head.

SPLAT!

Chen Sha shook his hand, flicking off the blood.

"Petty tricks are useless in the face of absolute power."

The man knew Chen Sha would never let him live, so he was just feigning compliance. But given the disparity in their strength, he never stood a chance.

In the thousands of battles Chen Sha had fought against Hong Qigong, he would get ambushed by Huang Rong’s Rain of Golden Needles in the Flower Shower every dozen or so fights. His reaction to hidden weapons had been honed into a pure instinct.

’However, what he just said wasn’t necessarily all lies. To stall for time, he wouldn’t dare make up something that would show in his eyes. So, the information about the First-Grade Hall’s Young Master Qing and the number of their Grandmasters should be true...’

Chen Sha muttered to himself,

"As for whether the mysterious First-Grade Great Innate behind the First-Grade Hall is really this so-called Young Master Qing..."

Fortunately, he had left another living captive, the Half-Baked Doctor. The Elders on the mountain could interrogate him to corroborate the information.

And so, after Chen Sha had chased down and killed the Wild Daoist, the second-in-command of the Extraordinary Nine Monsters...

Only four monsters remained on the run.

Dao Yi Mountain was vast, spanning hundreds of li from front to back. Fleeing frantically, the men had split up and taken different paths through the back of the mountain. Before long, Song Yu and a group of Elders caught up to two of them.

The Iron Beak Immortal and the Puppet Master.

The other two, Copper Hand and the fake traveling monk, kept fleeing until they reached a lake at the back of the mountain.

Not far from the lake were a few thatched huts surrounded by a wicker fence.

In the yard, an old man with a white beard, white braided hair, and a vegetable basket slung over his arm was feeding chickens.

"If we keep blundering around Dao Yi Mountain, we’ll be cornered by those Daoists sooner or later!"

The two monsters were overjoyed.

"To think we’d run into an old farmer! Let’s grab him and make him lead us out of here!"

The farmer, Zhou Santong, also saw the two strange men. He paused for a moment, then smiled.
