My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building
Chapter 410: Luring a Wager
"Hahaha, great! You have to let me join in the fun when the time comes," Su Miaoke said with a laugh, full of anticipation.
She had dozens of Martial Cultivation Spirit Stones on hand now, all of which Chu Feng had won for her.
It was only because she had Chu Feng backing her up. Otherwise, with her meager strength, she would have died countless times by now without him.
Dozens of Martial Cultivation Spirit Stones were enough to make even Martial Arts Limit experts fight to the death, the kind of brawl where they would go on a killing spree.
It was just like that time with Chu Tianshan. He had only produced a single Martial Cultivation Spirit Stone, yet it drew the attention of so many Martial Arts Families that he was nearly killed by seven or eight experts at the Martial Arts Peak.
"Alright. When the time comes, I'll provoke them a little. They're all simmering with rage right now," Chu Feng said with a smile.
"Okay, but be careful not to go too far," Su Miaoke said, nodding.
Soon, it was Bai Xue's turn to enter the arena for her match.
At that moment, Chu Feng spoke up with a smile. "Venerable Xue Feng, my senior sister is up again. Don't you want to take this opportunity to win back all those Martial Cultivation Spirit Stones you lost? And you, Venerable Xue Fengjian, care to try your luck again?"
When Venerable Xue Feng heard this, his face turned livid with rage.
"Are you still going to bet on Bai Xue to win?" Venerable Xue Feng asked.
"Aren't you stating the obvious, you old fool? Bai Xue is my senior sister. Of course I'm betting on her. I only believe in her!" Chu Feng said, intentionally provoking him.
'He was already starting to set a trap for them. This time, I'm going to drain them all dry!'
"Venerable Chu Feng, your senior sister Bai Xue is up against You Qingtian of the Netherworld Sect this time," the Martial Arts Venerable from the Three Swords Sect reminded him kindly.
"I am aware. Thank you for the reminder, Venerable of the Three Swords Sect. But I believe a disciple of my Celestial Sword Sect can dominate the field, fearless against any foe!" Chu Feng declared with an air of authority.
"Heh!"
The moment Chu Feng finished speaking, several sneers echoed through the arena, dripping with disdain.
Clearly, no one was convinced.
However, these people had no idea that this was precisely the reaction Chu Feng was aiming for.
So, Chu Feng said directly, "What? Still not convinced? If you're so sure, how about a wager? You name the stakes!"
After Chu Feng's challenge, a voice rose from the crowd. "Heh, you? We're afraid you don't have the capital to bet against us."
Chu Feng glanced over. The ones speaking were a few of the old women from Spirit Sword Valley. The enmity between their two sides ran deep.
"Well, well, if it isn't Spirit Sword Valley. Are you all feeling unconvinced?" Chu Feng asked with a grin.
"You want to bet with us? We're afraid you don't have the capital. You can't afford it!" the old women said with cold sarcasm. They were all at the Martial Arts Peak Realm, holding high-ranking positions like Elder or Vice Sect Leader.
"Tch, what a joke. Is there anything in this world I, Chu Feng, can't afford to bet? Go on, name your stakes. I'll take any bet!" Chu Feng declared with a boisterous laugh, his arrogance on full display.
"Heh, fine. Since you're so arrogant, let's bet one hundred Martial Cultivation Spirit Stones. I doubt you even have a hundred of them on you in total."
"So how about this: if you lose, we won't take your Martial Cultivation Spirit Stones. Just hand over the Heaven-Slaying Sword as payment. How about it? Do you dare?" one of the old women from Spirit Sword Valley asked with a sinister tone.
The tone these women used infuriated Chu Feng. They were simply too arrogant, too high and mighty.
"Fellow Daoists from Spirit Sword Valley, I urge you to reconsider," the Seven Kills Sword Master interjected, stepping forward to mediate.
The stakes were simply too high. One wrong move and things could turn hostile.
If that happened, both sides would surely end up in a bloody battle, and someone would likely be killed.
"Chu Feng, I'll bet another twenty Martial Cultivation Spirit Stones against you! Do you dare to take it?" Xue Wujian yelled at that moment.
"You people are truly vicious, one after another placing such heavy bets! Are you not going to stop until you've ruined me? Fine! Since you've come looking for a fight, I'll see this through to the end! Life and death are ruled by fate, wealth and honor by the heavens! I refuse to believe my luck is that bad! Seven Kills Sword Master, please act as a witness for us!" Chu Feng's face was dark, his expression one of pure fury.
In reality, his expression was a complete act, designed for no other reason than to solidify his opponents' resolve.
"Young friend Chu Feng, I urge you to reconsider. The stakes are too high this time," the Seven Kills Sword Master advised.
"Isn't the path of cultivation just like a gamble anyway? These are all worldly possessions. If I lose them, I can just earn more. Come on, the people from Spirit Sword Valley dared to make such an offer. If I act timid and shrink back in fear, can I still call myself a man? Let's put our stakes on the table," Chu Feng said.
He immediately unslung the Heaven-Slaying Sword from his back and handed it to the Seven Kills Sword Master, then produced twenty Martial Cultivation Spirit Stones to go with it.
As the Seven Kills Sword Master took the Heaven-Slaying Sword from Chu Feng, he gently ran his hand over the blade, a look of sheer astonishment in his eyes.
This sword had a legendary history. It had been famous for centuries, and there was no telling how many powerful experts it had slain!
He couldn't believe that he would one day not only see the legendary Heaven-Slaying Sword, but actually hold it in his own hands.
"Good. Since you're being so decisive, we won't waste any time either. Here are one hundred Martial Cultivation Spirit Stones." The old women from Spirit Sword Valley promptly handed over their stakes.
