My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building
Chapter 342: Provoked
"Hah, what a joke. I don’t know if you’ve heard, but the Celestial Sword Sect actually sent two little kids over this time. I can’t tell if the Celestial Sword Sect is doing it on purpose, or if they’ve really fallen this far."
The voice drifted out from the main hall, and both Bai Han and Chu Feng, who were standing outside, heard it.
Bai Han’s expression shifted, and she quickened her pace slightly.
When she strode inside, her eyes were filled with fury. She spoke directly, "Has the Celestial Sword Sect fallen? Why don’t you try us and find out? I’m just afraid you don’t have the guts. I haven’t seen the Snow Sword Sect’s skills improve over the years, but your mouths have certainly gotten a lot bigger."
"Bai Han, do you think I’m wrong? Are you telling me your Celestial Sword Sect has no idea what it’s done? This Martial Arts Grand Ceremony only happens once every fifty years, and all the Major Sects of the Great Snow Mountain take it seriously every time."
"And your Celestial Sword Sect? Just going through the motions like this? Sending two little kids over—what, are you just trying to fill the quota? If you two get pinned to the ground and beaten, won’t the Celestial Sword Sect bring shame upon all the Major Sects of the Great Snow Mountain?"
The speaker was a burly man dressed in snow-white robes. A heavy-looking broadsword rested by his left hand, and his eyes were filled with disdain and anger.
Though his words were harsh, there was no denying his immense size. It looked as if one of his punches could kill two ordinary men.
The man seemed to have held a grudge against the Celestial Sword Sect for a long time, and his voice was booming.
"Hah. Whether the Celestial Sword Sect is shamed or not isn’t decided by your words. If you have a problem, then have the Snow Sword Sect come and challenge us," Bai Han said imperiously.
"Bai Han, stop spouting nonsense! If something goes wrong at this year’s Martial Arts Grand Ceremony, can the Celestial Sword Sect take responsibility for it?" the burly man berated.
"Why should the Celestial Sword Sect be responsible? What’s it got to do with us? If you have a problem, come and fight. Otherwise, get lost," Bai Han shot back, not tolerating his attitude for a second.
With that, Bai Han sat down with Chu Feng.
"Exactly. Bai Han’s right. If you have a problem, then just fight it out. Besides, we have twenty-four Martial Arts Peak masters on the Great Snow Mountain. What kind of accident could possibly happen?" a middle-aged man said at that moment.
His tone, however, was rather effeminate.
As he spoke, he held his hand in a delicate pose. That, combined with his posture and manner of speaking, made him seem just like a woman. Most terrifying of all, the man was even wearing makeup.
"Hah. Then you’d better pray you don’t bring shame to the Great Snow Mountain," the burly man said, staring coldly at Chu Feng and Bai Han.
Chu Feng felt a deep sense of hostility from the man.
"What are you staring at me for, you big lump?" Chu Feng asked with a smile.
"You must be Chu Feng, the Young Master of the Chu Family," the burly man asked.
"I am. Is there something you need?" Chu Feng asked from his seat with a faint smile.
"I heard that last year, you sent the Gang Leader of the Qing Gang flying off a cliff with a single sword strike?" the burly man asked.
At this time, there were only eight or nine people in the main hall, as many had yet to arrive. With nothing better to do, the others all turned to look at Chu Feng curiously.
In fact, everyone had heard the name Chu Feng, and they were all aware of his past achievements.
However, they considered that particular achievement to be just so-so—average, barely passable. After all, compared to the Martial Arts Peak experts from the various Martial Arts Sects and Schools, the Gang Leader of the Qing Gang was still severely lacking.
Furthermore, these Martial Arts Sects of the Great Snow Mountain had histories stretching back at least a thousand years.
The youngest among them was this very Snow Sword Sect, with a history of only a few hundred years.
In truth, the reason the Snow Sword Sect was at odds with the Celestial Sword Sect was because the founder of the Snow Sword Sect had once split off from the Celestial Sword Sect.
"That’s right. The Gang Leader of the Qing Gang was that weak. I cut him down with a single, casual strike. It was easy," Chu Feng said with a smile, his words laced with a disdain that sounded incredibly arrogant.
In reality, Chu Feng was doing this on purpose. Since everyone already looked down on him and was filled with hostility, he couldn’t possibly back down. He had to display his strength when necessary; otherwise, people would think he was a pushover.
"You’ve got a big mouth, kid. The way you talk, you make it sound like someone at the Human Martial Arts Peak Realm is completely worthless," the burly man sneered, his eyes filled with scorn.
Seeing this guy repeatedly trying to argue with him, Chu Feng started to get annoyed.
"What? You got a problem with that? If you’re not convinced, let’s be more direct about it," Chu Feng said.
"Good. I like being direct. You’re pretty arrogant for someone so young. I’ll be blunt: you’re not from the Great Snow Mountain, and I don’t like your attitude, so I want to fight you," the burly man said without mincing words.
"Xue Wujian, if you want a fight, I’ll fight you!" Bai Han shot to her feet, slapping the arm of her chair as she spoke coldly.
