My Most Beautiful Fiancée
Chapter 368 367: There Is Also Such a Master
He Zongshan's attack was instantly blocked.
He Zongshan shuddered. 'Wei Dingguo has a master of this caliber by his side?'
Infuriated, he struck at the Grandmaster with even greater force.
But he hit nothing but air. The enemy Grandmaster had lunged straight for his mother's bedside.
He Zongshan was truly panicking. God only knew what would happen next.
But his panic lasted less than two seconds before he saw Mu Lin spring into action.
He instantly felt a sense of relief.
'With Mu Lin here, what is there to fear?'
Mu Lin rushed forward at lightning speed, blocking the unknown Grandmaster.
'To think he was disguised as a doctor. This person must have been hiding in the shadows for a long time.'
If Mu Lin hadn't been there, who knows what the outcome would have been.
Mu Lin simply raised a hand. The assassin was sent tumbling backward, crashing hard onto the ground with a tremendous thud.
The man's bones shattered. He coughed up a mouthful of blood and, in that instant, was utterly and completely dead.
"That..." He Zongshan let out a long breath. At least his mother's life was safe.
"Mr. Mu, thank you! It's a good thing you were here, or my mother would have..."
Mu Lin waved his hand casually and said to He Zongshan, "It was a small matter, no need to be so worked up. Besides, good people like your mother are blessed with good fortune."
Mu Lin raised a hand, and the door to the hospital room slowly swung shut on its own.
Sweat beaded on He Zongshan's forehead. He had no idea what Mu Lin was doing and could only stare blankly as he acted.
The door closed, trapping Wei Dingguo and his subordinate doctors inside the room.
Wei Dingguo's face turned ashen. His words were sharp. "What do you think you're doing? Are you planning to commit murder in broad daylight?"
Mu Lin, however, was cold. "Have I killed you? Why are you so worked up? If I had killed you, then you'd have a reason to be. Unfortunately for you, I haven't."
"I'm the director of this hospital! Do you have any idea what the repercussions are for locking me in here?"
Mu Lin sneered. "Repercussions? Who gave you the gall to talk about repercussions? You've already thrown away all your shame, so why would I care about your damn repercussions?"
"You spent a decade in arduous study to master medicine, not to practice it and save lives, but to harm people. Did you ever consider the repercussions of that? I'd say you didn't consider them at all. Piss off!"
Mu Lin was angry. Very angry.
'Once you put on that white coat, you should never harbor malicious intent toward a patient.'
'But this bastard actually schemes to harm people. He's unforgivable.'
But Wei Dingguo showed not a hint of remorse. His eyes were sharp, his demeanor arrogant and condescending.
"Do I need you to lecture me on my choices? Who the hell do you think you are? Mind your own business, or I'll make sure you don't see the sun tomorrow!"
He wasn't acting alone; he had an extremely profound Martial Dao power backing him.
It wasn't that no one had ever challenged him, but they were all quickly beaten into submission. Did this guy really think he'd be the exception?
Mu Lin said coolly, "I think your carefree days are about to end. It looks like it's time for a new director!"
Wei Dingguo burst out laughing. He actually laughed out loud right then and there.
This was simply laughable.
Wei Dingguo turned to push the door open and leave, but for some reason, even though he pressed the handle down, he couldn't pull it open.
It was locked tight.
"Did I say you could leave?" Mu Lin said, glancing at He Zongshan.
"Chairman He, every injustice has a source. These men are clearly not the masterminds, but there's no harm in collecting some interest first. I'll take full responsibility."
He Zongshan trembled when he heard this, not quite understanding what Mu Lin meant.
"This... Mr. Mu, isn't this inappropriate?"
"Like I said, I'll handle it if anything happens. In for a penny, in for a pound. I couldn't care less."
A sharp glint flashed in He Zongshan's eyes. He charged toward the men, radiating killing intent.
For a moment, Wei Dingguo was scared out of his wits, with no idea how this would end.
He thought his life was about to end right here and now.
He Zongshan sent Wei Dingguo flying with a single punch, but he controlled his strength, not aiming to kill.
Wei Dingguo suffered a few broken ribs, but none of his vital organs were injured.
He Zongshan was a Grandmaster, yet he was holding back. This was very much unlike him.
Mu Lin knew, of course, that it wasn't that He Zongshan was unable to fight, but that he was afraid of the consequences for himself.
'Perhaps because I helped him see through the plot, this devoted son is now overcome with gratitude.'
Mu Lin didn't really care. Whether Wei Dingguo lived or died had nothing to do with him. Since He Zongshan wanted to spare his life, that was his business.
He Zongshan stood up, then dropped to his knees before Mu Lin.
"Mr. Mu, thank you! I will remember everything that happened today! Words can't express my gratitude. In the future, if there's ever anything you need, I, He Zongshan, will risk my life to get it done for you."
Mu Lin didn't stop him. 'Letting He Zongshan kneel might be better for him.'
"Alright, get up. I didn't do much. When Captain Yun arrives, I'll have him handle your mother's discharge procedures."
The soporific Wei Dingguo had used was a Spirit Medicine, which fell under the jurisdiction of the Military Suppression Bureau. Mu Lin had already informed Yun Cheng directly.
Yun Cheng would definitely come to investigate, so he could handle the discharge paperwork at the same time.
Yun Cheng arrived, ordered his subordinates to quickly gather evidence, and bowed slightly to Mu Lin. "Thank you for your assistance, Mr. Mu!"
Mu Lin said, "Besides that, there's one other thing. It's about Chairman He's mother being discharged. If possible, could I ask Captain Yun to mediate?"
Yun Cheng smiled. "That's no trouble at all."
He stepped out for a moment, and a nurse soon ran over to inform He Zongshan that his mother could be discharged.
With that taken care of, Mu Lin prepared to leave.
He had only taken a few steps when he saw a familiar figure flash past.
Looking closely, he saw it was Qiao Canhua.
"Uncle Qiao!" Mu Lin called out in pleasant surprise, taking two quick steps to catch up.
They had parted ways less than a month ago, but Mu Lin had already been through so much. Seeing Qiao Canhua again now felt wonderfully familiar.
Qiao Canhua was also happy to see Mu Lin. "Mu Lin!" he said excitedly. "What are you doing here in Lanyang? I thought you were in Anhua!"
Mu Lin replied, "I'm here doing a favor for someone. But what about you, Uncle Qiao? Why are you at the hospital? Is something wrong? Is there anything I can do to help?"
Qiao Canhua sighed deeply. "It's my wife..."
Yun Cheng walked out of the hospital, saw Mu Lin talking with someone, and gave a distant nod. He then waited, planning to leave with Mu Lin.
Mu Lin waved him off. "You guys go on ahead. I'll find my own way back later!"
Yun Cheng agreed. He glanced at Qiao Canhua, thinking the man looked familiar. 'I've seen him in the real estate section of the financial news.'
'To a man like me on a fixed salary, he's a completely untouchable figure.'
'Yet Mu Lin can chat and laugh with him so casually, like they're close. How interesting.'
He turned and left.
Mu Lin asked, "What's wrong with Madam Qiao?"
"Well, she hasn't been sleeping well lately. She has nightmares constantly, and she's in a terrible state. She wakes up crying every morning and has started smashing things..."
"I was very worried about her, so I brought her to the hospital for a check-up..."
Just then, a young man ran up to Qiao Canhua, shouting frantically, "Chairman Qiao, your wife—she's trying to jump from the building!"
Qiao Canhua was terrified. This was a first. 'Why is she acting like this?!'
He lost his composure completely. Forgetting all about Mu Lin, he sprinted back into the hospital.
Mu Lin followed close behind, moving so fast that he was only half a step behind Qiao Canhua.
"What is happening? I don't understand why it's come to this!"
Qiao Canhua felt helpless. His beloved wife's illness was truly torturous. Even a man of iron would have his composure worn away by these daily episodes.
Mu Lin found it strange. 'The Madam Qiao I remember wasn't like this. How could she suddenly become so irrational?'
Before they even reached the room, Mu Lin was shocked to see Madam Qiao clinging to the window, half her body already outside. If a nurse wasn't desperately holding her back, she would have already leaped out.
Qiao Canhua was petrified. His heart ached with worry and sorrow. He didn't even dare to call out his wife's name for fear of startling her.
