My Most Beautiful Fiancée
Chapter 196 195: Treatment Plan
Now that he understood more, he naturally realized Elder Lin's power didn't come from nowhere. The reason he could call the shots in Anhua was largely because the stakes there were small enough.
The other families were willing to grant him that deference, letting him build up goodwill.
Still, the Lin Family's help was quite important. Without them, the Li Family wouldn't have been able to secure any truly large-scale projects.
Mu Lin was lost in thought, trying to sort through the events of the past.
Just then, his phone suddenly rang. 'Could it be Li Xue, feeling insecure and calling to check up on me?'
A closer look revealed it was Lin Jin.
"Mr. Lin, it's been a while! I was just thinking of you!"
Beside him, Ye Chunshui was startled. 'Who is this Mr. Lin?'
'How does Mu Lin know so many influential people?'
The Zhou Family was one thing; they lived close enough to Li Xue's family, so it was understandable he'd get to know them eventually.
'But who is this Mr. Lin?'
Lin Jin's anxious voice came through the receiver. "Divine Doctor Mu, could I trouble you to come to Di Yang? My father suddenly vomited blood and collapsed! I don't dare call any other doctors. I'm begging you to come take a look!"
'Isn't this just reckless?' Mu Lin thought. 'What if I hadn't come to Di Yang? Were you just going to wait for me?'
But since he was in Di Yang anyway, he would naturally help if he could.
Mu Lin replied, "As it happens, I'm in Di Yang on business. Wait for me. I'll be right over!"
Lin Jin was overjoyed. This incredible coincidence offered his father a glimmer of hope for survival.
Zhou Qianfan asked, "What happened? Why the rush?"
Mu Lin said, "Ah… Elder Lin Tian vomited blood and collapsed. Lin Jin asked me to go treat him."
Zhou Qianfan grunted in acknowledgment. He had monitored Lin Tian's every move the last time he was in Anhua.
He remembered that Elder Lin had been cured at the Holy Medicine Hall. The story was that an unassuming young clerk had defied all convention and used a radical treatment method to pull the old man back from the brink of death.
Thinking back, he realized that so-called "young clerk" was probably Mu Lin.
"Then we shouldn't delay. I'll drive you! Don't worry, I'll leave as soon as you're out of the car!"
Zhou Qianfan added hastily.
He was also worried about getting too deeply involved with the Lin Family. After all, the Lin Family was like a god descending from the mountain—though still immense, their power was already beginning to wane.
Getting too close to them was not a good thing.
The Lin Family's villa.
In a south-facing bedroom, Lin Tian lay on an opulent bed, as pale and frail as a sheet of paper.
A group of elderly doctors were gathered around, each one a famous name in their own right.
But now, a gloomy pall hung over all of them.
"Mr. Lin, it's not that we don't want to treat him seriously. It's just that this situation is incredibly difficult!"
"Elder Lin has a typical deficiency of both Qi and Blood. Considering his age, his constitution is already quite remarkable."
"In my opinion, you should be more accepting of the situation. He's an old man, after all. He's seen it all. There's no need to beat around the bush and say nothing!"
Lin Jin gritted his teeth in anger. "Every one of you claims to be a famous doctor. You all showed up uninvited, and now all you're doing is pouring cold water on my father's chances."
"I'm telling you, I don't need you to treat my father! I have found a master of the Medical Dao, and he will absolutely not give up on him!"
Lin Jin was furious, but his heart was still filled with anxiety. He didn't know where Mu Lin was, nor if his father's condition would stabilize after he arrived. It was all unknown.
One of the old traditional doctors looked at another. "Doctor Liao, you've studied difficult and complex cases. Mayor Hu himself calls you a doctor's doctor. Do you have any thoughts on this illness?"
This was the very same Doctor Liao whom Mu Lin had bailed out back in Anhua.
Right now, he really didn't have the confidence to offer any more suggestions.
His trip to Anhua had completely shattered his worldview. He had already resolved to reset everything and start his learning from scratch.
The Liu Family hadn't ground him into dog food, and for that, Doctor Liao was already more than satisfied.
'For someone as young as Mu Lin to be able to treat such a major and complex case... now that's real skill.'
'What right did I have to act so conceited, just flaunting my age?'
"I can't see the cause. Just like everyone else, I cannot explain why Elder Lin would suddenly vomit blood and collapse."
"But I believe Elder Lin can definitely recover. I hope no one gives up and that we do everything possible to prolong his life."
The old doctors all had a tacit understanding about this. It was something that absolutely had to be done.
A patient's family wouldn't cause trouble if you over-treated, but if you cut back on procedures and they found out, it would be time for a lawsuit!
For old doctors like them, they wouldn't even be qualified for a lawsuit. The patient's family would probably demand a life for a life.
The main reason they dared to come was that they knew that while Lin Jin was impulsive and quick to anger, he wasn't an unreasonable person.
"Grandpa! What happened to Grandpa?" A vibrant, stylishly dressed young woman ran in from the doorway.
She was Lin Tian's granddaughter and Lin Jin's daughter, Lin Shishi.
Hearing that her grandfather was in a coma, she had immediately returned from school. She wanted to be by his side, so if the worst were to happen, she could be there to see him off.
Seeing Lin Shishi about to rush toward the bed, Lin Jin quickly stopped her.
"Shishi, don't be foolish! If your grandfather could wake up, he would have by now."
"The doctors are still trying to figure out a treatment. You can't disrupt their process! If you do, we'll be the ones to blame!"
Lin Shishi's eyes were wide. After wiping away her tears, she asked, "So, have they come up with a treatment plan?"
This question left all the doctors speechless, their expressions turning grim.
Not only had they failed to come up with a treatment plan, but they were now wavering on whether to even continue treatment at all.
"Say something!" Lin Shishi shrieked.
The doctors frantically pushed Doctor Liao forward. He sighed and said,
"Miss Lin, it's not that we don't want to treat Elder Lin. It's just that he currently has a severe deficiency of both Qi and Blood, which makes treatment incredibly difficult. Even these IV drips are essentially futile…"
"If you can accept reality, perhaps it's best to be the one to make the hard choice… and just let the old man rest in peace."
Doctor Liao spoke with such sorrow that Lin Shishi couldn't help but burst into tears.
"Doctor Liao, aren't you from Beijing? Is there really nothing even you can do?"
Looking at the despair on Lin Shishi's face, Doctor Liao wished he could just slap himself a few times.
He could only shake his head in silence.
"Shishi, don't worry, it's not hopeless. I've asked a Divine Doctor to come. I believe he will definitely have a way to cure Grandpa!"
The expressions of the surrounding old doctors shifted. "Elder Liao already said there's no cure. Who else could Mr. Lin possibly find to treat him?"
"Unless…"
The old doctors exchanged glances, their faces turning grim.
"Unless it's one of those elusive heretical doctors."
But how could worldly people like them possibly contact such individuals?
Lin Jin said, "It's not a heretical doctor! It's a junior I have great faith in. With his help, I think things will be fine!"
The old doctors looked at each other. 'This is just too ridiculous,' they thought.
The most renowned old doctor was standing right here, completely helpless.
Seeing that Lin Tian's condition was critical, Lin Shishi said frantically,
"Dad, if we don't get Grandpa treated soon, something terrible is going to happen!"
Lin Jin said calmly, "What are you so anxious about? My chosen person is about to arrive."
Lin Shishi curled her lip. "When is he coming? How long ago did you contact him?"
Lin Jin replied, "About ten minutes or so ago. I think he should be arriving any moment."
"Dad, what if this person you picked is a charlatan? If he ends up killing Grandpa, we'll never be able to forgive ourselves!"
Lin Jin said, "He is no charlatan. He's the one who cured your grandfather the last time he was sick. If not for that, I wouldn't have dared to call him."
Lin Shishi let out a long sigh. "Dad, you're unbelievable. I really don't think this is going to work!"
As soon as the words left her mouth, a person walked through the door.
"Sorry, I'm late!" Mu Lin glanced at the time. It had only been a little over ten minutes from when he received the call to his arrival.
But for a patient in critical condition, a single minute could be the difference between life and death.
A guard followed close behind Mu Lin. "Stop right there! No one enters without the Patriarch's permission!"
Mu Lin chuckled. "Isn't your Patriarch unconscious? How could he possibly give you an order?"
The guard was left speechless. He truly had no answer to Mu Lin's question.
Mu Lin added, "So, don't bother me. You really can't afford the consequences of any delay."
