Chapter 58 - 59: Sleeve Saber Severs an Arm, How Will You Respond?
Chapter 58: Chapter 59: Sleeve Saber Severs an Arm, How Will You Respond?
With those words, Wei Jie turned into a blur, chasing in the direction Su Chen had fled.
His speed was incredible. Sprinting like a gust of wind sweeping through a mountain forest, he set the surrounding grass and branches swaying violently. Soon, he caught up to Su Chen.
"Yang Guo, did you think you could get away?" Wei Jie sneered, appearing in front of Su Chen in a flash.
"I am not Yang Guo!" Su Chen shot back. Although he still appeared to have only one arm, he had changed his outfit.
"Heh, stop pretending." Wei Jie mocked. "If I’m guessing right, Yang Guo probably isn’t your real name, is it?"
Hearing this, Su Chen said nothing. His eyes darted around as if looking for an escape route.
Seeing this, Wei Jie shook his head and laughed. "Trying to run? If you hadn’t been discovered, you might have had a chance. But now? Even if you grew wings, you wouldn’t escape!"
"I have a question," Su Chen said, firing back with a question of his own instead of answering.
"What question?" Wei Jie asked in confusion.
"Why do you talk so much nonsense?"
Before his voice faded, Su Chen exploded into motion. Instead of fleeing, he charged furiously at Wei Jie.
"You overestimate yourself!"
Wei Jie’s eyes flashed with a cold glint as his body shot forward like an arrow. When he was less than three meters from Su Chen, his body abruptly tilted. He slammed a heavy palm strike against the ground with both hands, using the immense rebounding force to propel his horizontal body violently through the air toward Su Chen.
His kicking feet became a blur, moving as fast as lightning and striking with the momentum of a thunderbolt. Fierce gusts of wind blasted outward, rattling the eardrums and moving far too fast for the eye to track.
Seeing Wei Jie’s feet rapidly approaching, Su Chen dodged to the side.
However, Wei Jie’s feet seemed to have eyes of their own, abruptly changing direction at a bizarre angle. His feet turned into terrifying weapons, while his hands constantly shifted position to maintain his balance. With a piercing gaze, he locked onto Su Chen’s figure.
Realizing he couldn’t dodge in time, Su Chen met the attack head-on.
BANG BANG BANG!
The sound of fists and feet colliding rang out endlessly like beating drums.
Wei Jie’s leg techniques were not only horrifyingly fast but also shockingly powerful. This was Su Chen’s first time encountering someone so formidable with their kicks; the man’s feet were even more agile than an ordinary person’s arms. If an ordinary person took a hit from a kick like that, they would likely be killed on the spot.
Wei Jie, currently exchanging blows with Su Chen, was secretly shocked. He suspected that this Yang Guo’s strength had already achieved minor mastery in Energy Cultivation. Although Su Chen had seemed a bit flustered at first, he soon began handling the attacks with ease, growing increasingly comfortable as the fight dragged on. What shocked him even more was that Su Chen was actually able to block his kick entirely unscathed.
After all, the destructive power of that kick was something not even an entry-level Martial Artist in Energy Cultivation could necessarily withstand.
Suddenly, Wei Jie’s gaze sharpened, and a smile crept onto the corners of his mouth. With a focused stare, he thought, "Here it comes."
Just as the thought crossed his mind, he saw Su Chen’s figure step half a pace backward.
It was as if Su Chen had spotted the flaw Wei Jie had intentionally left open. Then, an arm that shouldn’t have been there suddenly shot out from his sleeve.
Accompanied by a loud SHING, Wei Jie’s vision darkened for a split second as an afterimage flashed past. The cold gleam radiating from the blade’s edge washed over Wei Jie, sending chills down his spine.
"Hmm?"
However, right at that moment, Wei Jie thrust a palm out and flipped his body sharply to the side. Aiming one foot at Su Chen’s arm and kicking out at the steel saber with the other, he made contact with both at the exact same time.
BANG.
RING.
Su Chen had tightly clenched his other hand into a fist, throwing a punch that violently collided with his opponent’s foot. At the same time, in a flash of lightning, Wei Jie’s other foot struck the flat of the steel saber, sending the blade vibrating wildly.
The terrifying impact cascaded outward like a raging flood the instant their limbs clashed, forcing both men to stumble backward.
Su Chen’s hand gripping the steel saber could clearly feel the intense reverberations traveling up the blade, causing his entire arm to tremble slightly. He shook his arm, sending a shocking burst of sheer force surging forward to forcefully suppress the shaking blade back to stillness.
Looking up, he saw Wei Jie staring at him with a wide grin.
"Such a despicable trick won’t work on me!" Wei Jie mocked contemptuously.
From the various pieces of intelligence he’d gathered on Su Chen, he had already known his target was hiding a lethal move. Now, it seemed the rumors were true. Fortunately, he was fully prepared. Even if he hadn’t known in advance, he was confident he could have reacted in time. At most, he would have sustained a non-fatal injury.
Upon hearing this, Su Chen didn’t say a word. Instead, he plunged the steel saber directly into the ground.
Seeing this, Wei Jie’s pupils contracted slightly before he laughed. "Without that saber, what exactly are you going to fight me with?"
With that, Wei Jie took the initiative and launched an offensive. The two were less than three meters apart. In the blink of an eye, Wei Jie’s devastating kicks rained down.
BANG BANG BANG.
The fierce battle erupted once again. The surrounding flora bore the brunt of their devastation, leaving trees leaning and grass trampled to a pulp.
"It’s time to end this!"
After a violent clash, Wei Jie advanced instead of retreating. Darting forward like a phantom, his attacks became impossibly fierce.
This time, he mobilized his internal energy. Clinging to his legs, the energy erupted out the exact moment he made contact with Su Chen, like it had finally found an outlet. Likewise, Su Chen manipulated the two strands of energy in his arm. Just as Wei Jie’s power surged forth, his own erupted instantaneously.
The collision of their energies produced a destructive force far greater than imagined. Following a muffled thud, an ear-splitting boom echoed through the air, sending both of their bodies shooting backward violently.
"What domineering energy!"
"What robust energy!"
Su Chen’s energy was incomparably domineering. Enhanced by a dual-layered burst, the sheer amount of energy was small, but its lethality was astonishing. Wei Jie’s energy, on the other hand, was exceptionally robust. In terms of volume alone, it completely crushed Su Chen’s, being almost several times greater.
Yet in their exchange, they were evenly matched.
The two stood firmly in place, staring at one another from a distance. The next moment, Su Chen shot forward, launching the first attack. The invading energy that had surged from Wei Jie into his body was obliterated the instant it entered, failing to stir up even the slightest ripple.
In contrast, Wei Jie did not seem to have neutralized the residual effects of Su Chen’s energy. Forced into a defensive stance against Su Chen’s strikes, he was beaten back step after step.
However, this situation did not last long.
After a few rounds, a smile surfaced on Wei Jie’s face. He had finally eliminated the internal effects of the foreign energy. Just as he prepared to counterattack, he suddenly saw a sneer flash across Su Chen’s face. In the next heartbeat, a cold glimmer zipped past his eyes, and a sudden chill ran down Wei Jie’s spine.
"Oh no!" Wei Jie paled in shock. He had absolutely never expected that a short blade was actually concealed along Su Chen’s arm.
The debut of the Sleeve Saber flashed like a streak of starlight, shaking Wei Jie to his core and bringing a touch of panic to his previously calm eyes. He wanted to retreat, but it was too late. How could Su Chen easily allow him to dodge a killer move he had spent so long preparing?
Watching helplessly as the short blade was about to cleave into his head, Wei Jie’s face instantly twisted with boundless madness.
SLICE.
Su Chen’s pupils contracted, a flash of horror in his eyes.
The instant blood sprayed out, an arm flew freely through the air before hitting the ground with a heavy thud.
"Ahhhhh!"
