Chapter 33: Chapter 33: The One-Armed Reappears, Fighting a Power Training Martial Artist
"A Power Training Martial Artist!"
Although Yan Que’s voice was not loud, it landed in everyone’s ears like a sudden clap of thunder, stirring up waves of shock. Power Training Martial Artists were so rare that they could be counted on one hand even in White Stone City. They were seldom seen on normal days, and each of them held a prominent status.
Who would have thought that not only would they encounter one today, but they would also make an enemy of him? What made everyone feel especially awful was the fact that a Power Training Martial Artist could have done anything else, yet he chose to be a bandit robbing passing merchant caravans. Wasn’t this blatantly bullying honest people?!
For a moment, everyone’s expressions turned grim.
Upon learning the Third Boss’s true strength, the slight upper hand that the Fang Family guards had just gained by suppressing the bandits was instantly reversed.
"Leave those two alive. Kill the rest without mercy!" Just then, the Third Boss pointed his blade at Yan Que and Fang Rou. He looked toward his bandits, his cold voice ringing out.
"Yes, sir!"
Hearing this, the bandits’ morale surged. In contrast, the people of the Fang Family were thrown into a panic by his words.
"Run!" Ignoring his internal injuries, Yan Que couldn’t help but shout. Under these circumstances, every person who managed to escape was a victory.
He then looked at Fang Rou and struggled to his feet with her support. "Rou, I’ll hold him off in a moment. Use that chance to escape!" Yan Que said in a lowered voice.
"Uncle Yan Que..." At this moment, Fang Rou was in a complete panic. She had never experienced such a scene before. She originally thought that with Yan Que’s strength, they certainly wouldn’t have to fear this gang of bandits. She never expected him to actually get injured.
Before she could finish speaking, Yan Que stopped her with a glance, gesturing for her to stay quiet. Just as he prepared to pick up his blade to continue fighting the Third Boss, his pupils suddenly contracted. "Where is my blade?" he wondered. Looking around, he couldn’t find a single trace of his steel blade.
"Uncle, watch out!" Fang Rou suddenly screamed in anxiety from the side.
Hearing her voice, Yan Que had no time to worry about where his weapon was and looked up. Seeing the Third Boss charging at him from the front, he shoved Fang Rou away. Instead of retreating, he advanced to meet the attack head-on.
Soon, the two clashed again, but the current Yan Que was simply no match for the Third Boss. After a few exchanges, he was struck down once more, suffering severe injuries.
Looking at the smiling Third Boss, Yan Que said sternly, "Hmph, kill me or torture me, do as you please!"
"Quite a tough guy, aren’t you? Relax, I won’t kill you," the Third Boss sneered. Then, changing his tone, he added coldly, "However, your tone annoys me. Let’s see if you can still act so tough after I chop off your arm!"
Saying so, the Third Boss walked toward Yan Que, step by step, as if deliberately torturing him, waiting for him to show a begging expression. Yan Que’s expression predictably changed upon hearing this. He was a Swordman; without his arms, how could he wield a blade?
"Don’t even think about hurting my uncle!" Fang Rou blocked the Third Boss’s path, speaking stubbornly.
Seeing this, a glint flashed in the Third Boss’s eyes. He instantly took a lunging step forward, his chilling palm wind howling as it struck out.
BAM!
A deep, explosive sound of collision rang out.
"Hm? Who are you?" the Third Boss asked. He stumbled back several steps in succession, staring solemnly at the one-armed man wearing a black trench coat.
With only one arm and half a long sleeve, the man was particularly eye-catching. He had a burly appearance and a tall stature; his sheer size alone was equivalent to two of Fang Rou. Just standing there, the man made the Third Boss feel a faint pressure, a lingering sense of crisis hovering in his mind. Especially after their brief exchange just now, he had gained a deeper understanding of the black-clad man’s strength.
This person was very strong!
THUD!
Facing the Third Boss’s question, Su Chen didn’t say a word and directly charged forward. Any unnecessary chatter could wait until he beat the man to death!
Seeing this, the Third Boss gave a muffled grunt. A glint of cold intent flashed through his eyes, and his figure shot forward like a cannonball.
"That is... my blade!" In the rear, while Fang Rou was still marveling at the sudden appearance of the black-clad man, Yan Que accidentally caught a glimpse of the steel blade at Su Chen’s waist. Wasn’t that his weapon?
CLANG CLANG CLANG!
Chilling gusts of wind wrapped around their blade edges, exploding outward the moment the two clashed, whipping their sleeves and tossing their hair. Afterimages spread around the two men. The intertwining light and shadows dazzled the onlookers, leaving them dizzy and mesmerized. In just a few moments, the two had exchanged over a dozen moves, locked in a fierce, inseparable battle where neither could gain the upper hand.
"This man’s blade techniques are incredibly strong!"
Watching the battle from the sidelines, Yan Que was initially somewhat worried that Su Chen would be no match for the Third Boss. However, after observing for a while, he realized the truth. Su Chen’s blade techniques were exceptionally masterful. It was obvious he had trained this set of techniques to its absolute peak, perhaps even transcending it.
With his experienced eyes, he could naturally see the flaw in Su Chen’s blade techniques: it boasted strong explosive power, but lacked stamina for prolonged fighting. Yet, Su Chen actually used his own physical advantages to compensate for this flaw, unleashing the power of the blade techniques to the very limit. Not only was he clashing head-on with the Third Boss, but he even held a slight edge, suppressing his opponent completely.
"Haa!"
At this moment, the Third Boss—who was being suppressed by Su Chen to the point of being utterly unable to parry—let out an explosive shout, as if trying to vent all the frustration in his heart. Gripping his long blade with both hands, he condensed his entire body’s strength onto the blade’s body. As his figure flickered, he found an opening and slashed down fiercely.
It flashed by like an afterimage, followed immediately by an ear-piercing shriek of tearing air.
SCREECH!
An ear-piercing sound, like a block of iron rapidly scraping against porcelain, seemed to vibrate in everyone’s ears thousands of times. Yet it had rung out so abruptly in a single instant, making their eardrums tremble.
The sound made Fang Rou shudder. She instinctively covered her ears, but her eyes remained fixed on the two men. The chaotic battlefield on the other side was also startled by this deafening noise. The combatants stopped fighting one after another and turned to look.
The two figures stood tall at the front, unmoving for a long time as if locked in a stalemate. After a few breaths, the crowd faintly heard a CRACK ring out. Then, they saw that the blades in both Su Chen and the Third Boss’s hands had snapped in half and fallen to the ground.
The moment their dual blades shattered, the two men each took a step back, staring at each other across the distance. The air was permeated with the faint, metallic scent of battle.
"You are very strong. But without that blade in your hand, you are simply no match for me," the Third Boss said sternly. Before his voice even faded, he forcefully hurled his broken blade, plunging it directly into the ground as he glared at Su Chen.
Su Chen remained silent.
At this moment, Yan Que called out from behind to warn him, "Brother, be careful! He is a Power Training Martial Artist!"
Hearing this, not only did Su Chen’s face show no sign of fear, but he instead revealed an eager posture, itching to try. "Let me see just how formidable a so-called Power Training Martial Artist really is!" he thought to himself, a thick fighting intent blooming in his eyes. He then backhanded the broken steel blade into his waistband.
Seeing this scene, Yan Que’s expression changed slightly. He clearly hadn’t expected that right after he warned Su Chen, Su Chen would abandon using a blade altogether.
"Heh, you’re courting death!"
The Third Boss’s gaze also shifted slightly, but a ruthless expression gradually surfaced on his face. He stomped his foot down fiercely, seemingly making the ground tremble, and then his figure shot forward violently.
Seeing this, Su Chen’s pupils slightly contracted. With steps as agile as blooming lotuses, he advanced to meet the attack.
