Chapter 397: Chapter 334: He’s Spinning

But then, Gray had an idea.

He steeled himself, let out a furious roar, and charged toward the swarm of venomous snakes!

The venomous snakes had received Medusa’s command and were preparing to attack the Mage and the Ranger.

But they never expected that from within the human Adventurer Squad, a madly spinning warrior would come charging out.

It was Gray!

Gray completely abandoned the footwork and precision emphasized by Wind Stream Swordsmanship, simply wielding his Wind Steel Sword and starting to spin.

And he spun round and round, circling Zelir and Valles.

The constantly swinging blade formed a deadly windmill around him, its destructive power amplified by his Wind Fighting Qi.

For a moment, the venomous snakes were all stunned, not daring to make a rash move.

But if they wouldn’t come to Gray, Gray would go to them!

And so, still spinning, Gray charged into the swarm of venomous snakes.

Instantly.

"SQUELCH! SQUELCH...!"

Like a cleaver through meat, numerous venomous snakes were sent flying!

Snake blood and multicolored venom splattered in every direction, like burst water balloons.

Moreover, the angle of the spinning Wind Steel Sword bobbed up and down, making it difficult to predict.

"Whoa...!"

Marcus couldn’t help but gasp in amazement at the sight.

’As expected. On a chaotic battlefield, focusing on elegant, one-on-one swordsmanship is just a liability.’

’The best method is to just swing your blade around and keep the enemy from getting close!’

Soon, Marcus followed suit. Imitating Gray, he closed his eyes and began to spin.

His sword and shield spinning in unison, he was like a steel fortress, charging straight into the densest part of the snake swarm.

For a moment, the scene on the battlefield was utterly absurd.

Zelir, Valles, and Hill were busy destroying the Mirror Stones, while Marcus and Gray spun relentlessly like tops, slaughtering the venomous snakes.

Even Medusa herself probably hadn’t expected this turn of events.

"Damn it!"

Zelir ducked just in time, dodging the Vortex Slash from the Wind Steel Sword.

The Wind Fighting Qi imbued in the blade scraped his cheek, making it sting.

’I don’t know if Gray’s gotten dizzy,’ Zelir thought. ’His footing has slipped a few times, and he came charging right at me.’

’He almost took my head off.’

"Hss—!"

A piercing pain suddenly shot up from his calf. Gray, still spinning wildly, stumbled and nearly fell.

He cracked his eyes open to look down.

’As expected...’

’One of them slipped through!’

A cunning snake had slithered low to the ground, dodging Gray’s wide, sweeping storm of blades, then viciously sank its fangs into him.

"Die!"

With a swift chop, Gray lopped off the snake’s head.

He immediately tore off a strip of cloth and tied it tightly above the wound to slow the venom’s spread.

Then, he pulled an Antidote Potion from his pouch and chugged it down. GLUG, GLUG.

’This was the item he’d had Zelir buy from the Mage’s Guild.’

’The Antidote Potion was a universal remedy.’

’While it couldn’t guarantee resistance against every toxin, it could at least temporarily suppress the effects and buy precious time for subsequent treatment.’

’Zelir’s demolition work is at a critical stage right now; I can’t let him get distracted by healing me.’

"BANG! BANG! BANG!!!"

Three more Arcane Missiles shot out in succession, blasting apart the final stone pillar embedded with a Mirror Stone.

The pillar crashed to the ground. With all the towering obstacles cleared, their line of sight was now wide and unobstructed.

Now, the tallest objects left in the hall were broken pedestals just over a meter high. Rubble was piled high on the ground, burying most of the Mirror Stones.

Now, when they looked around, they no longer had to worry about seeing Medusa’s eyes on a reflective surface.

Medusa’s hiding place was finally revealed.

Zelir didn’t look directly into her eyes, only sweeping his gaze over her with his peripheral vision.

She was coiled in the shadows of the stone gate at the hall’s entrance.

At this moment, this queen of serpents finally lost the composure and elegance of a predator.

Medusa had severely underestimated the strength of this Adventurer Squad.

She had never expected these people to be so destructive, nor that the party would happen to include a Mage who knew a Dispel Skill!

’She’d thought she could use the element of surprise to quickly petrify one or two of them, shatter the party’s morale, and then achieve a total wipe.’

But she had miscalculated.

Fury was written all over Medusa’s incomparably beautiful face. She opened her mouth wide.

Her beautiful features were instantly ruined. The corners of her mouth split open to her ears, revealing terrifyingly sharp teeth, like the slit-mouthed woman of legend.

Hill was still trying to figure out how to get behind the human-torsoed, snake-tailed monster for an assassination. She began to quietly shift toward the nearby shadows.

Suddenly, a piercing shriek rang out.

"AHHHH!!!!"

The shriek, filled with malice and resentment, pierced directly into everyone’s Spirit, taking effect deep within their minds!

Medusa controlled the members of the Adventurer Squad, forcing them into a fatal action.

Lift your heads, and look directly at me!

This method of mental attack was extremely powerful; even Zelir found it difficult to resist.

But before the compulsion forced his head up, Zelir had already anticipated Medusa’s move.

The Spell Structure for a magic technique was quietly completed.

Purification Aura!

"HUMMM...!"

A vast, circular field expanded to cover the entire squad, rippling outward like water as a holy white light enveloped them!

At that exact moment, all five of them were forced to look at Medusa.

Medusa’s eyes were unnaturally mesmerizing, as if lotuses were blooming within their depths.

Within them, countless motes of light spun and reformed at high speed, constantly shifting into bizarre patterns.

The instant their eyes met, petrification began to creep up from the soles of their feet.

But just as the petrification began, the white light of the Purification Aura also took effect.

As long as it was supplied with sufficient Magic Power, this Level Five spell from the Empowerment Magic System would ensure that everyone it covered remained in a normal state, untouched by negative effects!

The petrification spread up from their feet, even as it was being purged and driven back.

And so, a bizarre scene unfolded on the battlefield.

On the legs of the five squad members, the greyish-white stone and their normal flesh were locked in a fierce, back-and-forth struggle!

Medusa’s eyes widened as she tried to increase the power of her petrifying gaze.

It was an arduous tug-of-war. Standing at the center of the aura, Zelir could only hold his Night Peace Staff high, frantically channeling Magic Power to hold his ground.

Bolstered by the Purification Aura, Hill was the first to break free from the mental control.

Her willpower was incredibly tenacious and her actions were decisive. Raising her hand, she flung out several Hidden Weapons that glinted with cold light.

They carved intersecting silver paths through the air as they flew toward their target!

Straight for Medusa’s eyes!

WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!

The thrown Flying Sabers and armor-piercing spikes pierced one of Medusa’s eyes, and a thick, viscous ichor sprayed out.

Medusa clutched her face and howled in pain, forced to break off her mass petrification spell.

The terrifying pressure on Zelir finally vanished, and he was released from the tug-of-war of maintaining the Purification Aura.

"Hah... hah..."

Without pausing to rest, Zelir immediately began sketching a new Spell Structure with great speed.

A ruthless look surfaced deep in his eyes.

The tip of the Night Peace Staff flashed with white light, and simultaneously, that same ball of light instantly appeared on Medusa, giving her no chance to dodge.

Instant Flash Ball!

With his Intelligence Attribute now much higher than before, Zelir no longer needed the boost from Spring Resonance to cast Instant Flash Ball.

This was the strongest Attack Magic he currently had in his arsenal!

The ball of light blossomed from Medusa’s chest, its spreading halo quickly enveloping her entire upper body.

Then, driven by the exquisitely complex, multi-layered Spell Structure, a vast amount of Magic Power erupted in an instant.

A chain reaction caused by two colliding Rune Circuits further amplified the spell’s power!

The ball of light unleashed its power all at once, holding nothing back!

"KRA-KOOM!!!"

A deafening, piercing blast thundered through the hall.

The ball of light easily tore through Medusa’s flesh, its terrifying destructive power sending her blood, skin, and even bone flying in all directions!

Medusa didn’t even have time to assume a defensive stance.

Her entire upper body was gone. Now, only her giant snake tail remained, twitching spasmodically.

But after a few more twitches, it lost all strength and gradually fell still.

An instant kill!
