Chapter 394: Chapter 333: Medusa

"Of course, they can be sold. Plenty of Mages have dedicated themselves to the field of crafting Magic Equipment."

Zelir said.

"They can remove the Curse from the equipment... it’s just that the buyback price will be a bit lower."

"We can still make a lot of money from that," Gray said cheerfully.

This well-crafted set of Knight Plate Armor alone was a quality haul worth hundreds of Gold Coins.

Add in the Witch Demon’s Magic Robe and Magic Wand, and even if they were sold at a discount, it was still a fortune.

This fight was well worth it.

Zelir placed the pieces of Armor into his Storage Pouch one by one. The space inside became cramped again, and it would need to be reorganized.

As he mentally played his own little inventory management game inside the Storage Pouch, he also reflected on the battle that had just occurred.

The Magic the Witch Demon cast had a powerful, negative corrosive effect.

Marcus’s Defense Power was greatly diminished, and even Hill’s speed was affected.

’My Dispel Skill can purify this effect...’

’But it has a weakness: it has to be cast at close range.’

It was the same for the Healing Skill.

For the current Zelir, these types of Magic that helped teammates by dispelling negative statuses or healing injuries all had range limitations.

This was because they required the Caster to establish a stable channel of Magic Power with the target.

Through this channel, Magic Power would be continuously supplied to improve and adjust the target’s internal condition.

However, Empowerment Magic that provided short-term ability boosts, like Gift of Barbaric Strength, Swift Blessing, and Indestructible Body, could be cast from a distance.

They didn’t require a stable Magic Power channel and could be cast in a single action.

Zelir couldn’t help but recall how Instructor Manlin cast her spells.

Instructor Manlin didn’t seem to be bound by such range limitations.

Back when the party members were affected by the Cystic Poison Frogs, she had been able to cast Dispel Skill and Healing Skill directly from a distance, without needing to get close.

’Is it a difference in Casting Technique...?’

Zelir couldn’t help but ponder.

’Is it like the Trigger Skill, something that requires constant practice to master?’

’When I have time, I should look for some books on the subject.’

Being able to cast Dispel Skill and Healing Skill on teammates from a distance during a battle was extremely important.

After all the spoils of war were neatly arranged, Gray found his Cloud Steel Sword by the side of the circular, sand-covered arena.

"Whoa... The Blacksmith Shop owner really wasn’t lying. The quality is amazing."

Gray happily wiped the grime off his Cloud Steel Sword.

He flicked the blade, and the sound was still pleasing to the ear.

Other than some of the cowhide wrapped around the hilt for grip being destroyed in the explosion, the rest of it was undamaged.

It was still straight and sharp, perfectly usable.

After all, it had cost him seventy Gold Coins. If it had been destroyed by the Corpse Explosion Skill just like that, Gray would have been devastated.

After cleaning up the battlefield, the party headed toward the passage where the Decaying Knight and the Witch Demon had emerged.

The iron gate had been somewhat warped by the shockwaves from the battle.

Behind the gate was a long, narrow, pitch-black corridor filled with a cold, gloomy aura. At the end of it was a room.

Its interior was in stark contrast to the magnificent arena outside.

This place was exceptionally crude, one might even call it squalid.

The walls on both sides were made of rough-hewn stone and covered in bluish-black mold spots. The only light source came from the Fluorite embedded in the walls.

The entire room had a very cold, hard style, with no comfort to speak of.

Weapon racks were placed along the side, but most of the swords and blades on them had rotted beyond recognition.

"Is this where the gladiators used to rest?"

Looking at the oppressive environment, Valles couldn’t help but ask in a low voice.

"Probably..." Marcus shook his head.

Zelir couldn’t help but picture the scene.

Back when this civilization still existed, in this dark and damp corridor, gladiators—their bodies bulging with muscle and covered in scars—would have gripped their weapons tightly.

They would either be whispering prayers for themselves or standing in complete silence.

All of them waiting for the iron gate to slowly rise.

Then, the deafening roar of the crowd from outside, along with the snarls of wild beasts, would rush in all at once.

Everyone would be anticipating a spectacular, bloody battle in the circular arena.

’I wonder what the gladiators must have felt in those moments... ’

"Should we rest here for a bit?" Marcus said.

Everyone nodded in agreement.

They were all still somewhat tired after the recent battle.

With Valles, who was in the best condition, taking on guard duty, the others could finally relax.

Zelir found a spot that resembled a bed and took a short nap.

For a Mage, there was no better way to recover energy than sleeping.

After waking up in a daze, Zelir stared blankly at the dark ceiling for a moment.

A small notification unexpectedly popped into his field of vision.

Spirit: 196 -> 197

Intelligence: 177 -> 178

Oh...?

Zelir was a little surprised.

He hadn’t expected that even a short nap could trigger the boosting effect of Heart Sleep.

"You’re awake?"

Gray handed him some dried meat and water. "Want some?"

Zelir took them and stuffed them into his mouth, chewing absentmindedly.

In the previous battle, he had used three Dispel Skills, plus Vine Entanglement, Aurora Energy Beam, Fractal Fire, and various other spells.

All of that had consumed about half of his Mana.

The short sleep had restored a small amount of his Magic Power.

Once they had finished resting, the party left the backstage area of the arena.

From this point on, the buildings started to become sparse.

The tall, magnificent, palace-like buildings with their ornately carved beams and painted rafters disappeared.
