My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 445: The Crisis Of The Kingdom Of Britannia [Part 2]

Daedalus liked to kick its enemies while they were down.

This was especially true for the two generals since a longer delay would allow its Master's great-grandfather, Lugh, to further devastate the Kingdom of Britannia's northern regions.

Leone had also asked his Great Grandpa to pull some strings, hooking the Barbarian King and the Beast King into this chaotic brawl.

He was simply fishing in troubled waters. If the Kingdom of Britannia wanted to drag Leone into a war, he would make sure that Britannia would be dragged into an even bigger one.

Some people liked to kill three birds with one stone.

But Leone was different.

He preferred to kill one bird with three stones.

And the more stones he had, the better!

Since the grimoire didn't want to wake up its sleeping Master, who was nestled in the arms of the two beautiful ladies by his side, he decided to ask Blitz, Otto, Astravor, and Lord Azar to accompany him to mess with the two generals who had fallen into the deep gorge.

Daedalus believed that the two were mostly unharmed since they had life-saving artifacts on them.

However, the same couldn't be said for their men.

These dozens of elite soldiers might have survived the fall, but they certainly wouldn't be able to climb back so easily!

Mustering their fastest speeds, Astravor and Lord Azar streaked across the sky, while Blitz went ahead to scout the situation.

Once the flying squirrel landed on the opposite side of the gorge, it looked down at the abyss.

Using its dark vision, Blitz was able to see what was happening.

The two generals were standing on the shells that Duran had used earlier in the battle against the Aslan Tribe.

Twelve shells were deployed, which he used to raise the fallen soldiers from the ground.

Although they were in a hurry, these men had fought alongside them for years. The two couldn't bear to leave them behind. At least, they had to make sure that they were safe.

Seeing that the two generals were unharmed, Blitz picked up a small pebble beside it and then tossed it at Duran's head.

The pebble bounced on the general's head, making him look up.

'Must be the wind,' Duran thought before returning his attention to his life-saving efforts.

Blitz, who had thrown down the pebble, looked at its paw as if it had been enlightened.

Now it understood why Astravor liked to throw stones on Boris' head.

Throwing things felt good!

However, the flying squirrel didn't dare to do it a second time.

Instead, it decided to wait until reinforcements arrived. And when they did, they all took action.

Lord Astravor, who specialized in Earth Magic, started manifesting giant boulders and dropping them on the gorge.

As for Astravor? He created powerful gusts of wind and aimed them downward, causing chaos for the soldiers who were trapped in the gorge.

"Damn it!" Duran cursed loudly, while Vogel started to fire arrows to shatter the boulders above their heads.

"Leave us, General!" one of the soldiers pleaded. "Save yourself!"

Duran gritted his teeth and decided to raise the shells upwards.

If he wanted to give his men a chance to live, he had to deal with the threat above their heads first!

The moment the two generals rose from the gorge, Vogel unleashed a barrage of arrows that split into hundreds of arrows of light.

However, Astravor and Lord Azar weren't fazed by these attacks.

They simply deflected them using Wind Magic and Earth Magic.

The elite soldiers, who had also been saved by the shells, assisted their generals in facing off against the two enemies from the sky.

Since Duran couldn't afford to hold back, all twelve shells under his command moved to intercept any attacks coming from their enemies while Vogel focused on offense.

They had no time to deal with this right now, but their foes seemed to be hell-bent on pinning them down.

Left with no choice, they had to do what they had to do and fought back until the main army caught up with them.

Soon, magical spells flew towards the sky as the mages unleashed their bombardment.

Realizing that time was up, Astravor and Lord Azar finally pulled back… or so the Britannians thought.

High above the sky, Otto started to snipe the mages on the ground. He planned to thin out their numbers as much as possible.

But after successfully killing three of them, magical shields rose in response as Vogel shifted his focus toward him.

"Let's go back, Otto," Astravor warned. "Don't piss them off so much that they decide to go all out and advance into the Borderlands instead of retreating."

If that really happened, then they would really destroy Leone's carefully laid-out plan and make his mission fail.

Otto understood that he couldn't go against the wishes of his Great Chieftain, so he stopped and followed Astravor and Lord Azar as they returned to where their main force was stationed.

Now that the fighting had stopped, Duran and Vogel ordered the Earth Mages to create a stone bridge.

Duran also asked the Wind Mages to help save the soldiers that had fallen into the gorge.

At this point, the two generals understood that they could no longer stay, so they took new horses to resume their journey towards Stoneguard Fortress.

Both were seething with anger, but they had nothing to vent it on.

When they finally reached the fortress, they didn't hesitate to tell Armand to open his personal teleportation gate so that they could teleport directly back to the capital city of Britannia.

Both understood that teleporting directly to their respective domains was no longer an option.

Instead, they had to join hands with the Blue Dragon General and the White Tiger General in order to repel the invaders that had invaded their kingdom.

That was the only way that they could overcome this crisis that no one saw coming.

While all this was happening, the King of Britannia was complaining to the King of the Radiant Empire, demanding an explanation alongside reparations.

Caught completely by surprise by the Helion Family's offensive, the King of the Radiant Empire promised to get to the bottom of this.

He immediately called the Helion Family using his personal communication crystal.

However, no matter how many times he tried, no one answered from the other side.

Knowing that the Helion Family might be doing this on purpose, the King sent a personal messenger to the southern lands of his domain through the teleportation gates.

His goal was to force Lugh and his army to stand down.

But when the messenger arrived at the Helion Family estate, they found out that all the men of the Helion Family had left for the war, so no one was there to meet him and his envoy.

He then implored the ladies of the family to call their husbands and relay the King's orders.

However, they said their husbands didn't bring their communication crystals with them, so they had no way of contacting them at the moment.

Left with no choice, the messenger and his guards decided to travel directly to the Kingdom of Britannia and inform Lugh of the King's orders personally.

Unfortunately for him, Lugh, Andreas, and the rest of the upper echelons of the Helion Family were riding on Dragons and Wyverns.

They had already advanced deep into the kingdom's lands, making it impossible for a mere messenger to catch up to them in a few hours.

At most, it would take him two to three days of travel before getting the possibility of meeting Lugh or Andreas.

But by that time, the Helion Family, the Barbarians, and the Beastmen would have already eaten a large chunk of the Kingdom of Britannia, which would make King Augustus curse their whole families up to their ninth generation.
