Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Purple Eaglet

"Heh heh, that won’t do! I only believe in absolute control. Rest assured, as long as you serve me faithfully, the Heart-devouring Gu will not harm you. And if you manage to earn my trust, I might even remove it for you one day, if I’m in a good mood." A slight smile played on Ye Xing’s lips as he placed the two Heart-devouring Gu into the palms of Ma Feng and Niu Dequan.

The Heart-devouring Gu was a small, dark green insect covered in sharp spines. It immediately pierced the palms of Ma Feng and Niu Dequan, and a trickle of crimson blood oozed out. The two Heart-devouring Gu entered their blood vessels, traveled up their arms, and settled into their hearts.

After Ma Feng and Niu Dequan’s faces twisted in agony, the Heart-devouring Gu formally took up residence in their hearts, taking control of their lives.

"Alright, Xue Yong, Hong Hai, help the two Guardians go rest." Ye Xing’s gaze shifted. "By the way, once you’ve recovered, roughly how long will it take to bring the Great River Gang completely under our control?"

"You Bin is dead; the others are no cause for concern." Ma Feng, the Left Guardian of the Great River Gang, mused for a moment, then said, "Niu Dequan and I are second only to the Gang Leader in status. Xue Yong and Hong Hai are also two of the few Squad Leaders in the gang, and we all have our own trusted followers. With the four of us making a move, we can basically seize control of the entire Great River Gang on the same day. After some minor consolidation, it will take three days at most to secure the Great River Gang firmly in our grasp."

"Excellent. I have two vials of Upper-grade Golden Wound Medicine here. This should help you two Guardians recover from your injuries as quickly as possible!" With a glint in his eye, Ye Xing took out two vials of Golden Wound Medicine and handed them to Ma Feng and Niu Dequan.

"Upper-grade Golden Wound Medicine? Thank you, Master!" A hint of joy flashed in Ma Feng and Niu Dequan’s eyes. Upper-grade Golden Wound Medicine was extremely effective, but also incredibly expensive. Even among Martial Artists, only those with significant backing and wealth could afford it. People at their level typically only used Mid-grade Golden Wound Medicine for their injuries.

The two men joyfully accepted the Golden Wound Medicine from Ye Xing. Then, with the support of Xue Yong and Hong Hai, they returned to their guest rooms to rest.

...

Night fell, the moon like a silver platter surrounded by a smattering of stars. Starlight and moonlight spilled down.

The Ye Mansion on White Cloud Mountain was serene.

Four Golden Tigers stood guard at various points around the mansion, ensuring its security. The Gale Leopard watched over the area near Ye Xing’s Training Room, preventing anyone from approaching.

Aunt Qiao had already gone to bed, but that girl Qiao’Er was still in the living room watching TV. In the west wing guest rooms, Ma Feng and Niu Dequan were recovering from their injuries while discussing with Hong Hai and Xue Yong how to take control of the Great River Gang.

Inside the Training Room cave, next to the Purple Light Group.

Ye Xing was hatching the purple Demon Beast Egg. He held it in his right hand, continuously pouring a stream of True Qi into it. In his left hand, he held a Great Returning Pill, ready to replenish his True Qi at a moment’s notice.

’This purple Demon Beast Egg is quite the surprise. I didn’t expect its bloodline concentration to be so high. I have to hatch it today, no matter what,’ Ye Xing thought to himself. Usually, the higher a Demon Beast’s bloodline level, the more True Qi was needed to hatch it.

Including the hour-plus from the afternoon, Ye Xing had now been incubating the purple Demon Beast Egg for almost two hours.

Time ticked by, and in the blink of an eye, another hour had passed.

After absorbing a massive amount of True Qi, the purple Demon Beast Egg in front of him finally started to change.

Streamlight flashed across the Demon Beast Egg’s surface. The ancient purple patterns on the shell became increasingly distinct, and it began to emit a faint life fluctuation.

The entire Demon Beast Egg glowed with purple light, and after another moment,

KRA! KRAK KRAK KRAK!

Cracks started to appear on the eggshell’s surface. They spread and widened, and within moments, the entire Demon Beast Egg was covered in a dense network of fissures.

Following that, an aura of life emanated from within the Demon Beast Egg. One could faintly sense a small life awakening inside.

THUMP! THUMP THUMP THUMP!

A moment later, the entire Demon Beast Egg began to shake violently as the sound of tapping came from inside the shell.

THUMP THUMP! THUMP THUMP THUMP!

The tapping grew louder, the cracks on the shell widened, and then a small, sharp beak broke through and poked out from the Demon Beast Egg.

"Haha, it really is a Flying Demon Beast!" Ye Xing couldn’t help but feel overjoyed. Flying Demon Beasts generally had higher ranks and were more expensive than terrestrial beasts. Moreover, having a Flying Demon Beast as a companion was extremely convenient, whether for escaping or giving chase.

THUMP THUMP THUMP!

The small beak pecked continuously at the shell, creating one small hole after another. Soon, the eggshell cracked in two, and a tiny purple eagle appeared in Ye Xing’s palm. The purple eaglet was only palm-sized, exceptionally beautiful and adorable. Its feathers were a pale purple, and a small tuft of shimmering, light-golden down on its forehead gave it an incredibly noble air.

CHIRP CHIRP! CHIRP CHIRP!

The purple eaglet’s cries were crisp and young. It chirped at Ye Xing twice before starting to eat the eggshell beneath its feet. Its tiny beak rapidly shattered the hard shell, and it devoured the pieces.

As it continued to eat the shell, the purple eaglet’s feathers became even more lustrous, and its aura steadily grew stronger.

"Haha, what an adorable little fella!" Ye Xing gazed at the purple eaglet, his heart swelling with affection. He had hatched this little creature with his own hands, and it had even absorbed a drop of his blood. An incredibly intimate bond, like that of family, had already been forged between them.

The little fella ate the eggshell incredibly fast. In just a short while, it had finished all of it.

CHIRP CHIRP! CHIRP CHIRP!

After finishing the eggshell, the purple eaglet began flapping its wings and flying around the cave. Its flight was unstable at first; it wobbled about as if it were drunk, an amusing sight to behold. However, after just one lap, its flight stabilized rapidly, leaving Ye Xing utterly amazed.

Normally, newborn birds have soft wings and are incapable of flight. Even among Demon Beasts, it usually took several days of growth to learn. And yet, this purple eaglet could fly the moment it was born—something no ordinary bird could possibly do.

The purple eaglet joyfully flew all around, exploring this new and exciting world. Ye Xing let it be and simply sat down cross-legged to begin his Cultivation.

Time passed bit by bit. Once the purple eaglet grew tired, it landed on Ye Xing’s shoulder. Its little eyes darted about, curiously sizing up its surroundings before it began to preen its feathers.

After cultivating for six or seven hours, Ye Xing opened his eyes from his meditation. A glance at his watch told him it was already seven in the morning. He left the Training Room cave and entrusted the purple eaglet to Qiao’Er for safekeeping. Since the eaglet had just been born, Ye Xing didn’t plan on bringing it to Earth just yet.

Ye Xing returned to the cave and went through the Purple Light Group Teleportation Gate, arriving inside the old well at his ancestral home on Earth.

The moment he appeared in the well, his phone began to buzz incessantly. He had a long list of missed calls and unread messages, several of which were from Zhu Dazhuang.

’Could it be... that Dazhuang has already caught the thief?’ Ye Xing wondered. He immediately swiped his phone’s screen and opened one of the messages.
