Chapter 126: Teaching Tuoba Quan a Lesson
Chapter 126: Chapter 126: Teaching Tuoba Quan a Lesson
Ye Xing watched with a smile, completely ignoring Tuoba Quan’s words.
That Tuoba Quan only knew how to spend his days in amusement. His Martial Arts had only just reached the Martial Arts Second Realm, a cultivation level even lower than Ye Xing’s, who was a latecomer to the path. Before long, Xue Yong and Hong Hai had him restrained and began slapping him forcefully across the face.
SLAP! SLAP-SLAP-SLAP!
Xue Yong was incredibly strong. He delivered one slap after another to Tuoba Quan’s face. While doing so, he would occasionally shout, "So satisfying!" before continuing the assault. After just five or six slaps, Tuoba Quan’s face had become red and swollen, and he was howling miserably.
"Haha, you’re an interesting one. One moment, your tone made it sound like you were about to treat him as an honored guest, and the next, you’re having him slapped. The change was so fast, I almost couldn’t keep up," Sikong Xingxing chuckled.
"Treat him as an honored guest? Heh, do you think that’s possible?" Ye Xing scoffed. "That guy is a classic bully who preys on the weak and fears the strong. How could I not teach him a lesson?"
SLAP! SLAP-SLAP-SLAP!
Each slap landed harder than the one before. The richly-dressed young man, Tuoba Quan, soon had both cheeks swollen high and red. Since Ye Xing hadn’t told them to stop, Xue Yong and Hong Hai’s slaps never ceased. They seemed to be having a wonderful time.
"My lord, the Tuoba Clan’s influence in Sunset City is quite significant. The Tuoba Clan’s Patriarch, Tuoba Lie, is a Martial Arts Ninth Layer expert," Ma Feng hesitated before reminding him. "If we keep beating his grandson like this, won’t it—"
"It’s fine. Tuoba Quan’s character is rotten. I’m just disciplining him on his grandfather’s behalf to make sure he remembers this lesson," Ye Xing said with a smile.
The Tuoba Clan did indeed wield considerable power in Sunset City and was considered one of its major forces. In Ye Xing’s eyes, however, only Tuoba Lie, at the Martial Arts Ninth Layer, posed any sort of threat. The others were insignificant, and Tuoba Quan was less than a nobody. Although Tuoba Lie had a Martial Arts Ninth Layer cultivation, he had achieved his breakthrough late in life, only advancing from the Martial Arts Eighth Layer to the Martial Arts Ninth Layer in his old age.
It was important to know that even those at the Martial Arts Ninth Layer varied in strength. The most powerful could be ranked on the Tang Country’s Wind and Cloud List, their might truly immense. They could trade several blows with an Innate Realm expert and would have little trouble escaping with their lives. Below them were the ordinary Martial Arts Ninth Layer cultivators, who were still quite formidable. The weakest of all were the Martial Artists who had barely managed to cross into the Martial Arts Ninth Layer, and Tuoba Lie fell into this last category. Therefore, even if Tuoba Lie were to come after him, Ye Xing had nothing to fear. Aided by the Gale Leopard’s speed, there was little Tuoba Lie could do to him. In fact, it was hard to say who would truly come out worse for wear.
SLAP-SLAP! SLAP—SLAP—SLAP!
Over there, Xue Yong and Hong Hai had quickly slapped Tuoba Quan until his face was swollen like a pig’s head. His cheeks were a mess of red, purple, and blue, and his eyes were so puffy they were nearly squeezed into thin slits.
"Alright, that’s enough. Xue Yong, Hong Hai, stop!" Ye Xing ordered. ’Tuoba Quan just needed to be taught a lesson. If I actually killed him, I’d make a true enemy of the Tuoba Clan. I don’t want to stir up any more trouble for now.’
"You... you dare hi’ me... You’re dead! My gwandpa won’t let you off fo’ thish," Tuoba Quan slurred, two of his front teeth having been knocked out. His words came out in an airy whistle as he stared hatefully at Ye Xing.
"Heh, your grandpa is welcome to come find me anytime!" Ye Xing’s eyes narrowed slightly as he smiled. "Are you not getting out of here? Or are you hoping for another two hundred slaps?"
Tuoba Quan shuddered in fright. Clutching his swollen cheeks, he and the old man scrambled and crawled out of the Ye Mansion as if their lives depended on it. The dancers in the hall also hurried to follow them out; some were merely dancers, while others were concubines favored by Tuoba Quan.
As Tuoba Quan’s group departed from the Ye Mansion, Ye Xing’s gaze shifted. He noticed that at some point, a money pouch had appeared in Sikong Xingxing’s hands. He was currently counting the gold tickets inside, one by one.
"One, two, three, four... Holy shit! There are gold tickets in here worth eight hundred Gold Coins!" Sikong Xingxing grinned from ear to ear.
"Are those gold tickets from your own money pouch?" Ye Xing couldn’t help but ask, a doubtful look on his face. ’It certainly doesn’t seem like it.’
"Hehe, maybe it wasn’t before, but it is now. I just helped myself to the money pouch on Tuoba Quan," Sikong Xingxing said smugly, shaking the pouch in his hand. "What can I say? It’s an occupational hazard. I couldn’t resist."
"Uh, you’re a thief?"
"Yup. You’re just figuring that out now? I’m destined to become the greatest divine thief in the world, even more famous than the old master thief," Sikong Xingxing said. "Now that the show’s over, I should get going. By the way, we really hit it off last night, so you can have this Jade Buddha Statue."
The Jade Buddha Statue was a pure, snowy white, carved from a single piece of White Jade, and was incredibly expensive.
"Uh, don’t tell me this was stolen too."
"Of course. I swiped this from a Prince’s Mansion in the Golden Scale Imperial City," Sikong Xingxing chuckled. "So, you want it or not?"
"Forget it. I don’t want to get caught up in that kind of trouble," Ye Xing said. "You stole from a Prince’s Mansion. Aren’t you worried the Six Gates will come after you?"
"Pfft. It’s free, you’d be a fool not to take it. That Prince is a total scumbag—if I’m not stealing from him, who should I steal from? And I’m not afraid of the Six Gates," Sikong Xingxing said with a dismissive pout. "Anyway, I’m leaving."
"Wait. Leave the Jade Buddha Statue."
"Huh? Didn’t you just say you didn’t want it?" Sikong Xingxing rolled his eyes.
"I’ve suddenly realized you’re absolutely right. It would be a waste not to take something for free," Ye Xing said with a grin. "By the way, I have something for you too." With that, Ye Xing took an MP3 player from his pocket and handed it to Sikong Xingxing.
"Er, what is this thing?"
"It’s an MP3 player. It’s for listening to music," Ye Xing said. "Here, let me show you how to use it." Ye Xing then began to teach Sikong Xingxing how to operate it.
"It can really play music! This is amazing! I’ve seen many master artisans create all sorts of strange and wonderful things, but this device of yours feels much more incredible than any of theirs," Sikong Xingxing said, his face a mask of astonishment. He suddenly started humming along. "This tune is so unique, I love it! Ah-yi-ya-yi, ah-yi-ya-yi, de-ge-tai de-ge-tai de-ge-tai..."
Ye Xing’s face instantly contorted into an expression of pure awkwardness.
Not long after Sikong Xingxing left, Ye Xing summoned Qiao’Er, Aunt Qiao, Ma Feng, Xue Yong, and Hong Hai to the main hall.
"An Innate Spiritual Treasure is about to emerge, and a storm is brewing on White Cloud Mountain. Countless Martial Artists are gathering here, and our Ye Mansion is at the very center of it all," Ye Xing said in a solemn voice. "Here’s the plan: Ma Feng, you’ll take Qiao’Er, Aunt Qiao, Xue Yong, and Hong Hai with you. The five of you will return to Green River Town and stay there for a while. It’s best to lie low and avoid the coming storm."
