My Home's Ancient Well Connects to the Martial Arts World
Chapter 114: Returning
Chapter 114: Chapter 114: Returning
"A Porsche 911? Holy crap, that’s a luxury sports car! I’ve seen it on TV. It’s gorgeous!"
"A Porsche 911 has to be at least two million, right? You can’t afford a luxury car like that unless you’re worth over ten million."
"Security, that Porsche 911 definitely doesn’t belong to any of us. You’re in the wrong room!"
"Oh, sorry to bother you, everyone! I’ll go ask the other private rooms!" The Longwan Grand Restaurant security guard immediately turned to leave.
Just then—
"Security, wait! That’s my car. Here, take the keys and move it for me, please." A voice suddenly cut through the private room.
Everyone turned to look and saw Ye Xing pull a set of keys from his pocket and toss them to the Longwan Grand Restaurant security guard.
The guard caught the keys, glanced down at them, and said quickly, "Excellent. So the Porsche 911 belongs to you, sir. I’ll go move it right away. It’ll just be a moment!"
With that, the guard respectfully backed out of Private Room 206 and headed downstairs with Ye Xing’s keys to move the car.
In that moment, Private Room 206 fell utterly silent. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Every classmate in the room fixed their gaze on Ye Xing, their expressions a complex mix of doubt, shock, confusion, admiration, and fervent curiosity. After a moment of silence, someone finally broke it. "Ye Xing, you drive a Porsche 911?"
"Yeah," Ye Xing nodded.
"Holy crap, isn’t that car worth over two million?"
"The base model is over a million. With taxes and fees, it’s about two million total," Ye Xing said.
"You must have borrowed it. There’s no way you could afford a two-million-dollar Porsche. People who drive cars like that are worth tens of millions, but you’ve only got one million in your account. How could you possibly afford it?" Wei Junchao’s expression flickered.
"Oh, you mean this card?" Ye Xing said. "This one’s just for my daily living expenses. It’s true, there isn’t much in it."
The other classmates were dumbfounded. ’Living expenses? So that was just his pocket money! If he has a million for pocket money, how much does he have in actual savings?’
"My God, in that case, you must be worth over ten million! Making money that fast is terrifying."
"Ye Xing, how on earth did you make so much money?!"
"Worth tens of millions in just half a year... Xingzai, you didn’t win the lottery, did you?!"
"What lottery? I already told you guys, I’m a fishmonger," Ye Xing said.
"Immortal Flavor Old Fish?"
"That’s right. You still don’t believe me?"
"I believe you! I fucking believe you now!" Peng Youliang exclaimed.
"You’re loaded! Be my sponsor!"
"Ye Xing, my man! Forget everything else, can you treat us to an Immortal Flavor Old Fish? My mouth is watering like crazy!"
"Sure. I’ll make a call and have the restaurant send over another twenty or thirty of them. How about two each?"
"Awesome, my man!"
"We won’t be shy with a rich guy like you!"
"We love you, Ye, you big tycoon!"
...
The class reunion continued until a little after eight o’clock that evening.
At night, Fu City was a bustling metropolis. Neon lights flickered across countless skyscrapers as traffic flowed endlessly. Car horns blared, creating a symphony of urban prosperity.
Ye Xing drove his Porsche back to the Fuli Grand Hotel.
When he got back to his hotel room, he found little Erhei sitting on the sofa, watching cartoons.
"WOOF!" "WOOF!"
Seeing Ye Xing, little Erhei barked happily, hopped down from the sofa, and trotted over to greet him.
"Erhei, go change the channel to five. I want to watch the legal program," Ye Xing instructed.
"WOOF!"
Little Erhei gave a small nod and a single bark. It waddled on its short legs and hopped back onto the sofa. Its two furry paws took hold of the remote, and then it extended one to press the number ’5’ button.
The TV channel instantly switched to five.
A legal news program was playing on the television screen.
The program’s mission was to "focus on the rule of law in China, convey the people’s voice, strengthen legal oversight, and uphold fairness and justice." Set against the backdrop of "Operation Sunshine," a national campaign to root out corruption, the show was created to explore the broad progress of China’s legal system. Its content focused on major cases of official misconduct and other hot-button social issues. It was an authoritative and distinctive legal program that integrated both legal and public oversight. Broadcast schedule: Premieres daily at 13:00, with a rebroadcast at 21:00.
"This is a special report. There has been a new development in the food poisoning case from two years ago. Sun Mingsheng, the head of Mingsheng Group, has been taken in by police for his suspected involvement. The case is now under full investigation, and authorities believe it will be solved soon."
The affair with Sun Mingsheng was, of course, Ye Xing’s own doing. With that matter settled, he had no other business in Fu City. Since it was already late, he planned to head back to Bilin Village in Luoxian County the following morning.
It wasn’t yet nine o’clock. Ye Xing sat cross-legged on the bed, preparing to begin his Cultivation of the Innate Skill, when the phone in his pocket suddenly rang and vibrated.
BRRRING! "You’re my little, little apple..."
Ye Xing pulled out his phone. It was his cousin, Cheng Xiaohai. He swiped the screen and answered.
"Hey! Cousin Ye Xing, where are you right now?" his cousin Cheng Xiaohai’s clear voice asked over the phone.
"I’m in Fu City. What’s up, you little rascal?" Ye Xing chuckled.
"What are you doing all the way in Fu City?" Cheng Xiaohai complained. "What am I supposed to do now? There are still a couple of moves in the Longevity Fist that I don’t quite get, and I was counting on you to show me."
"I’m still in Fu City and probably won’t make it back tonight. If there’s something you don’t understand, you can ask Wu Qiang," Ye Xing said.
"I would have if I could, but the problem is, First Senior Brother doesn’t seem to get that move either," Cheng Xiaohai said.
"First Senior Brother? What First Senior Brother?" Ye Xing asked, confused. "Why are you calling Master Wu ’First Senior Brother’?"
"Well, he is. The three of us started at the same time, and we agreed to rank ourselves by age," Cheng Xiaohai said with a straight face. "Martial Arts Master Wu Qiang is the oldest, so naturally he’s First Senior Brother. Brother Dazhuang is next, so he’s Second Senior Brother. I’m the youngest, so of course I’m Third Junior Brother."
"..." Ye Xing was speechless. ’I guess that works too.’
"So, Cousin Ye Xing, when are you coming back already? The wait is killing me," Cheng Xiaohai said.
"I’ve already handled things here. I’ll head back tomorrow morning," Ye Xing said.
"Haha, awesome! I’ll come find you tomorrow morning, then," Cheng Xiaohai said happily. "Okay, I’m hanging up. I need to go practice the Longevity Fist again."
With that, they hung up.
「The next morning」
Ye Xing left Fu City in his Porsche, got on the highway, and headed toward Luoxian County.
(We’re about to enter the Martial Arts Continent, so I need to switch gears, write an outline, and lay some foreshadowing for the plot. For now, it’s just one Chapter today. There will be three more tomorrow!)
