Chapter 113: Chapter 113: Move the Car
"Withdraw my ass! Ye Xing, you’re so out of it! You didn’t even tell me the PIN, how am I supposed to withdraw anything?!" Zheng Yiming said over the phone, laughing and cursing.
As Zheng Yiming’s call came in, the other classmates in the private room all turned to stare at Ye Xing.
"Oh, haha, I almost forgot. The PIN is really simple. It’s 123456!" Ye Xing said with a laugh.
"Holy crap, 123456? Are you sure? That’s not just simple, that’s *stupidly* simple!" Zheng Yiming couldn’t help but roast him.
"It’s that simple. Now hurry up and get it. I’m hanging up." Ye Xing promptly ended the call.
He was about to go back to reading his novel when he suddenly noticed the atmosphere in the room felt a little off. All the other classmates were giving him strange looks.
Wei Junchao burst out laughing. "Hahaha, a PIN of 123456? That’s hilarious! With a PIN that careless, I bet there isn’t a hundred thousand yuan on that card. More like ten."
Ye Xing couldn’t be bothered to respond to Wei Junchao’s mockery. ’I’m getting to the good part of my novel; I don’t have time for this nonsense.’
Zheng Yiming was a Fu City native who knew its streets and alleys like the back of his hand. It didn’t take long—maybe fifteen or twenty minutes—before he burst back into the room in a flurry, carrying a large bag.
"Holy crap, Ye Xing, what the hell is going on? You’ve struck it rich! Holy crap, so many zeros! There are so many zeros in your account!" Zheng Yiming burst in, face flushed with excitement and covered in sweat. He handed the bag to Ye Xing. "One hundred thousand yuan! I withdrew one hundred thousand for you, all from your card. I’m not gonna stand on ceremony with a tycoon like you. I’ll just keep my fifty thousand for myself, heh heh."
Ye Xing took the bag and opened it for a look. Inside were stacks of big, red "Chairman Mao" bills. Each stack looked to be about ten thousand yuan thick, and there were ten stacks in total—one hundred thousand yuan. He then casually tossed the money bag in front of Wei Junchao.
"One hundred thousand yuan. Count it yourself, see if I’m wrong," Ye Xing said coolly.
The smug, mocking smile on Wei Junchao’s face had already frozen. Dubiously, he opened the bag, and his eyes were immediately met with stack after stack of big, red bills.
"This... Based on the number of stacks and their thickness, it really does look like a hundred thousand yuan..." Wei Junchao muttered.
"Junchao, even if the amount is right, we should check if it’s counterfeit!" his girlfriend, You Xiaoli, quickly reminded him.
"Right, they could be fake! I need to check." Wei Junchao quickly dumped all the bills out of the bag and began his inspection.
Stack after stack of big red bills, ten thick stacks of "Chairman Maos" in total, instantly drew the attention of every other classmate in the room. All eyes were glued to the ten thick stacks of cash on the table, their gazes burning with intensity.
A hundred thousand yuan! That was a hundred thousand yuan in cash!
For someone earning a monthly salary of three thousand yuan, after deducting rent, utilities, food, and other living expenses in a big city like Fu City, managing to save a thousand yuan a month was already quite impressive. It would take eight or nine years to save up a hundred thousand yuan.
"Zheng... Zheng Yiming, you said just now that Ye Xing’s account has a lot of zeros... exactly how many?" The dozen or so classmates were breathing heavily, their burning gazes all fixed on him at once.
"Uhh... well..." Zheng Yiming couldn’t help but glance at Ye Xing. Seeing that Ye Xing didn’t object, he blurted out, "A one followed by six zeros. One million!"
"Damn, what a tycoon!"
"Ye Xing, where did you get all this money?"
"I never would’ve guessed! Ye Xing, you’re loaded! Where did you make your fortune?"
"What do you mean, you never would’ve guessed? Ye Xing is a man of great talent. He was always smarter than the rest of us."
"By the way, Ye Xing, aren’t you working at a cultural company in Luoxian County? I think I heard you mention it was Red Phoenix Publishing Co., Ltd. last time. Is the pay there really that high? You’ve got to hook us up!"
The classmates all chimed in, their attitudes incredibly eager. Even Zheng Yiming couldn’t help but half-jokingly say to Ye Xing, "Tycoon, let’s be friends!"
"Sure," Ye Xing said. "But if we’re friends, we can’t be bros anymore."
"No way! Then let’s stick to being bros. Being bros feels closer. I’m gonna cling to this big shot’s leg and never let go," Zheng Yiming said with a sly laugh.
"Ye Xing, is the salary really that high for your job in Luoxian County?" another classmate couldn’t resist asking.
Ye Xing paused for a moment before replying, "I’m not working there anymore. I quit two or three months ago. Lately, I’ve been running a small business, and I guess you could say I’ve made a small fortune."
"Oh? What kind of business is so profitable?" the other classmates quickly pressed.
Just then, on the other side of the table, Wei Junchao and his girlfriend, You Xiaoli, had finished a rough inspection of the cash and found it was all real. They couldn’t help but prick up their ears and look over as well.
"I sell fish," Ye Xing said.
"What? You can make that much money selling fish?" a classmate asked doubtfully. "Your business must be huge, then!"
Another classmate chimed in, "What kind of fish do you sell, Ye Xing? Is it any good? I’ll have to come to Luoxian County to give you some business sometime!"
"Well, I think it’s pretty tasty. In fact, you all just had some—the Immortal Flavor Old Fish!" Ye Xing said.
The moment Ye Xing finished speaking.
GASP!
The entire private room fell silent.
"Heh, you’ve got to be kidding me. The supplier for Immortal Flavor Old Fish is worth tens of millions, and their value is still skyrocketing. You’ve only got a million in savings and you dare claim to be the supplier? You’re a real comedian," Wei Junchao sneered.
The other classmates also looked at Ye Xing with suspicion. After all, they agreed that the money from Immortal Flavor Old Fish seemed too good to be true. A single fish cost a thousand yuan; it was practically a terrifying money-printing machine. The supplier of the Immortal Flavor Old Fish had to be a major figure.
"Eh, believe it or not, it doesn’t matter. If you believe me, great. If you don’t, then just assume I was joking. I do sell fish, though," Ye Xing said with a smile.
The atmosphere in the room became lively again as everyone’s conversation shifted to revolve around Ye Xing, plying him with questions to get closer to him. While they couldn’t bring themselves to believe he was the supplier of Immortal Flavor Old Fish, the fact that he also sold fish and had earned a million was already incredible. He was no worse than Wei Junchao—in fact, he was better. Wei Junchao had relied on his father’s connections to get ahead. Ye Xing, on the other hand, had started from scratch on his own merits, which was far more impressive.
As the group in the private room was chatting animatedly, a knock suddenly sounded at the door, and a security guard from the restaurant walked in.
"Excuse me, the black car downstairs belongs to someone in this room, yes? Could I ask whose it is?" the security guard from Longwan Grand Restaurant asked respectfully. "It’s partially blocking another parking space, making it hard for others to get in and out. Would you mind moving it?"
Inside the room, all the other classmates’ eyes turned to Wei Junchao. He was apparently the only one who had driven to the restaurant.
"Oh, that’s my car. Here are the keys, you can move it for me," Wei Junchao said, a smug look on his face as he tossed the keys to the guard.
The security guard caught the keys and was about to leave when he glanced down at the logo. "Huh? These keys are for a Nissan Teana. But the car downstairs isn’t a Teana. It’s much more expensive... I think it’s a Porsche 911!"
*(Third update of the day is finally done! I’m dead tired and heading to bed. Have to wake up early tomorrow. Good night, everyone!)*
