Chapter 110: Chapter 110: A Clean Sweep

Longwan Restaurant was a major establishment, after all. The service was first-class, and the food came out quickly.

As the dishes were brought out one by one, the classmates immediately picked up their chopsticks and dug in. Some served themselves from the plates while others sipped their soup, and everyone was in high spirits.

"This corn rice is the most fragrant and delicious. I love it."

"Mhm, I think so too."

"Hey! Liu the Monkey, you glutton! Leave some for me! Damn it, you filled your whole bowl. Save me some!"

"Hehe, in your dreams. It’s your fault for being slow. Oh, but there are a few grains left on the serving dish for you. We can’t be wasteful, haha."

"You bastard, I’ll just eat from your bowl!"

"The hell? Your spoon is covered in your spit, don’t stick it in my bowl."

"The shrimp and crab must be wild-caught."

"This steamed fish is good. That Immortal Flavor Old Fish is so hyped up, I doubt it tastes any better than this."

"Why isn’t the Immortal Flavor Old Fish here yet!"

Just as they were speaking, the fragrant scent of fish suddenly wafted in from the doorway, instantly capturing the attention of everyone in the private room.

"Whoa, it smells amazing!"

"Could that dish be the Immortal Flavor Old Fish?"

"It looks delicious."

"Ahhh, I have to eat it! My chopsticks can’t wait any longer!"

A server walked in, holding a platter with both hands. There was only one fish on it—a grass carp, but it was unlike any ordinary grass carp. Everyone had eaten dishes made with regular grass carp before, and they were all fairly standard. This one, however, was completely different. It looked much more enticing, and the aroma it radiated was simply soul-stirring. The mere scent was intoxicating.

"Everyone, the Immortal Flavor Old Fish is here!" the server said with a smile, placing the platter on the round table. She noted the customers’ expressions but wasn’t surprised at all. Such was the charm of the Immortal Flavor Old Fish; she had seen plenty of guests lose their composure over it and had grown accustomed to the sight.

Before the server had even finished speaking, everyone had already picked up their chopsticks. Their eyes were glued to the Immortal Flavor Old Fish in her hands, ready to pounce. They looked like hungry wolves spotting a lamb, or mice finding a pile of rice. The moment the server placed the Immortal Flavor Old Fish on the table...

SWISH!

Everyone moved at once. A dozen pairs of chopsticks shot towards the platter of Immortal Flavor Old Fish. Pieces of fish were swiftly picked up and placed in their mouths.

"Holy shit, this is—"

"It’s so good!"

"Delicious, absolutely delicious!"

"Hey, don’t just grab! Let’s be a little civilized, people!"

"Civilized? Civilized my ass! You’re faster than anyone else!"

"Meixiang, you’re a girl, watch your table manners!"

"It’s too good! I can’t worry about that right now!"

Over a dozen pairs of chopsticks descended on the fish, devouring it like a whirlwind. In the blink of an eye, just moments later, the entire platter of Immortal Flavor Old Fish was picked clean. They didn’t even spare the head or bones. One classmate went so far as to lift the platter and drink every last drop of the sauce.

"It’s gone?"

"We finished it already?"

"Damn, I want more. What do we do?"

Still not satisfied, the classmates stared blankly at the empty platter.

"It was just too good. No wonder it has such a great reputation!"

"I only got two bites before it was gone. That guy Liu the Monkey ate at least three or four pieces."

"Haha, you think you can compete with his speed when it comes to food?"

"Actually, I only got two bites too."

"You all got two or three pieces, but I fucking only got one!"

"No way, you were that slow?"

"After my first bite, I couldn’t help but savor it for a moment. By the time I snapped out of it... you know the rest. It was all gone!"

"Hahaha!"

"Huh? Oh, right. I don’t think Ye Xing ate any!"

"Yeah, I didn’t see him move his chopsticks either. Xingzai, you didn’t have any of the Immortal Flavor Old Fish?" a classmate asked, puzzled.

"I don’t really eat it. You guys enjoy," Ye Xing said with a faint smile. While his classmates were all fighting over the Immortal Flavor Old Fish, Ye Xing had simply been watching, with no intention of picking up his chopsticks. For one, he could have as much Immortal Flavor Old Fish as he wanted, so there was no need to compete with his classmates. Besides, the amount of Heaven and Earth Energy in the Immortal Flavor Old Fish was so thin it was practically negligible. After all, the fish had been raised by Ye Xing using a special grass carp feed he developed. The feed itself contained very little Demon Beast Meat, with the ratio of starch and Chinese medicinal herbs to meat being several hundred to one. The grass carp that ate this feed developed a delicious flavor and texture, but the Energy contained in their meat was so scarce it could be disregarded.

If Ye Xing were to eat something for his cultivation, he would eat Demon Beast Meat directly. It tasted better and was far more beneficial for his Cultivation. There was no reason for him to eat the Immortal Flavor Old Fish, whose Energy had been diluted hundreds of times over. On the Martial Arts Continent, Demon Beasts were divided into Level 1 through Level 9. The feed used to raise the Immortal Flavor Old Fish was made entirely with Level 1 Demon Beast Meat. Ye Xing was currently a Martial Artist at the Peak of the Martial Arts Second Realm, so when he ate Demon Beast Meat, he didn’t bother with Level 1. Instead, he ate Level 2 or Level 3 Demon Beast Meat, since the Energy Essence they contained was much richer than that of Level 1 Demon Beast Meat. For Cultivation, Martial Artists generally chose meat from Demon Beasts of a corresponding level. If the level was too low, the Energy was too sparse to be useful. If the level was too high, the Energy Essence was too overwhelming to handle. Thus, they usually chose meat of a corresponding level. Martial Artists of the Martial Arts First Realm typically consumed Level 1 Demon Beast Meat for their Cultivation, and Martial Artists of the Martial Arts Second Realm would consume Level 2 Demon Beast Meat.

The Energy in the Immortal Flavor Old Fish was too thin. For an ordinary person, it might have some slight use, subtly improving their constitution over time. But for Ye Xing, it was completely useless.

"What? Xingzai, you really didn’t have a single piece?"

"That doesn’t make any sense. How could you not be tempted by such delicious fish?"

"Yeah, we were all dying for a bite, and you just sat there leisurely without eating a single piece."

The classmates were utterly baffled.

"Haha, why are you all so unhappy that I didn’t eat? If I eat one less piece, that means one more piece for you all," Ye Xing said with a laugh.

"Huh, that’s true! Haha, but since you didn’t eat any of the fish, you don’t have to chip in for the Immortal Flavor Old Fish. The rest of us who ate it will split the cost."

"Sigh, what am I going to do now? After eating the Immortal Flavor Old Fish, all the other dishes seem completely tasteless!"

"Me too. That flavor was just incredible."

"We can’t let the food on the table go to waste. We should at least eat a little more."

The classmates continued to chat idly, occasionally taking a bite or two of the other dishes while also watching the TV.

At that moment, the LCD TV on the wall of the private room was showing an entertainment news segment. A group of reporters were interviewing a female celebrity. The star looked to be around twenty years old and was exceptionally beautiful, with long eyelashes framing a pair of captivating, ink-black eyes.

(Got back too late, so sleepy. Just one update for today, I’ll release three tomorrow!)
