Despite his uncomfortable position, Roderic kicked himself away with all his might.

BOOOM!

The sword smashed into the ground where he’d just been.

But it wasn’t over.

As Roderic rolled away, a violent burst of aura followed him.

CRACK! CRACK!

The ground split apart, sending rocks and dirt flying everywhere.

Roderic gritted his teeth, crossing his blades in front of him just before the attack struck him.

THUD!

The attack slammed into him.

Roderic’s body was sent flying several feet back.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

He crashed onto his back before rolling through the mud.

’Fuck...’

Roderic quickly planted a blade into the ground and forced himself back to his feet.

Though his arms trembled faintly from the attack, a wide grin appeared on his face.

’It’s done,’ he thought, twirling his hooked blades in his hands.

One knight had lost both his arms, completely removing him from the fight.

The other stood hunched over, desperately sucking in air while using his longsword to support himself.

He had absolutely no aura left around his body.

Roderic’s gaze flickered past them.

He could still see the very distant torchlight along with two silhouettes.

’Gareth,’ he thought. ’You’re dead.’

Unwilling to waste another second, Roderic burst forward.

The exhausted knight looked up with hazy eyes, barely even capable of standing.

Even so, he still raised his sword.

’’For the lord,’’ he muttered between strained breaths.

Just as he was about to take a step forward, Roderic appeared directly in front of him.

SHHK!

Before he could even react, his head left his body.

As the headless corpse collapsed onto the ground, Roderic continued towards the second knight.

’’AH!’’ the man shouted, turning around. ’’SPARE ME!’’

Despite bleeding profusely, he ran away at immense speed.

’’PLEASE!’’ he continued shouting.

The knight truly did everything in his power to get away from Roderic.

Unfortunately, it simply wasn’t enough.

WHOOSH!

SHHK!

The man’s body collapsed forward, a hooked blade buried deep inside his skull.

Roderic rushed past only two seconds later, the blade flying back to his hand.

’Go, go, go,’ he thought, his heart tightening. ’I can’t waste any more time!’

The torchlight ahead was growing brighter with every step.

Finally, Roderic spotted the two familiar figures calmly walking ahead.

Well... only one was walking calmly.

’’Come on, young lord!’’ the torchbearer’s voice rang out desperately. ’’The horses are just up ahead!’’

Gareth glanced at the servant in disgust.

’’How dare you order me around,’’ he said, squinting his eyes. ’’We have absolutely nothing to be afraid of. It is utterly ridiculous that I, the heir to the Deres barony, am walking away.’’

The torchbearer swallowed nervously.

Unlike Gareth, the servant had actually been present in a territorial war.

And he knew very clearly that the odds weren’t in their favor.

’’But young master,’’ he said slowly. ’’I really think we should—’’

SHHK!

His words suddenly stopped.

Gareth immediately glanced over with a frown.

His frown slowly turned into a look of utter horror.

The man had tears forming in his eyes as he desperately reached out to him.

His mouth opened and closed, but no words came out.

Gareth swallowed hard, his gaze locked on the man’s neck.

’’What the...’’

Something had sliced straight through the side, shooting out a short burst of blood.

Just as the man was about to collapse, something suddenly moved in front of them.

WHOOSH!

An azure hooked blade appeared in the corner of Gareth’s eye.

It flew through the air, heading straight back towards the servant.

SHHK!

The weapon cleaved through the servant’s skull, splitting his head into two pieces.

’’WHAT THE FUCK?!’’ Gareth shouted, his face draining of color.

The young noble stumbled back before his leg got caught on a tree branch.

THUD!

Gareth fell to the ground, his eyes darting through the dark forest behind him.

’’REVEAL YOURSELF!’’ he shouted desperately.

But no response came.

Gareth began breathing heavily, his heart racing in his chest.

’’COME OUT!’’ he continued shouting. ’’I DARE YO—’’

Tap! Tap!

Gareth felt two faint taps on his shoulder.

Shivers rolled down his spine as he spun towards the source.

’’WHA—’’

BAM!

A fist slammed directly into his face.

Gareth’s head snapped back as his body was sent tumbling across the ground.

Thud!

He landed face-first in the dirt.

’’F-Fuck...’’

Blood began pouring from his nose as he spat his front tooth out.

That’s when he saw a pair of boots stop directly in front of him.

Gareth slowly looked up, his eyes filled with fear.

Roderic stood over him, both Azure blades still dripping with blood.

’’Should’ve listened to him, buddy,’’ he said, grinning viciously.

Gareth opened his mouth.

BAM!

Roderic’s fist slammed into his face before he could even say a word.

And he wasn’t done there.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Punch after punch landed on Gareth’s face.

Teeth shattered, blood began pouring out from under his broken nose, and his eyes swelled up.

’’Fuck you! Fuck you! Fuck you!’’ Roderic cursed with each punch.

Finally, after a few more punches, he let out a deep breath and let go of Gareth.

Thud!

The young noble collapsed onto the ground, breathing with much difficulty.

Roderic didn’t waste any time.

Now that Gareth was calm and quiet, he wrapped his hand around his face and began dragging him towards the battlefield.

As he rushed between the trees, Roderic couldn’t help but glance down for a moment.

’’Arrogant, stupid and powerless,’’ he muttered, utterly disgusted. ’’It really is all the same for your family.’’

Roderic fell silent for a moment.

Countless possible scenarios flashed through his mind.

Edmund lying injured somewhere, knights who had sat around talking about their families now lying dead on the battlefield.

Even innocent servants who had people waiting for them back home.

’How many of them will have died because of this one moron?’

Roderic clenched his fists tightly.

’’Argh!’’

Gareth’s hands moved towards his head, trying to get rid of Roderic’s tight grip.

Roderic snapped out of his thoughts and glanced down with narrowed eyes.

’’You think this is painful?’’ he asked, tilting his head. ’’Just wait until I cut you up and send your body parts to your aunt.’’
