Chapter 394.1: The Buddha's Guidance Saved You? Now the Buddha Is Here, Was It Really His Guidance?

The forest was lush green, enveloping heaven and earth in emerald hues. Yesterday it had been autumn, with red maple leaves carpeting the woods, and now it was spring.

Standing on a mountain path, Ning Tao's gaze carried a nostalgic look. "This used to be a solitary peak. There were quite a few caves here. When I was young, I hid here for an entire year."

Canary chimed in appropriately, her eyes sparkling, "I remember an especially delicious red fruit! Too bad I never got to eat it again!"

Thinking of the cave, Qi Yuan tightened his grip on their little hands.

When he engraved his Origin Divine Technique onto the Myriad Demon Gates, he experienced the Great Demon's reincarnation firsthand. However, because Canary had suddenly intruded, she replaced the demoness who should have schemed against him. Canary had foolishly followed him all along, playing the role of a rather unconventional demoness. She had even brought him to live in seclusion inside a cave.

He asked, "Want to reverse time and find that fruit again?"

Though Ning Tao's Divine Domain was related to space-time, she could neither reverse time itself nor resurrect the dead. But rewinding time, recreating a tree that once existed, and producing a similar fruit was still within her abilities.

She was remarkably open-minded. "There's no need. Maybe it was only delicious because of the memories attached to it. If I ate it again, it might just be ordinary."

Her gaze landed on the mountain summit. There stood a Buddhist pagoda, solemn and majestic. Copper bells hung from its ancient eaves. When the bell tolled, the copper bells rang in response.

A trace of disappointment flickered in her eyes. "I never expected that Buddhism would reign supreme in today's Flowing Wind World."

The Blood Palace had once stood at the peak of its glory as the number one power in this world. Qi Yuan had slain the Myriad Demon Gate's greatest enemy, exterminated the demoness, and prevented the world's destruction. Unfortunately, after the Blood Master vanished, the once-mighty Blood Palace endured for only a hundred years before collapsing. As for the Blood Master's achievements, no one sang of them anymore.

He understood Ning Tao's thoughts and smiled. "Why care about useless opinions?"

Ning Tao nodded and softly replied, "Nowadays, this world is filled with temples and monasteries. In another month, the Myriad Buddhas Assembly will be held. Those Buddhist Sons from the upper world should all attend."

He pondered. "Given the habits of the Myriad Phenomena Gate, do you think it might appear during the Myriad Buddhas Assembly?"

He already had some guesses about the conditions under which the gate manifested. It should be linked to major events—moments when the power of an entire world converged.

She nodded. "That's possible."

Canary smiled excitedly. "Hehe, that broken gate is finally about to become my front door!"

It was obvious she held considerable resentment toward the Myriad Phenomena Gate. After all, back then, Qi Yuan had spent every day staring at the gate. Canary could never understand it. Was that gate prettier than she was? Now that it was about to become her own front door, she was in an excellent mood.

Qi Yuan's thoughts wandered. "The Buddhist teachings here are quite interesting. They come from the Upper World. Doesn't that mean these bald monks are all my White Moonlights?"

Since they came from the upper world, they definitely had ample Divine Methods. To him, all Divine Methods were nourishment for the Qi Yuan Scripture.

He looked at the temples on the mountain. "Why don't we tour the Flowing Wind World while begging for alms? It seems I have an affinity with the Buddha!"

After all, upper world cultivation methods always seemed destined for him. These monks who could provide Buddhist teachings were all his White Moonlights. Although having monks as White Moonlights sounded a bit strange, true love did not care about worldly opinions.

Canary's eyes curved into crescents as she smiled. "Let's go, let's go! I have never begged for alms before!"

Just then, a frantic cry for help rang out.

Qi Yuan looked over. Below the mountain path, hanging from a cliff, was an elderly woman clutching a pine root. She was stricken with panic. The root had already been pulled loose and seemed about to snap.

Nearby, a young girl watched anxiously. "Someone help! Save her!"

The girl was named Bai Baixiang. For someone as adorable and innocent-looking as she was, she possessed considerable strength. Unfortunately, she caused too much trouble, so her master had sealed away her cultivation. Faced with the situation, she could only panic helplessly.

Qi Yuan said gently, "Let today's good deed begin with you."

A streak of crimson light flashed, landing on the elderly woman. Immediately, she rose from below the cliff and floated safely onto the road.

Bai Baixiang finally relaxed. She hurriedly looked toward the man who had saved the woman, then froze for a moment and blinked. There are actually still admirers of Blood Master in this world?

That blood-red robe was practically identical to the one her master had made! She didn't have to think any further. That man had to be an admirer of the Blood Master! Unfortunately, admiring the Blood Master was merely a niche hobby nowadays. It wasn’t even in the same league as worshipping bald monks.

When she got a clear look at the rescuer's face, she became even happier. Sure enough, only handsome and beautiful fellows admired the Blood Master! Yet the moment she saw the two women beside him, her expression changed. A sense of inferiority arose in her heart.

What kind of heaven-blessed beauty was this? Such peerless elegance and grace! If she could possess either trait, she would die without regrets. To obtain both? Better stay alive, or it would be too regrettable! Without hesitation, she hurried over to greet them. After all, it was rare to encounter fellow enthusiasts on the road.

Qi Yuan said gently to the old woman, "Hey, aren't you supposed to thank me in situations like this?"

Snapping back to reality, the old woman’s expression shifted. Thank him?

Recalling something, she turned toward the pagoda atop the mountain with a devout expression. "Thank you, Buddha, for performing a miracle and delivering this humble believer from peril! I will be sure to eat vegetarian meals, chant scriptures, and worship sincerely!"

She even kowtowed several times. Her attitude was extremely sincere.

Qi Yuan was stunned, growing somewhat unhappy. "Shouldn't you thank me too?"

Yet there wasn't the slightest gratitude in her gaze toward him. "The Buddha has arranged for you to save me! Naturally, I should thank the Buddha!"

Or rather, she didn't want to feel grateful, lest she be expected to repay the favor. Above all, when she had been in danger, she had prayed to the Buddha enshrined in this pagoda. Clearly, this was the Buddha's compassion!

Bai Baixiang angrily ran over. "Some of these monks' followers are absolutely disgusting."

She emphasized some, clearly unwilling to condemn all followers.

Qi Yuan smiled. Followers of gods often behaved this way. If they were helped, not only would they fail to thank you, they would instead believe it was all the deity's guidance.

He instead asked calmly, "Are you certain this was your Buddha's guidance?"

The old woman stared at him. Even though she knew he was an immortal cultivator, she showed no fear. She was obviously a fanatic.

The old woman said with absolute certainty, "There is a True Buddha guarding the temple here. Naturally, it was the True Buddha's guidance!"

Seeing something strange in Qi Yuan's eyes, Bai Baixiang quickly warned him, "There is a Sixth Realm Half-Buddha stationed inside that pagoda. Don't do anything reckless!"

A Sixth Realm Half-Buddha was equivalent to the Yin Spirit realm.[1]

Thinking he was about to attack the old woman, the girl hurriedly tried to stop him.

Qi Yuan merely smiled. Looking toward the pagoda atop the peak, he extended a finger. "You, the Half-Buddha in seclusion, get over here! I have a question for you!"

1. Aha, because the Yin Spirit is the sixth realm. Qi Refinement, Foundation Establishment, Core Formation, Nascent Soul, Violet Palace, Yin Spirit. ☜
