My Core is the Boss

Chapter 393.2: Let Us Walk The Road I Missed Together

Qi Yuan stood up and walked toward the stone pool.

Ning Tao said crisply, "Hehe, so you really did peek back then. Otherwise, I wouldn't have married you."

Back then, Ning Tao had said that if Qi Yuan peeked, she would marry him when she grew up. Canary was simply reasoning backward from the result.

He looked over. "Don't slander me. I'm an upright gentleman."

Sitting on a blue stone, Canary wore a long dress in shades of blue and orange-yellow. The blue silk was embroidered with flowers and birds. The butterfly knot on her orange sash had been soaked by water, resembling a butterfly caught in the rain.

Lifting her skirt slightly, she swung her two fair legs. Her bare jade feet revealed delicate and rounded toes as exquisite as works of art. They were small and crystal-like, seemingly able to fit within the palm of one hand.

Meanwhile, Ning Tao stood in a black dress, her expression cool and elegant. She was entirely submerged in the water. Her excessively pale skin contrasted sharply against her black stockings, beneath which her delicate toes rested neatly together.

Canary resembled a cute cherry, while Ning Tao resembled a cold snow pear.

Looking at the two—or rather, one woman—Qi Yuan's gaze became gentle. "There's still plenty of time. I'll accompany you through all the roads that I never walked beside you in the past."

From Canary to Ning Tao, Qi Yuan had been absent for too many years, especially after Canary had become a demoness. Though she had always cared most about beauty, she had been treated as a hideous monster. One could imagine what she had endured.

Canary averted her gaze, unable to conceal her joy. "Hmph, then we have a lot of roads to walk!"

Ning Tao extended her slender hand. "Then let us begin here."

This was where her connection with Qi Yuan had begun.Water splashed everywhere.

Canary pouted. "Hey, this water is cold! I didn't want to get in!"

Even so, she still wrapped her arms around Qi Yuan, her eyes filled with deep yearning.

He took hold of Canary's delicate foot and curiously asked, "Why is it that you never hear of women having foot fetishes? Could it be because men's feet aren't attractive enough?"

His thoughts wandered aimlessly.

"Gross!" Canary's pretty face flushed red. "Ning Tao, help me! Step on him!"

Inside a certain room, Ling Yayi was nearly in tears, wailing miserably, "Save me, Master! Save me! I'm so miserable! I'm going to die! This is too vicious! How can they be so ruthless?!"

The Unlight Buddhist Son gazed at him calmly. "If he is still alive and can come save you, then everything will end."

Ling Yayi was furious. "Hey, Unlight Buddhist Son, you're not human! How can anyone bully people like this? I already told you I don't want to be a monk! I don't want to participate in any Myriad Buddhas Assembly!"

Being captured by the Unlight Buddhist Son was one thing, but he wanted Ling Yayi to become a monk! Naturally, he refused. The problem was that the Buddhist Son completely ignored his wishes. Every day, he tormented Ling Yayi, claiming that Ling Yayi’s worldly desires were too deep. He said Ling Yayi desperately required purification, but it was merely mental torture disguised as something else.

First, he would use Buddhist techniques to amplify Ling Yayi's desires severalfold. Then, all kinds of delicacies and rare treasures would appear before Ling Yayi, accompanied by beautiful fox women dancing provocatively. Ling Yayi could only look but he could not touch, take, or eat.

How could Ling Yayi not be furious? This kind of torture was exhausting. It was no less tiring than a certain activity repeated twelve times in one night. Why the comparison was so specific remained unknown.

The Unlight Buddhist Son said calmly, "You have the Reincarnation Power and are fated with Buddhism. You should become a true Buddha of this generation. This time, you will represent our Tanke Sacred Land at the Myriad Buddhas Assembly. You must win first place. The desires within you are too strong. If they aren't cleansed diligently, even the Reincarnation Power won't be enough to help you break into the top ten."

Ling Yayi cried in anguish, "Who begs people like this?!"

Who tested people like this?! This Buddhist guy was too vicious! The upper world was filled with psychopaths! This wasn't simply torture by punishment! If it were actual torture, Ling Yayi would have confessed long ago!

"I'll represent you, alright? Just stop tormenting me!"

"This is not torment. It is the cleansing of desire. It is a pity you are not the Blood Master. If it were him, perhaps no cleansing would be necessary at all, and he would already qualify as a true Buddha."

Since the Reincarnation Power possessed by the Thirteen Northern Demons was undoubtedly related to the Blood Master, he himself likely possessed an even stronger power. From a few scattered lines in ancient texts, the Unlight Buddhist Son could already see that the Blood Master had been an astonishing genius. Unlike the one before him, who had too many desires and impurities.

Ling Yayi laughed. "Heh, you're wrong about that. My master is way more ruthless than I am. He killed without blinking. His robe was stained red with blood. Why do you think he was called the Blood Master? It is because he killed too many people. How can someone like that become a true Buddha?"

Since his master was not around, making up a few stories at his expense was harmless fun.

The Unlight Buddhist Son's voice was full of Buddhist serenity. "After killing a million people, he no longer killed living beings, but the distracting thoughts within his heart. Shouldn’t such a genius become a true Buddha?"

Ling Yayi froze, the corner of his mouth twitching. "So my excessive desires are because I haven't killed enough people?"

The Unlight Buddhist Son shook his head. "If you killed too many, you would become a great devil. After laying down the butcher's knife, your soul would be extinguished, and your body could become a Vajra Protector of our Buddhist sect."

"So whether I kill too much or too little, I'm wrong either way?" Ling Yayi was taken aback. "And besides, isn't the saying, ‘Lay down the butcher's knife and become a Buddha’? How did it become 'your corpse becomes a Vajra Protector'?"

For the first time, a trace of helplessness entered the Unlight Buddhist Son's calm voice. "If Buddhahood were so easily attained, then the Land of Buddha would be filled with slaughter."

Ling Yayi asked cautiously, "Hey, if my fellow disciples get captured by people from the upper world like you, what'll happen to them?"

"Those who have the Reincarnation Power may become true Buddhas. Generally speaking, there will not be much danger. Moreover, you are Bai Ze’s disciples. Within the Land of Buddha, no one should dare do much to you. But everything has its own karma and destiny. Anything is possible."

The Land of Buddha was far from a land of peace. Otherwise, its various sacred lands would not have spent so many years fighting over orthodoxy. Now that the opportunity to determine orthodoxy had arisen in the Flowing Wind World, Buddhist Sons from every sacred land descended there.

Naturally, the Unlight Buddhist Son hoped the Land of Buddha could be unified and the wars would cease, but could unification really be so easy?

Ling Yayi sighed. "I just hope they're alright. It really sucks."
