My Child and I Married a Billionaire

Chapter 406: Someone in the Room?

  • Next Chapter

Faye Fisher was caught off guard and jumped in fright.

With a cry, she dove into Wyatt Wynn’s arms.

Wyatt Wynn gently patted her back.

"Alright, alright. I’m just helping you get in the shower, that’s all. It’s nothing to be afraid of. Are you sober now? If you are, you can take your time. I’ll wait for you at the door. Call me if you need anything."

’It wasn’t proper for a man and woman to be so close, and besides, she was another man’s wife. What would it look like for them to be in a bathroom together?’

As Wyatt Wynn spoke, he turned to leave, but Faye Fisher clung to his arm.

"No! You’re not allowed to leave!"

Wyatt Wynn was speechless. "I’m not going far, just to the door. The light’s on, it’s not dark. You’re a grown woman—can’t you even take a shower by yourself?"

Faye Fisher held on tight and refused to let go. "I can’t! Without you, I can’t do anything! I’m helpless! Wyatt Wynn, you’re not leaving!"

Their clothes were soaked through. Water streamed down from their hair, and they could barely open their eyes. Wyatt Wynn wiped his face.

"You haven’t been drinking tonight, so don’t talk such nonsense. Faye Fisher, we’re both adults..."

Before he could finish, Faye Fisher suddenly rose onto her tiptoes, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him on the mouth.

The kiss stunned Wyatt Wynn.

He felt the softness of her lips for a few seconds before he hurriedly pulled back, pushing Faye Fisher away.

"What are you doing? Are you crazy?"

Faye Fisher looked at him with a dazed expression.

"That’s right, I am crazy. Why else would I have run all the way from Coalmont to Veridia to marry a man I didn’t even know? If I hadn’t known he was your friend, do you think I would have married him? It was all to get in front of you, to spite you! I threw away my entire life’s happiness, and now you’re telling me what happened back then was just a misunderstanding? Wyatt Wynn, do you have any idea how miserable I am right now?"

’Wyatt Wynn knew it. With her personality, there had to be a reason she was willing to marry Brandon Jacobs.’

But he had never imagined it was really because of him.

"How could you be so reckless? Marriage is a huge commitment, and you did it just to spite me?"

At the mention of spite, Faye Fisher suddenly broke into sobs.

"I went crazy after we broke up. I was just a walking corpse. If it weren’t for my parents, I wouldn’t have even survived until now. What’s a little thing like marriage? As long as I could see you, as long as I could be in your face every day and make you miserable, I would’ve done something even more vicious!"

"I thought I’d never regret my choices, but Wyatt, I regret it now. I admit it, I’m pathetic. I love you. From the very beginning, right up until this moment, I’ve never been able to forget you. And now I suddenly don’t know how to go on living. I’m serious. If you push me away again, if you lock me back in that gilded cage with the Jacobs family, I really won’t be able to go on..."

Wyatt Wynn’s heart ached for her.

He’d been in turmoil from the moment Faye Fisher had reappeared in his life.

He had thought he’d accepted their reality, but listening to Faye’s words now, he felt like he was about to shatter.

’He longed to pull her into his arms, too.’

"You... I don’t even know what to say. Faye, if things are really this bad, you should divorce Brandon Jacobs. You can’t just let your whole life waste away like this. If you’re afraid to tell him, I’ll do it tomorrow."

"Tomorrow’s problems are for tomorrow. I want today. I want now."

With that, Faye lunged forward and threw her arms around his neck again.

"Don’t push me away again. I really can’t take it anymore. Please."

The running water had washed away most of her smoky eye makeup, revealing her fair, true face underneath.

She was still so young. Without all that makeup, she looked so pure and lovely. Seeing her like this, Wyatt felt as if he were dreaming of the past. His body, long dormant, suddenly couldn’t hold back any longer, and they fell into a kiss.

It was destined to be a sleepless night.

They didn’t fall into an exhausted sleep until the first light of dawn, and they overslept right through to breakfast time.

Cecelia Archer and Damien Vaughn had gone to bed early the night before, so they were full of energy when they went down for breakfast. Cecelia sent a message in their group chat, asking when everyone else was coming.

On the way there, they had planned an itinerary to explore Seacliff, and they were supposed to set out at eight in the morning.

Brandon Jacobs was the first to reply, saying something had come up and he wouldn’t be joining them. He told the others to make sure Faye Fisher had a good time.

Damien Vaughn and Cecelia Archer exchanged a speechless glance.

The second person to reply was Zeke Walton.

Even though he’d had a lot to drink the night before, he had also slept for quite a while. With something on his mind, he opened his eyes the moment his phone vibrated. He was disappointed to see it wasn’t a message from Amina, and he no longer felt like sleeping.

He soon shuffled into the restaurant in his slippers.

Noticing his slightly puffy eyes, Cecelia asked him what he’d been up to last night. Only then did Zeke remember how much he’d had to drink, and he realized he had no idea what time Wyatt Wynn and Faye Fisher had returned.

"Why aren’t those two down yet? We’re going to be late. And you know Faye, she’ll need a lot of time for her makeup. Let’s give them a call."

Cecelia Archer called Faye Fisher, but her phone was off.

Zeke Walton called Wyatt Wynn, but Wyatt’s phone was lying in the living room. Meanwhile, in the bedroom with the curtains drawn, the two of them were wrapped in each other’s arms, sleeping soundly.

’What’s going on? One isn’t answering and the other’s phone is off. Could something have happened?’

A bad feeling washed over Zeke, and he put down his fork.

"I’ll go check on them in their room."

"DING DONG, DING DONG, DING DONG..."

He mashed the doorbell button relentlessly until Wyatt Wynn was finally jolted awake.

He opened his eyes and fumbled for his phone. When he couldn’t find it, he grabbed his watch and glanced at the time. Realizing how late it was, he hurriedly shook Faye.

"Wake up, stop sleeping. It’s time to get up and get going."

Faye Fisher groggily opened her eyes, her whole body aching.

"Oww, hiss... You were a little too rough last night."

Wyatt Wynn: "..."

’Thinking back to last night, could he really have been anything but rough? She’d been wrapped around him like an octopus.’

"Don’t talk right now. Someone’s at the door. I’ll go see who it is."

Their clothes were in a soggy heap on the bathroom floor. Wyatt Wynn grabbed a bath towel to wrap around himself before heading to the door.

"Who is it?"

Zeke was exasperated. "Man, how can you sleep so soundly? I practically broke the doorbell before I heard a peep. I was starting to think something had happened to you. Hurry up and get down for breakfast. We’re leaving at eight sharp."

Wyatt Wynn listened from the other side of the door and grunted in acknowledgment.

"Got it. You go on ahead. I’ll be right there."

Zeke said, "Go down for what? I’ve already finished. Open the door, I’ll come in and wait for you."

Wyatt Wynn froze in panic.

’I absolutely cannot let him in.’

’If he saw me in here with Faye, all hell would break loose.’

"Don’t you have your own room? If you want to rest, go back to your own room. I still need to take a shower."

"So shower. What’s the big deal? It’s not like I haven’t seen you naked. We probably showered together a hundred times growing up. Is there any part of you I haven’t seen?"

As Zeke spoke, he started ringing the doorbell incessantly.

"Hurry up and open the door. Stop stalling."
