My Child and I Married a Billionaire

Chapter 403: This Kid Is So Cute

  • Next Chapter

Wyatt Wynn wanted to say, ’Have you seen me date anyone in the past few years? A breakup? What breakup?!’

But when the words reached his lips, he glanced at Faye Fisher’s stunningly beautiful face and swallowed them back down.

"So you guys are allowed to be heartbroken, but I’m not?"

Zeke Walton was stunned. "So it’s true? Damn, you’re tight-lipped, Wynn! When did you start dating her? Why didn’t you bring her around for us to meet? I tell you everything, I don’t keep any secrets from you, but you, you son of a bitch... you’ve already broken up and I still had to pry it out of you!"

Wyatt Wynn poured himself a drink as well and downed it in one go.

"You said it yourself—it’s already over. What else is there to say? I never go back to an ex. Let’s just let the past be the past and not talk about it again."

"So I guess that makes us the heartbroken club. What kind of fucking luck is this? Come on, drink up!"

It’s not the wine that gets you drunk, but your own sorrows. With a heavy heart, Zeke Walton deliberately drank himself into a stupor and was soon passed out cold.

He was sprawled on the sofa, refusing to budge. Wyatt Wynn couldn’t move him alone, so he had to ask Faye Fisher for help.

"Give me a hand getting him back to the hotel. He’s miserable over his breakup, and he’s going to make a scene if we leave him here."

Faye Fisher and Wyatt each took one of his arms, listening to Zeke Walton’s drunken ramblings on the way back to the hotel.

"Wasn’t I good enough to you?! I would’ve fucking torn my heart out for you, and you betrayed me! Is there a better man than me in all of Veridia? Are you fucking blind?! Amina, you’ll regret this... No, Amina, don’t leave me... Don’t go..."

The hotel was only a few hundred meters from the bar, and he yelled the entire way, so much so that even Faye Fisher had pieced together the gist of his love story.

Back at the hotel, they tossed him onto the bed. Seeing him still mumbling Amina’s name, Faye Fisher couldn’t resist leaning in and planting a kiss on his cheek.

"How can this guy be so adorable? He’s handsome and so devoted. The more I look at him, the more I like him. It’s true, there aren’t many men as good as him in Veridia. That girl must be blind."

Wyatt Wynn: "..."

After giving Zeke Walton a quick wipe-down and tucking him in, the two of them left the room.

It was a hot summer night to begin with, and the effort of helping him back had left them both drenched in sweat.

Wyatt Wynn was ready to go back to his room, take a shower, and call it a night. He stopped at his door, but Faye Fisher just kept walking down the hall.

He couldn’t help but watch as she kept going, nearly reaching the end of the corridor. He hurried after her.

"Where are you going? It’s late. We’ve eaten, we’ve had drinks. Aren’t you going to bed?"

It was only a little after ten, but Faye Fisher was agitated. Being alone would just make her overthink things, and she refused to stay in her room by herself.

"What’s it to you where I’m going? Do I know you, sir? Move."

Saying this, she tried to step around Wyatt Wynn to call the elevator, but he stood firm, blocking her way.

"Are you nuts, Faye Fisher? Are you an alcoholic? Will you die if you go one day without a drink? It’s this late, even us guys are turning in, and you, a woman dressed like that, are still trying to go out?"

Faye Fisher hadn’t wanted to argue with him, but his words made her temper flare. She shoved him hard in the chest.

"You’re just figuring out I’m crazy now? I’ve been fucking crazy for years! And you’re right, I am an alcoholic! I’ll die if I go one day without a drink! Is that any of your business? My own husband doesn’t tell me what to do, so what right do you have to boss me around? I like dressing like this, and I like going out! If something happens, it’s got nothing to do with you! Now get lost!"

In that instant, it felt as if they had gone back in time to when they were dating—to the moment she had demanded a breakup.

Back then, Wyatt Wynn had been young and hot-headed. He had refused to say a single conciliatory word to her. When she told him to get lost, he had simply turned and left.

Now, though his temper was still short, he was much more patient.

"I don’t want to control you, and I know I have no right to. But your husband came to the bar earlier and specifically asked Zeke Walton and me to look after you while he’s away. You’re a married woman now, and your husband’s family is powerful and influential. If something were to happen, none of us could afford the humiliation. Faye Fisher, can you please stop being so willful? Just go back."

Faye Fisher couldn’t help but look up at his face.

Tempered by the past few years, his features were still as young and sharp as ever, but his overall demeanor had become much more composed.

’He’s actually trying to reason with me now. He’s even considering the bigger picture.’

Faye Fisher wanted to laugh, but at the same time, she felt an urge to cry.

’He’s really forgotten the past. He moved on a long time ago. He even just broke up with some other woman. And me?’

’How ridiculous! How pathetic! How pitiful!’

"You’re absolutely right," she said. "I’ll go back, then."

She suddenly stopped causing trouble. With a surprisingly agreeable attitude, she turned and walked to her door.

Wyatt Wynn followed two paces behind her, determined to watch her go into her room before he could relax.

But Faye Fisher stood at her door for a long time without moving.

"Why aren’t you using your keycard? Are you playing games with me? Saying you’ll go in, but the moment I turn my back, you’re just going to take off again?"

Faye Fisher turned around, her expression unreadable, and held out her empty hands.

"Thanks to you," she said dryly. "I forgot my purse at the bar."

「A moment later, the two of them were back at the bar.」

In a place with so many people coming and going, her expensive designer purse had just been left sitting out in the open. It would be a miracle if it was still there.

Wyatt Wynn had a server summon the bar manager, who said...

"It’s too crowded. Guests are responsible for their own property. We are not liable for lost items."

Wyatt Wynn, already in a foul mood, snapped. He grabbed the manager by the collar.

"Is this how business is done in all of Seacliff, or is it just your place? You have such a blatant disregard for customer safety. With an attitude this shitty, do you even want to stay in business? ’Not liable’? If you’re not fucking liable, then why bother hiring all this security and installing all these cameras? Are they just for show?"

The manager was in the business; he’d seen his fair share of tough guys and drunken maniacs.

He could tell from the man’s accent he was an outsider. ’And he dares to act tough with me?’ A shoving match quickly broke out.

You can’t fight a local on their own turf. Wyatt Wynn was outnumbered and quickly seized by a group of security guards, who threw him out onto the street.

Back in Veridia, Wyatt Wynn was a big shot who commanded respect. How could he possibly stomach being humiliated like this in a place like Seacliff?

He immediately tried to call for backup, but the head of security snatched his phone and smashed it on the ground.

"Don’t give me that shit about how tough you are in Veridia or who you know! This is Seacliff! We roll with Ken, and we don’t buy your act! A little punk like you wants to make trouble? Get the hell out! Scram! Or I’ll make sure you don’t live to see the morning!"

Seeing how out of line they were, Faye Fisher rushed forward to yell at them, but the head of security jabbed a finger in her face.

"We don’t have a problem hitting women in this line of work. Back off if you know what’s good for you. My fists are the size of sandbags, and they’re not just for decoration."

Faye Fisher: "You—!"

Seeing her standing before the head of security like a helpless chick, Wyatt Wynn grabbed the waistband of her shorts and yanked her behind him.

He wrapped an arm around Faye Fisher’s shoulders and, before turning to leave, shot a look at the security head.

"I’ll remember you," he said. "This isn’t over."
