My CEO Husband Says I'm Irreplaceable
Chapter 206: You Dare
Chapter 206: Chapter 206: You Dare
Summer quickly got out of the car, walked straight to Nolan Forrester’s side, and intimately looped her arm through his, her voice cloying.
"Nolan, I called you so many times, but you didn’t pick up. Our families arranged to have dinner together tonight. The elders are already there, just waiting for us."
Shiloh Sloan watched this scene, a faint trace of mockery flashing in her eyes.
Nolan Forrester’s expression turned cold. He yanked his arm back, his gaze toward Summer filled with iciness.
"You’re following me?"
"Of course not." Summer’s eyes darted away guiltily, her tone unconvincing. "A friend of mine saw you here and told me, so I rushed over to find you."
"Which friend?" Nolan Forrester pressed.
Summer was at a loss for words and quickly changed the subject.
"That’s not important. Let’s hurry back. We shouldn’t keep the elders waiting."
"You go back first." Nolan Forrester didn’t look at her. His gaze landed on Shiloh Sloan, and his voice softened. "I’ll take you home."
"That’s not necessary, but thank you for today." With that, Shiloh Sloan headed straight for a taxi by the curb and got in.
"Shiloh!"
Nolan Forrester’s heart tightened. He took a step to chase after her but was stopped by Summer, who grabbed his arm in a death grip.
"Nolan, today’s the day we’re supposed to discuss our engagement. You can’t leave!"
"When did I ever agree to get engaged to you?" Nolan Forrester’s expression was utterly grim.
"B-but our families tacitly agreed to this a long time ago..." Summer’s eyes reddened, brimming with frustration. "Nolan, I’ve loved you for so many years. What does she have that I don’t? Have you forgotten what she did back then... she..."
"Shut up!" Nolan Forrester snapped, his gaze bone-chillingly cold.
Summer’s expression instantly turned ugly, and deep down, her hatred for Shiloh Sloan grew wildly.
’He actually yelled at me for that bitch Shiloh Sloan!’
’It doesn’t matter. As long as I can marry into the Forrester family, I can endure any amount of humiliation! Once I become the young mistress of the Forresters, I’ll make Shiloh Sloan pay a terrible price!’
...
Shiloh Sloan didn’t go home. Instead, she told the driver to take her directly to the hospital.
On the way, she called Quentin Stone and Magnus.
When she arrived at the door of the hospital room, the two men were already waiting. Seeing her, they immediately came forward, their faces full of worry.
"Boss, are you okay?"
"Who’s that man inside? Did he give you trouble? He woke up a little while ago and has been cursing you out. The things he’s saying are vile!"
Shiloh Sloan’s expression was placid, her voice calm. "He’s my ex-stepfather. He broke into my home today and tried to assault me. I used the self-defense you taught me to teach him a proper lesson."
Realization dawned on Quentin Stone, and he nodded. "No wonder."
"No wonder what?" Shiloh Sloan looked up, raising an eyebrow at him.
"He’s been cursing you out. Saying some really nasty things," Quentin Stone said honestly.
Hearing this, Shiloh Sloan let out a cold scoff and, without another word, pushed open the hospital room door and went inside.
Seeing Shiloh Sloan appear, Quentin Chandler’s eyes flew wide open from his hospital bed, filled with hatred and venom. He roared, "You bitch! You ruined me! I should have killed you back then!"
SLAP!
A crisp, loud slap landed squarely on Quentin Chandler’s face. His skin was thick, making the sound of the impact especially loud. The blow knocked Quentin Chandler’s head to the side, stunning him for a moment. He struggled, about to curse again.
Shiloh Sloan’s eyes turned cold. Through the thick blanket, she grabbed his injured area in a death grip and squeezed slightly.
"Don’t!"
Quentin Chandler’s face turned deathly pale with fright.
"I don’t mind ruining you a second time. Feel free to keep running your mouth," Shiloh Sloan said, her tone flat but laced with a chilling ruthlessness.
Quentin Chandler shuddered. Looking at this ruthless and decisive stepdaughter who seemed like a completely different person, a deep fear finally bloomed in his heart. He was furious but dared not speak. ’He never could have imagined that the little girl from back then, who lived at his mercy and was his to command, could now walk all over him and act so tyrannically!’
’He could only swallow his anger.’
’He’d find a chance later to pay her back with interest.’
Shiloh Sloan casually tossed the settlement agreement and a pen, which she had prepared beforehand, in front of him. Her tone was non-negotiable.
"Sign it."
"What is this?"
Quentin Chandler picked it up and glanced at it. It was a settlement agreement.
"I’m not settling. Shiloh Sloan, you ruined me, and now you want me to sign a settlement? In your dreams! I’m going to sue you! You have to take full responsibility for me."
"Besides, I’ve got nothing now, so I have nothing to lose. Even if you ruin me again, I’ll never sign this!"
He was simmering with a rage he couldn’t vent, so how could he possibly give her the satisfaction?
Shiloh Sloan knew he wouldn’t sign it obediently.
"Come in."
Quentin Stone and Magnus pushed the door open and entered.
"Boss, you called for us?"
The two hulking men stood before the hospital bed, exuding an intimidating aura.
Quentin Chandler yelled, "Shiloh Sloan, this is a hospital! I’m warning you, don’t try anything stupid."
"Quincy Warner, I remember you mentioning you have a friend who prefers men and has... certain special tastes. I wonder if he’d be interested in someone like Quentin Chandler." A flash of undisguised malice crossed Shiloh Sloan’s eyes. Instantly, a chill ran down Quentin Chandler’s spine, and the hair on his body stood on end.
Quincy Warner’s gaze raked brazenly over Quentin Chandler, cold and direct, as if he were appraising a piece of merchandise for sale. After a long moment, he spoke slowly.
"He’s a bit rough around the edges, but I suppose he’s not entirely unpalatable."
Shiloh Sloan shot a seemingly careless glance at Quentin Chandler, her tone nonchalant.
"In that case, hand him over to your friend. I’m sure he’ll be given a ’special memory’ he’ll never forget for the rest of his life."
Quentin Chandler instantly panicked, screaming in a frenzy.
"How dare you! We live in a society ruled by law! This is illegal! It’s a crime! I’m calling the police right now!"
"Oh, so you *do* know we live in a society ruled by law?" Shiloh Sloan sneered, her eyes filled with mockery. "But you can’t produce a shred of evidence. Calling the police will be useless. Even if they do come, who’s going to believe the words of a social parasite with a criminal record?"
Besides, he was the one who broke into her home and tried to assault her. He was completely in the wrong, so the police would never just take his side of the story.
Quentin Chandler’s face was ashen. He couldn’t care about anything else and used all his strength to scream frantically for help from outside the room.
"Help! Murder! Someone, help..."
Magnus, who was standing to the side, immediately stepped forward and clamped a large hand tightly over his mouth. Having just had surgery, Quentin Chandler was incredibly weak and had no strength to resist. He could only struggle feebly, as grotesque as a writhing maggot.
"Boss, you weren’t joking just now, were you?" Seeing this, Quincy Warner immediately pulled out his phone and made a show of dialing.
"Mmph... mmph..."
Quentin Chandler thrashed desperately, his eyes filled with terror and despair. He wanted to speak but couldn’t get a single word out.
Shiloh Sloan quietly met his terrified gaze. Her lips slowly curved into an incredibly gentle smile, but the warmth didn’t reach her eyes, which instead held a bone-deep coldness.
"Quentin Chandler, the choice is yours. You won’t always get a second chance."
As her words fell, she gave Magnus a subtle glance, and he immediately released the hand covering Quentin Chandler’s mouth.
