My CEO Husband Says I'm Irreplaceable
Chapter 205: That Won’t Be Necessary
Chapter 205: Chapter 205: That Won’t Be Necessary
"When I went to prison, you took over my company and all my assets! You’ve been living the high life for all these years, and now it’s time to pay me back—with interest!"
Quentin Chandler stood in the courtyard, his sinister gaze sweeping over the vibrant spring scenery, his eyes filled with greed and venom. His stepdaughter, it seemed, was living a comfortable and luxurious life.
Shiloh Sloan’s expression was icy; she didn’t seem to take his threats seriously in the slightest.
"Quentin Chandler, let’s get something straight. What part of this is yours? That failing mess of a company you had was on the verge of bankruptcy. I was the one who took over, revived it bit by bit, and paid off its debts. Now, the company has my name on it. It has absolutely nothing to do with you."
"Hah, quite the sharp tongue!" Quentin Chandler sneered. "I also heard you sent your own mother to a nursing home? You really are heartless!"
"I’m her legal guardian. Deciding where she stays is my legal right." Shiloh Sloan looked up, her gaze detached to the point of being ruthless. "Quentin Chandler, don’t forget, you and my mother divorced a long time ago. My family’s affairs are none of an outsider’s business."
The implication was perfectly clear: whatever she decided had nothing to do with him.
After she’d had Quentin Chandler put away, she forced him to sign the divorce papers, then sent her incompetent mother to a nursing home.
Choked with rage, Quentin Chandler’s face flushed red, and he spat viciously.
"If you hadn’t tricked and threatened me, I never would have signed those divorce papers! I was forced to, so it doesn’t count!"
"It’s in black and white, signed and sealed. You don’t get to deny it!"
Shiloh Sloan’s voice turned sharp and cold, each word landing with resolute force.
"You’ve come here today, and you will get nothing from me. If you keep pestering me, don’t blame me for what happens next!"
"Looks like you’ve gotten bold, daring to talk to me like that!" Quentin Chandler was thoroughly enraged. A vicious light appeared in his eyes, and his tone grew even more vulgar. "You’re the reason I rotted in jail for so many years, the reason my family was ruined. Why don’t you use your body to compensate me? It’s been so long. Let’s see if you’re still as tender and smooth as you were back then!"
Filthy lust churned in his eyes. His slimy, disgusting gaze was like a viper’s tongue, licking over Shiloh Sloan’s body again and again, sending a chill through her as hatred and disgust surged in her heart.
The moment the words left his mouth, Quentin Chandler slammed the courtyard gate shut with a backhand motion, locking it with a loud CLICK. With a vicious grin, he lunged toward Shiloh Sloan.
Shiloh Sloan was prepared. She spun around with nimble agility, narrowly dodging his lunge, then raised her foot and kicked his lower back with all her might.
While Quentin Chandler staggered in pain, she quickly bent down, picked up a shovel from the ground, gripped the handle tightly, and without hesitation, swung it hard at the back of his shoulder!
The sharp edge of the shovel instantly tore through flesh. Dark red blood gushed out, spattering the ground, the corner of her clothes, and her cheek.
"AH—!"
Quentin Chandler let out a blood-curdling scream. He clutched his bleeding shoulder and whipped around to face Shiloh Sloan, his face a mask of disbelief at the sight of her vicious eyes and the cold aura she exuded.
"Are you insane? You actually dared to attack me!"
"I can get crazier. You’re welcome to find out!"
Shiloh Sloan gave a cold laugh. She raised a hand and gently wiped the droplet of blood from her cheek with her fingertip. The warm blood smeared across her fair skin, leaving a jarring Crimson Trace that added a menacing viciousness to her aura. She tightened her grip on the shovel, her presence growing even sharper.
"A few years in prison, and still a leopard can’t change its spots. Since you can’t remember the lesson, I’ll just have to crush any ideas you might have for good!"
"Y-You, stay back! What do you think you’re doing?!"
Quentin Chandler finally panicked. He couldn’t fathom how his once weak and easily bullied stepdaughter was now not only surprisingly strong but also utterly ruthless.
Shiloh Sloan’s gaze was glacial. Without a hint of hesitation, she swung the shovel at him again. Quentin Chandler dodged clumsily, screaming for help at the top of his lungs, but the courtyard was too secluded for his cries to be heard.
At this point, Shiloh Sloan was completely enraged, seeing red. A single thought dominated her mind: ’I’ll cripple this animal so he’ll never dare to have another filthy thought about me for the rest of his life!’
’This is my home. Quentin Chandler is trespassing with malicious intent. Even if this blows up, he’s the one in the wrong!’
’I’ve been practicing self-defense all this time, waiting for this very day.’
At this thought, a cold, satisfied smile touched Shiloh Sloan’s lips. To Quentin Chandler’s eyes, that smile was more terrifying than a soul-reaping demon.
Already slowed by his injured shoulder, Quentin Chandler couldn’t dodge Shiloh Sloan’s attacks at all. He took several solid hits in a row.
"AHH!!!"
A heart-rending, inhuman scream suddenly echoed through the courtyard.
Quentin Chandler clutched his crotch with both hands, his face instantly as pale as a sheet. His body curled up in agony on the ground, twitching and writhing, all of his previous arrogance gone.
Just then, a rapid, forceful knocking came from the courtyard gate, accompanied by Nolan Forrester’s extremely anxious voice.
"Shiloh! What’s happening? Open the door!"
Shiloh Sloan went rigid. Her hand, still gripping the shovel, paused as she froze for a moment. She had just taken a step to open the gate when, with a loud BANG, it was kicked open from the outside.
Nolan Forrester rushed in. His eyes fell upon the trashed courtyard, the bloodstains on the ground, and Quentin Chandler writhing in pain. When his gaze finally locked onto Shiloh Sloan, her face cold and splattered with blood, his dark pupils contracted sharply.
He crossed the distance to Shiloh Sloan in a few long strides, grabbing her by the shoulders as his eyes scanned her body.
"Where are you hurt? Tell me!"
"It’s not my blood. It’s his," Shiloh Sloan said, her expression calm and her tone detached.
"That animal dared to come and bother you again!" A cold viciousness instantly surged in Nolan Forrester’s eyes. A terrifying chill emanated from him as he turned to charge at Quentin Chandler on the ground, but Shiloh Sloan was faster, grabbing his arm and holding him back tightly.
"He didn’t lay a single finger on me. I’m the one who ruined him. From now on, he’ll never be able to be a man again." As Shiloh Sloan spoke, she let out a soft laugh tinged with satisfaction. ’What I wanted to do back then but couldn’t, I finally accomplished today.’
Nolan Forrester froze, a whirlwind of emotions swirling within him. He reached out and pulled her into a tight embrace, his voice hoarse with guilt.
"I’m sorry."
Shiloh Sloan leaned into his embrace, her eyes on Quentin Chandler, who had passed out from the pain a short distance away. At that moment, the fear and hatred that had built up inside her for years completely vanished.
’Scum like Quentin Chandler were nothing special after all.’
She gently pushed Nolan Forrester away, her tone calm and distant.
"You don’t need to apologize to me."
Pushing him away, Shiloh Sloan took out her phone and calmly called for an ambulance and then the police.
The ambulance arrived quickly. After an on-site examination, the paramedics stated that Shiloh Sloan had struck with all her might. Even with surgery and reconstructive procedures, Quentin Chandler would be completely impotent—nothing more than a shell of a man.
And that was exactly the result Shiloh Sloan had wanted.
When the police arrived, she immediately pulled up the complete surveillance footage from the courtyard and the main gate. The video clearly recorded Quentin Chandler trespassing with malicious intent; the evidence was irrefutable. Although she had injured him, Nolan Forrester had immediately hired the most prestigious legal team in the industry for her. After some negotiation, it was determined that she would only need to pay a fine and reach a settlement with the injured party to resolve the matter.
"Leave the settlement agreement to me. I guarantee I’ll make him sign it quietly and not cause any more trouble," Nolan Forrester said in a low voice. Ever since returning to the country, he had people investigate everything Shiloh Sloan had been through in Northolme over the years. He knew exactly how difficult her life had been after he left, facing the demon that was Quentin Chandler all alone.
"That’s not necessary. These are my problems; I can solve them myself," Shiloh Sloan refused flatly. "I’ve managed on my own for all these years."
How could Nolan Forrester not understand her unspoken message?
’He had left her all alone without a word back then. Now, she no longer needed his protection.’
"Shiloh, I won’t let you say things like that out of anger. Back then, I..."
Before he could finish his sentence, a car screeched to a halt by the side of the road.
