Chapter 867: Cassius’s Heated Visit
Chapter 867: Cassius’s Heated Visit
Inside his room, Cassius was spending time with a courtesan from a brothel run by the Sky Eagle Syndicate.
Cassius, the leader of the Red Dragon Syndicate, had a twisted habit of being with women whenever he felt stressed or angry, using them as a way to vent his frustrations.
In simple terms, he liked to dominate and break women. Seeing them beg and tremble under him fed his ego, and he found pleasure in power rather than affection.
He was infamous for his depraved behavior throughout the entire Lawless City — everyone knew about it. His subordinates weren’t any better, often imitating his cruelty.
Sometimes, they even forced themselves on women, committing vile acts without hesitation. With no laws here, criminals were free to indulge in the darkest corners of their desires.
“Please… My Lord! I can’t take any more…” the woman pleaded weakly, her breath unsteady and sweat covering her face. Exhaustion clouded her expression.
Her hair was a mess, makeup smeared, and her entire body shaking from lack of strength.
“You can’t even last an hour? Pathetic,” Cassius scoffed, shoving her aside with a look of pure dissatisfaction before casually buttoning up his shirt.
Knock! Knock!
Suddenly, loud knocking came from the door. Cassius turned his head sharply, irritation flickering in his eyes, then walked over and pulled the door open.
A man stood outside wearing bright red leather armor with a dragon insignia stamped across his chest.
The armored man gulped upon catching a glimpse of the woman lying on the bed, but quickly straightened up and focused on Cassius with a serious expression.
“My Lord, we’ve just learned that Lady Nyx is hosting some suspicious guests at her mansion. And she seems very pleased to receive them. Unfortunately, our spies failed to gather more details,” he reported, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
“What?! She’s entertaining mysterious guests now?!” Cassius roared, his fists clenching in fury and disbelief.
The armored man recoiled at the sudden surge of rage — fear gripping his heart as he realized the situation was far worse than he expected.
He had assumed Cassius would simply be annoyed… not burning with jealousy and hatred over a woman.
’I-Is this going to be the last day of my life??’ The armored man cried inwardly, his legs shaking uncontrollably in fear.
“That bitch! She rejected me so many times and yet… she dares to entertain someone else? Are my efforts nothing in her eyes?” Cassius muttered to himself, his voice low as the air thickened around them, filled with dread.
’This is bad!! If I don’t say something, Leader will definitely kill me to vent his frustration!!’ The armored man panicked inwardly, his heart pounding faster as he felt the anger boiling within Cassius.
Swallowing nervously, he took a deep breath to steady his emotions and looked at Cassius with a frantic expression.
After exhaling, he spoke, “M-My Lord, what should we do now? Should we head to the Green Viper Organization and confront Lady Nyx immediately?”
“Hmmm…” Cassius pondered for a moment before nodding. “Let’s give her a surprise visit and find out who this person is that she’s secretly having a relationship with.”
Some time later, around forty men arrived outside Nyx’s mansion alongside Cassius. The assassins guarding the mansion from all directions silently emerged from the shadows like ghosts.
“What is the leader of the Red Dragon Syndicate doing in the territory of the Green Viper Organization—bringing forty men, no less?” the commander of the assassins asked coldly, his voice calm yet authoritative.
“What is it to you? It’s not like I came here for you,” Cassius scoffed back, his expression frosty and his fury barely contained. “I have business with your leader. Clear the path already.”
All the assassins’ expressions darkened at his arrogance, fury simmering in their eyes. Yet, they knew they stood no chance — not even if they all fought him together. And now, with Cassius bringing his own men, resisting him was beyond impossible.
“Our leader is occupied. She is currently receiving some very important guests inside the mansion… and she has strictly forbidden us from disturbing her or allowing anyone else to disturb her,” the commander said firmly.
Taking a deep breath, he continued, “I’m afraid you’ll have to turn back from here.”
Suddenly, the air shifted — a wave of heat surged across the area, growing more intense with every passing second.
At the same time, Cassius’s expression hardened as the anger inside him began to boil after hearing the commander of the Green Viper Organization’s words.
The mere mention of Nyx entertaining guests set him aflame; his eyes turned blood-red with fury and his body trembled as he clenched his fists.
“Get. Out. Of. The. Way. Before I KILL YOU ALL!!” Cassius hissed at first, his voice low and trembling, teeth clenched in pure rage before he finally roared at the assassins blocking his path.
His men immediately drew their weapons at his shout, ready to cut down anyone who stood before them.
The assassins matched them, blades sliding from sheaths—this was their territory, and they had strict orders from their leader.
Cassius was the provocateur here; he had no right to incite violence in another’s domain. That alone could spark an all-out war between their organizations.
“Lord Cassius, you’re in our territory. This isn’t your place—so we will not follow your command. Return to your men and do not cause trouble,” the commander said calmly, showing no fear.
“Are you talking back to me?” Cassius demanded, his tone hardening as his aura flared outward.
The ground beneath his feet began to blister and melt from the intense heat radiating off him, the stone softening like wax.
“Who’s causing trouble out there? Didn’t I tell you to send people away?”
A cold voice rang from inside the mansion as the massive doors swung open, and the air grew heavy the instant they moved.
Moments later, Nyx and Emma stepped out onto the steps. Their presence drew every eye—both women casting a beauty that held the crowd spellbound.
“Leader, it’s him. Cassius is the one causing trouble here,” the commander said, bowing slightly as he pointed toward Cassius with a small, controlled grin.
Nyx turned to face Cassius, disdain clear in her expression as she scoffed, “What is this fool doing here? Why haven’t you dealt with him already?”
“Leader, we tried. He wouldn’t listen. He insisted on seeing you, and when we forced him to leave, he threatened us,” the commander replied, steady and composed.
“Is that so? Threatening my people in my own territory, huh?” Nyx chuckled coldly. “Cassius, you’ve got some guts. Are you tired of living?”
Cassius looked at Nyx and then at Emma, a shocked expression forming on his face — especially when his gaze landed on Emma, whose beauty struck his heart like a hammer.
’W-Who is this woman??’ he wondered, completely taken aback. ’She’s so…beautiful!’
Even his men couldn’t look away from Emma. Her beauty stole their senses, leaving them frozen and mesmerized.
But Emma’s expression darkened with disgust, feeling every filthy gaze crawling over her skin.
“What are you staring at? Haven’t seen a woman before?” Emma spoke with pure disdain as a hint of her cultivation pressure quietly spilled out into the air.
Immediately, Cassius and his men were forced to their knees, smashed against the ground by a sudden overwhelming force.
’W-What is this pressure?!’ Cassius gritted his teeth as agony shot through his body, his knees screaming under the crushing force.
It didn’t take long for him to realize the source of the invisible weight — his furious eyes snapped to Emma.
’She’s the one releasing this?! But how?!’
He desperately gathered his Mana, trying to resist. But no matter how much strength he exerted, he couldn’t even lift himself a single inch.
Instead, the pressure intensified — bones cracking under the immense force, blood beginning to drip down his legs.
Cassius, who prided himself on his unparalleled physical strength, was finally confronted by the bitter truth — he was nothing before true power.
Nyx stood stunned beside her daughter. She never imagined Emma could crush Cassius to his knees without even lifting a finger.
’T-This is unbelievable!! I never thought my daughter would be capable of something like this!!’ Nyx screamed inwardly, her eyes wide with shock and awe.
Emma looked at Nyx with a puzzled expression and asked, “Who are these fools, Mom? Do you know them?”
Cassius’s eyes widened in disbelief. He stared at Emma and Nyx, utterly stunned and speechless.
’Mom??She’s Nyx’s daughter?!’ he thought, dumbfounded by the revelation, unable to believe his own eyes.
Nyx shot Cassius a disdainful glance, then turned to Emma. “This bastard is Cassius—the leader of the Red Dragon Syndicate. He’s been pestering me for a very long time and refuses to relent. An utter fool, in my opinion.”
“I see…” Emma nodded, her gaze hardening as she looked at Cassius with cold fury.
After a beat of silence, Emma said, “You wouldn’t mind if I killed him, right? It’s clear you’re not on good terms.”
“Not at all, my dear,” Nyx replied with a soft chuckle. “Do as you please. I’ve tolerated him because I lacked the strength to end him. It’s different for you.”
“I’d be glad to watch him die… he’s nothing but trouble,” Nyx added, casting a look of pure disgust at Cassius and revealing a thin, satisfied smile.
’What? She wants to kill me? How arrogant!’ Cassius scoffed inwardly, convinced she couldn’t possibly do it.
Emma stepped forward, raised her hand parallel to the ground, and pricked the tip of her finger. A single drop of black liquid welled up—her blood.
This was no ordinary blood but venomous ichor; the poison within was so potent that, after her recent breakthrough, a single drop could taint an entire lake.
’What is that?’ Nyx gasped, shock overtaking her as her body trembled with a sudden, cold dread.
