My Cat Turned Beastman Won't Stop Kissing My Neck
Chapter 69: Shutting Chi Heng’s Big Mouth
The process wasn’t exactly pretty.
But the outcome was exactly what Wen Qian wanted.
Looking back at the boy following behind her with his head lowered, a faint smile graced the girl’s lips.
’Turns out, playing hard to get is the best way to deal with this tsundere.’
She thought the first thing Yin Zhi would do when they got home was sulk or rehash what had just happened to decide who was right and who was wrong... But to her surprise, he ignored Wen Qian and bolted straight for the bedroom.
Only after confirming that there were no signs of anyone other than Wen Qian having been in the bedroom yesterday did the great weight in Yin Zhi’s heart finally lift.
He let out a long breath, and the exquisitely handsome boy walked slowly back to the living room.
The redness around his eyes had faded by now, with only a hint of pink remaining on the tip of his nose.
Wen Qian: "Actually, yesterday..."
"Ugh... so sleepy." The boy cut her off heartlessly, then feigned a yawn.
Wen Qian: "?"
A flicker of confusion crossed her eyes. The next second, Yin Zhi’s gaze went past her and landed on the balcony.
It was as if he’d already forgotten what just happened.
As he passed Chi Heng, he even shot him a defiant glare.
The smugness on the boy’s face was plain to see. ’See? Even when I’m not here, this wolf still only gets to sleep on the balcony.’
Wen Qian rubbed her temples, a little speechless.
’Why does he seem so smug...’
’And also...’
’What’s he wandering around for?’
He was only gone for one night, but he was acting like he’d been gone a year.
Look at him, bumbling around and peering everywhere. Anyone who didn’t know better would think a burglar had broken in.
"You..."
Wen Qian wanted to have a serious talk with him, but who would have thought the guy would just plop down on the sofa the next second as if nothing had happened.
Not only that, but he also slung an arm around Li Jiu’s shoulders, acting like they were the best of buddies.
"Here, Jiu-Jiu, have an apple." The boy’s eyes crinkled in delight, his crossed leg bouncing slightly.
Li Jiu was startled by Yin Zhi’s actions. ’Has the Young Master lost his memory?’ he wondered.
He had clearly heard him calling him a "lousy little bird" when talking to Ling Xuan earlier...
"What’s wrong, my Jiu? Here, big bro’s treating you." He patted Li Jiu’s shoulder as he spoke.
Li Jiu gulped, taking a long moment before daring to reach for the apple in his hand. "Th-thank you..."
Now, it wasn’t just Li Jiu; even the ever-composed Chi Heng raised an eyebrow.
’Is he trying to suck up to the people around Wen Qian... to raise his favorability score?’
’He really is... quite the scheming Beastman.’
"Wait... don’t you have anything to say to me?" Wen Qian leaned in, unable to hold back any longer.
Just a moment ago he was acting like it was the end of the world, so how was he so calm and collected now?
’Besides... doesn’t he hate apples?’
’So why is he gnawing on one now...’
"Say what?" He blinked, his tail having appeared from behind him at some point. As he watched Wen Qian, it even swayed gently twice.
"About running away from home." The girl smiled, but it wasn’t a happy one.
"What running away?" The boy averted his gaze guiltily. He didn’t dare meet Wen Qian’s eyes as he spoke. "There was some unfinished business in South City, so Ling Xuan and I went to check on it..."
’He couldn’t possibly admit he regretted it the moment he stood up, could he?’
’If it weren’t for that stinky snake’s infuriatingly smug look as he watched the show, I wouldn’t have...’
Yin Zhi had originally planned to go back after Gu Mian left, but who would have expected to see Wen Qian escorting him downstairs shortly after? That just made him even angrier.
’He’s a grown man, does he need a girl to walk him downstairs? Does he not have feet?’
’Oh, right. Snakes don’t have feet.’
The boy’s eyes filled with contempt.
"Anything else? Nothing more to say?" Wen Qian raised an eyebrow, knowing he was deliberately playing dumb.
His expression froze for a second, then he shook his head frantically.
He almost couldn’t even come home; how would he dare bring up anything else?
"Oh, fine then." Seeing that he wasn’t going to say anything, Wen Qian couldn’t be bothered to ask anymore. Still, she warned him in a low voice, "This is the last time... If you run away from home again, I’m changing the locks."
"I already told you, I didn’t run away from home..." the boy mumbled, turning his head away.
Thinking about how Wen Qian had almost kicked him out on the street just now, he suddenly felt wronged again. Never one to hide his emotions, he immediately stretched out his arms. "Qianqian, hug."
Looking at the tall, handsome man before her, Wen Qian couldn’t stop herself from taking a step forward, but she froze just as her hands were about to touch him.
’Don’t fall for it, Wen Qian! This is a honey trap!’
But how could Yin Zhi give her a chance to refuse? A triumphant smirk played on his lips as his tail hooked around her calf, pulling her straight into his embrace.
"You..." Wen Qian’s face flushed red, forced against the man’s chest.
Seeing this "intimate" scene, Li Jiu was so frightened he leaped off the sofa. He ran to the balcony as fast as he could, clamping his hands tightly over his eyes.
Chi Heng, on the other hand, calmly straightened up and walked with steady steps to the front of the sofa.
Then, he let out an extremely loud wolf howl at the two of them...
"Hey, hey, hey, don’t... stop howling!" Scrambling out of Yin Zhi’s arms, Wen Qian rushed to cover Chi Heng’s mouth.
This time, it took her a long while to successfully clamp Chi Heng’s mouth shut...
Gu Mian arrived just after Wen Qian and the others had finished dinner.
Hearing the sound, Yin Zhi immediately shot Wen Qian a resentful look.
The next second, the doorbell rang.
The resentment in the boy’s eyes instantly turned to forbearance, accompanied by a cold snort.
’Great, another blockbuster drama between fire and water.’
"Qianqian, how about we don’t open the door for him..." He tugged pitifully at the girl’s sleeve, rubbing his cheek gently against her arm and deliberately revealing his ears.
Wen Qian couldn’t resist and gave his ears a couple of rubs. But her rational side took over. "Okay, then you go open it."
"?" The boy’s expression froze.
Beside them, Chi Heng looked up, gloating, and shot him a taunting look.
"Are you going, or am I?" She pulled her arm free and gave the tip of his ear a pinch with her other hand.
His face instantly flushed crimson. The man shot to his feet. "Me!"
When Gu Mian came in, the red on Yin Zhi’s face hadn’t completely faded. He lifted his eyelids, and though his face was expressionless, the corners of his mouth were turned down.
Walking past him without a change in expression, the man handed the strawberry milk tea in his hand to Wen Qian. "I heard it’s pretty good."
"Wow, thank you, A Mian!" Wen Qian’s eyes lit up. She had seen it on social media; it was the most popular internet-famous milk tea at the moment.
"It’s just a cup of milk tea, what’s so great about it..." Yin Zhi’s mouth drooped, clearly unconvinced. Then, as if remembering something, he asked, "Qianqian, tell me, my cake is better than his milk tea, right?"
"Don’t be so ridiculous..." Wen Qian fought the urge to roll her eyes. ’He’s such a big tiger, why can’t he get along with Gu Mian?’ she thought.
