My Cat Turned Beastman Won't Stop Kissing My Neck
Chapter 68: What Happened to Being True to Your Word?
Meanwhile...
Not far from Wen Qian’s apartment building.
Two men stood facing each other. Though both wore ordinary sportswear, one of them exuded an incredibly powerful presence.
He had a handsome face and a tall, straight posture. A baseball cap pressed down tightly on his silver hair, but it couldn’t conceal his noble air.
"Young Master, are you really not going back?" Ling Xuan asked tentatively.
"I’m not," the man said, his expression darkening. His voice was exceedingly cold.
Ling Xuan said, "Are you sure...?"
"My Silver Tiger Clan always keeps its word." The man lifted his chin slightly. Then he added in a cold voice, "She already yelled at me for another Beastman. Why would I go back?"
Ling Xuan was about to offer some comfort when he suddenly felt that something was off.
He paused, then asked tentatively, "So you’re going to let someone else have her?"
"Bullshit!"
"..."
’Wait, didn’t he say he wasn’t going back?’
Ling Xuan was about to say something else when he suddenly spotted two familiar figures. His expression froze, and his first instinct was to run.
His clothes were grabbed from behind. Yin Zhi’s voice held a note of confusion. "Where are you going?"
Ling Xuan started, "Wen—"
"What is it? If you have something to say, spit it out." The man let him go, a flash of irritation in his eyes.
"N-no, it’s not that..." Ling Xuan swallowed hard.
Ling Xuan blurted out, "It’s Wen Qian! She’s here!"
The moment the words left his mouth, the man froze. The next second, he lifted his chin slightly, an arrogant look on his face. "I knew it. She came looking for me."
He’d deliberately let Li Jiu see him for this very reason.
’He had planned to stage a chance encounter downstairs, but then he’d looked up and run right into that wolf. In a fit of anger, he’d run off again.’
Seeing his confident expression, a flicker of hesitation crossed Ling Xuan’s eyes. "Maybe you should take another—"
"No need. Not unless she comes and begs me," the man snorted.
"No, that’s not it. I wanted you to take another look..." Ling Xuan silently took a step back.
Ling Xuan added, "The ghost-fire kid is here too."
"?"
The smile on his face froze instantly.
The man shifted his gaze and, sure enough, spotted a gray-and-white figure not far away.
’Chi Heng hasn’t left?!’
’And she’s parading him around in public!’
’She’s never even taken me for a walk around the complex!’
"Wait— Young Master, don’t get worked up!" Ling Xuan grabbed Yin Zhi’s arm desperately, a look of despair on his face.
’What happened to the Silver Tiger Clan always keeping its word?!’
’What happened to not going back?!’
’What happened to waiting for her to come and coax you?!’
’Seriously, it’s only been a few minutes...’
"Get off! I’m going to tear him apart today!" Shaking Ling Xuan off forcefully, Yin Zhi charged forward.
However, the young man’s steps gradually slowed when he was ten meters from Wen Qian...
At five meters, they grew slower still...
And at two meters, he couldn’t help but look back for Ling Xuan... only to find he had already vanished without a trace.
Yin Zhi’s heart sank. He was hesitating, wondering how to smooth over the whole ’running away from home’ incident and greet Wen Qian as if nothing had happened, when...
He looked up to see Wen Qian and the wolf walking right past him.
’Wait... did I unlock some kind of invisibility skill?’
His expression stiffened for a moment. He instinctively looked down at his own hands. Yin Zhi was dumbfounded. ’I can see them!’
’So why does she look like... she doesn’t see me at all?’
He jogged a few steps to get in front of Wen Qian, then pretended to walk past her casually.
He repeated this several times, but she remained calm, her gaze fixed on the many withered flowers and plants around them.
’Could it be...’
In disbelief, Yin Zhi grabbed Wen Qian’s wrist, ignoring the Wolf Beast baring its fangs behind her.
"You can’t see me?" he asked, eyes wide as he pointed at himself.
Lifting her eyelids, Wen Qian replied in her pleasant voice, "I can see you."
"Then why didn’t you talk to me?" he demanded, a look of shock on his face.
Wen Qian replied, "You didn’t talk to me, either..."
’He was the one who came running back only to sneak away again. He was also the one who said he didn’t like this home. So why... is he getting all worked up now?’
"I..." Yin Zhi opened his mouth, then realized that Wen Qian had a point.
After a long moment, as if having made some sort of decision, he pointed at Chi Heng. "You’ve never walked with me like this!"
The disbelief in Wen Qian’s eyes was practically overflowing.
’He’s just trying to pick a fight, isn’t he...’
’On Blue Star, his beast form was just like a cat’s. When did he ever need her to take him for a walk!’
’He ran off to play outside all the time. It’s not like she didn’t know.’
’Besides, how many people actually walk their cats?’
"You’re speechless, aren’t you... I see, you just like him!" Yin Zhi snarled through gritted teeth.
At that, Chi Heng stopped baring his teeth. Instead, he obediently lay down next to Wen Qian, his fluffy tail wagging twice.
"Look at him, gloating..." The young man’s eyes started to redden again.
"No, weren’t you the one who said you didn’t like it here..." Wen Qian rubbed her temples. She tried to reason with him in a calm, gentle voice, "You’re the one who suddenly ran away from home. I even looked for you yesterday."
Yin Zhi: "So?"
"So can you please stop picking on him..." Wen Qian’s gaze fell on Chi Heng.
Chi Heng hadn’t said a single word this whole time.
"You... It was one thing for you to defend Gu Mian, but now you’re defending him too?" The young man’s pupils trembled. ’Even if you go by chronological order, I was here before Chi Heng!’
"I’m not defending anyone," Wen Qian said with a frown. ’There’s usually no one around in the afternoon, but her squabbling with a man in the middle of the complex was bound to attract attention sooner or later.’
Worried that things would escalate if they kept arguing, Wen Qian quickened her pace of speech. "Why don’t you head back first?"
"Are you trying to kick me out..." The young man’s eyes grew redder, glistening with a crystalline light. He looked like a puppy abandoned by its owner.
"I’m not..." Wen Qian started to say, but then she saw him raise a hand and wipe at his eyes with its back. Now Wen Qian was panicking. "No, don’t—"
"It’s bad enough that you yelled at me, you didn’t even come looking for me, and now you’re trying to kick me out for a wolf..." the young man said with red eyes, clearly having never been wronged like this before.
"I’m not kicking you out. Can we please go back and talk..." ’Her original plan had been to use Chi Heng to lure Yin Zhi out, playing hard to get in order to lead him back home.’
’She hadn’t expected to mess it up...’
’She’d gone and... made him cry from anger?’
"Can you please stop crying first, okay?" Wen Qian was at a loss.
"Who’s crying?" the man glared at her, but his damp eyes held absolutely no menace. He’d only been gone a day, and a wolf had already taken his place.
’If he were gone for one more day, would she forget he even existed?’
"Okay, okay, you’re not crying. Let’s go home first, we can talk at home..." Wen Qian’s head was buzzing. She glanced back and tried to signal Chi Heng with her eyes, telling him to go wait at the apartment building first.
But the other party didn’t seem to understand her meaning. Instead, he rubbed his tail against her calf.
Wen Qian despaired.
"I want to talk about it right here..." the young man said, sniffling.
Clenching her fists, Wen Qian forced a smile. "Fine, then I’m going back."
However, she hadn’t taken two steps before the young man rushed over and hugged her from behind. "Then I’ll go back too..."
