To this day, he still remembers how furious she was after hearing his request, cursing him for being shameless... The scene from back then is still deeply engraved in his mind: her slightly chubby little face, gritting her teeth in anger, how adorable she looked.

From that moment on, he decided he must marry her. And that thought had never changed since.

If you were to say that at the beginning he secretly helped her out of gratitude for saving his life, because in his eyes, she was an angelic girl he wanted to protect.

But ever since that summer afternoon, his feelings for her became those of a man’s love for a woman!

Noah Drexler’s thoughts gradually drifted far away, and only after a long while did he slowly return from his memories, instinctively turning his gaze to the woman beside him.

At this moment, the little woman who was just reclining on the bed with a smug look was now lying quietly with her eyes closed, deeply asleep leaning against the pillow.

Looking at her sleeping face, his eyes moved slightly.

"Silly girl..." over the years, she seemed to have changed a lot, yet not changed at all.

A hint of indulgence flashed in the man’s eyes, and his deep voice was filled with an endless pampering affection.

He lowered his head to kiss her forehead, then leaned down to tuck her in.

...

In the early hours of the morning.

Summer Shawcross, fast asleep, was awakened by the sound of pouring rain.

In the dark, she half-opened her eyes, turned on the lamp, and glanced at the curtains billowing from the wind outside, looking a bit surprised.

Why is it raining all of a sudden...

Just as she was about to lift the covers and get up to close the window, she noticed that the spot next to her was empty.

She froze for a moment, instinctively turned to look toward the bathroom, but the bathroom door was closed without any lights inside.

She was somewhat perplexed, reaching out to touch the pillow and sheets next to her, yet there was no leftover warmth. She couldn’t help but be a bit astonished.

Noah Drexler was not in the room.

Had he not slept at all or had he left very early?

Summer turned her head to check the time on the bedside clock.

It was already two o’clock in the morning, where had Noah Drexler gone if he wasn’t resting in the bedroom?

Thinking of this, Summer hurriedly got out of bed, closed the bedroom windows, and after putting on a thin coat, she left the bedroom.

As Summer went downstairs, two housemaids were still on duty on the first floor.

When they saw her suddenly come down, they were surprised and quickly walked over.

"Ma’am?"

Summer, upon reaching downstairs, looked around the first-floor hall.

"Where’s Noah Drexler, have you seen him?" Summer asked the maids with concern.

Hearing Summer’s words, the maids looked even more surprised, perplexed as they asked her back.

"Isn’t sir upstairs?"

"Didn’t you see him go out?" Upon hearing the maids’ words, Summer’s face changed, suddenly filled with a hint of nervousness.

The maids shook their heads and politely replied.

"Ma’am, we came on shift at one o’clock and indeed did not see sir come downstairs."

Hearing what the maids said, Summer was slightly bewildered, meaning Noah Drexler had left before one in the morning?

Why would he suddenly go out so late, was it for something at the company?
