Chapter 821: Chapter 807: Justice Intervenes

On a stretch of Fungal Mat just outside the Slime disaster zone south of Oath City, Magic Power converged and a Teleportation Array surfaced.

Four boxes sliced open by space were teleported over, and the items inside poured out through the rents with a clattering "hua la la," scattering all over the ground.

Many of the items within were destroyed during Teleportation, but a small number luckily survived.

The Pukis waiting at the side immediately rushed forward to rummage through them, and soon found what they needed—several Memory Crystals, a bright red cloak, and a fresh vocal cord.

One Puki stuffed all these things into its belly, then dove into the underground tunnel nearby, drilling toward Oath City.

This tunnel would dive all the way down into the depths of the earth, and only after reaching directly beneath Oath City would it spiral upward again; all of this was a helpless measure to avoid Slime harassment.

...

In Oath City, the massive Abyss Beast once again pressed in on the outer city walls.

Somewhere within the city, silver light shot into the sky, arrows like stars falling down.

Atop a tall tower, runes flared; with a flick of Number Ten’s tentacle, a massive thunderbolt crashed down head-on.

Darean stood on the back of the Abyss Beast, controlling a towering blood tide to sweep both attacks into it.

The blood tide exploded, and a vast amount of blood that had completely lost its life force turned into a torrential blood rain, falling over the battlefield; the entire blood tide shrank a little, but in the end it still blocked the attack.

"Damn."

Realizing it was hard to break through head-on, Sofia moved swiftly through the city, intending to find a better position for a sneak attack.

Number Ten, meanwhile, once again activated the Magic Tower, drawing Magic Power from the entire city and unleashing attacks to obstruct the Abyss Beast’s advance.

In this battle, Number Ten was actually fighting quite suffocated.

What it excelled at was drowning the enemy in a short time with a massive barrage of Magic, but that required enormous Magic Power support.

The Fungal Mat within Oath City was cut off by the Slimes, with only a few tunnels preserved; the Pukis feeding off the Fungal Mat’s Magic Power inside the city couldn’t even make up for their own losses, let alone allow it to squander like that.

As for these Magic Towers, thanks to their connection to the new defensive line, while not on par with a complete Fungal Mat, they did indeed possess ample Magic Power.

However, when these Magic Towers were designed, they clearly hadn’t considered a high-frequency caster like Number Ten; the runes on them could only boost a single Spell, one volley after another.

Even if Number Ten pushed them to the limit, it was just a slightly faster-firing cannon platform, and it didn’t have a better option.

Because of these constraints, Number Ten had even died once in the previous fighting.

Fortunately, unlike other members of the Mushroom Race who were extremely reliant on Attributes and a large number of Skills, it only needed a basic Mage Skill template to exert eighty percent of its combat strength, so its resurrection was extremely fast.

Levi, who had risked half his life and, under the cover of the army and Darean, finally managed to kill Number Ten, nearly had a mental breakdown when he saw Number Ten reappear on the battlefield after being gone for only a single day.

But this still couldn’t hide Oath City’s current decline.

Alama had withdrawn from the field with serious injuries; Lorenzo, even with the city’s defensive support, was barely managing to drag out a now much stronger Sigmund, and was still in constant peril.

On the front line, Darean was vividly demonstrating the trait that "the longer a battle drags on, the stronger the Blood Race becomes."

Watching the Abyss Beast, wreathed in the towering blood tide, cross over the outer city walls and keep pressing toward Number Ten’s tower, Sofia, who had run to the other side of Oath City, came to a halt.

The reason she had retreated this far wasn’t fear, but that this distance lay beyond Darean’s perception range; only attacks loosed from here had a chance to wound him.

Sofia raised her Longbow, but this time she did not condense a Magic Power arrow; instead, she drew from the Arrow Quiver on her back one of the last two remaining golden arrows.

Back in the Battle of Chis, she had used this kind of specially-made arrow to blow apart the head of a fused Giant Dragon with a single shot.

To deal with a Blood Race Prince like Darean, ordinary Magic Power arrows were not enough.

In truth, this was not the best timing to use these golden arrows; this shot was highly unlikely to kill him in one hit.

And once the grass was startled and the snake alarmed, it would be even harder for the next Golden Arrow to land a surprise attack.

However, given the current situation, even if she could only wound Darean and force him to retreat, this was the only choice.

Sofia plucked out her eyeball and tossed it into the sky; the golden arrow was set to the bowstring, and her gaze fell upon Darean, who had yet to sense any of this.

Just as Sofia was about to loose the shot—

"Jie jie... hahahahaha!" A mature and pleasant laugh echoed through the entire Oath City.

Accompanying the laughter, a tiny red dot slowly rose from the center of the city.

The tiny red dot in others’ eyes was clearly visible to Sofia; it was a Puki being lifted up by a whirlwind, draped in a bright red cloak.

"Mushroom Lord?"

Although she knew this couldn’t be the Mushroom Lord’s true body, Sofia still saw [Subordinate Control] on this Puki’s panel, which meant that Mushroom Lord had finally sent support.

But... just one Puki?

And the voice has changed again...

Just as Sofia was puzzled, a loud shout came from inside the distant Puki’s belly:

"Heaven-and-Earth Manifestation!"

A massive projection Spell magnified Marshal Puki’s heroic posture countless times, towering up to the sky and down to the earth, the sense of oppression ten—

The sense of oppression was actually insufficient, because it was only a round, chubby Puki enlarged countless times; Projection, this kind of Low Tier Magic, wasn’t hard to recognize for anyone with a bit of Magic knowledge.

Within the Empire’s ranks, some people even looked at this giant Puki’s shape and laughed disdainfully, thinking the humans had run out of tricks and were trying to scare them with such a ridiculous little stunt.

Yet in the next moment, Mushroom Might swept across the field!

Officers with some strength were still fine; since their Attributes surpassed Puki’s, they only felt a slightly oppressive atmosphere.

But those ordinary soldiers, whether of the Demon Race or human, had their Attributes brutally cut down by a huge chunk; combined with the pressure of Dragon Mighty, for a time they simply couldn’t continue fighting, and the entire battlefield quieted considerably.

Everyone couldn’t help but look toward that gigantic Marshal Puki projection.

Seeing that his carefully designed entrance had successfully cowed the masses, Marshal Puki raised his mushroom cap ever so slightly, then spread out his four tentacles and spoke again to the Empire:

"Since you have seen the Mushroom Lord, why do you not bow?"

"Playing at gods and ghosts." Darean waved his hand, condensing a row of Blood Arrows and firing them at Marshal Puki.

However, the Blood Arrows were swallowed by a massive Fireball halfway through their flight.

On the distant Magic Tower, Number Ten had already gathered power, ready to unleash the next wave of Magic, absolutely not allowing anyone to disturb the Mushroom Lord’s epiphany.

On the other side, in the face of Darean’s attack, Marshal Puki lightly shook his mushroom cap: "Do not be obsessed and refuse to wake up."

As he spoke, a Memory Crystal was rolled up and activated by Marshal Puki, and the image within was likewise projected up into the sky!

Countless Imperial Soldiers widened their eyes; in the projection, they saw a familiar place.

In the image, Muling Castle stood beneath the moonlight, just as it had through countless years past.

Only, those moving beneath Muling Castle were no longer the Empire’s Demon Race.

Fungus Castle soldiers in Symbiosis with Mycelium, leading packs of Pukis, were escorting batch after batch of bedraggled Imperial Soldiers.

"Mu... Muling Castle has been breached?" A Demon Race soldier muttered in disbelief.

After all, that was the Capital where the Empire had stood for hundreds of years; something like sudden fall was simply unimaginable to ordinary Demon Race folk.

On the field, the Empire’s officers and upper echelon didn’t show overly失态 expressions; after all, the consequence of sending out the main force in full was something they had more or less anticipated.

But when the projected image shifted, they could no longer maintain their blank faces.

In the new scene, all the Demon Race in Muling Castle, whether soldiers or civilians, had been bound and gathered together.

Some were weeping, some cursing, some begging for mercy, yet none could resist.

Louisa slowly paced into one corner of the image; with a light lift of her hand, a group of captives were dragged to the front by a few Fungus Castle soldiers wielding large blades and wearing ferocious expressions.

Louisa casually used a sharp fingernail to slice open the face of a luxuriously dressed, sobbing Enchanting Demon girl, then took the fresh blood into her mouth.

After that, she looked toward the Memory Crystal, scarlet light flickering in her eyes.

"All of you from the Empire—your families, your friends, your brothers, your lovers... are in my hands. You have already lost. Surrendering now is your only choice."

"Oh, and don’t think you’re safe just because your home isn’t in Muling Castle," Louisa went on, and a few more images popped up, showing the First Mushroom and Second Mushroom forces continuing their advance after splitting, as well as the Tree Man–Puki army that had set out from the Elf Forest, crossed the Corruption Lake, and likewise entered the Empire’s territory. "Muling Castle is only the first step. The fall of the entire Empire is only a matter of time. Your relatives and friends have nowhere to run."

In the end, Louisa revealed a sincere and merciful smile: "The Mushroom Lord is compassionate and dislikes slaughter. I hope you... will not persist in your delusions."

The projection cut off, and the entire Oath City battlefield fell utterly silent.
