Mushroom Lord in the Underground City
Chapter 820 - 806: Blood Prison Ambush
Chapter 820: Chapter 806: Blood Prison Ambush
In a town in the eastern part of the United Kingdom, it was targeted by a small massacre unit from the Empire. However, unlike other destroyed places, the people here were slightly luckier.
Outside the town, on the open ground, the Demon Race’s corpses lay strewn haphazardly, their blood seeped into the soil, dyeing the entire area dark.
The elves walked among the pile of corpses, occasionally bending down to stab a short sword into a body that was still twitching weakly.
The elderly town chief stood in front of a handsome elf, too choked with emotion to speak, "Sir, thanks to you... If you hadn’t arrived in time, our town would also..."
As he spoke, the town chief ordered people to bring out the town’s resources, but the elf opposite him refused.
Salian simply asked about the frequency of nearby Demon Race activities to assess the current situation.
He then mounted the Earth Bear named Douding, lent by his sister, and led the main team away with the Forest Patrol commander Eco.
Seeing Salian catching up, Eco, bearing the No. 1, asked, "Resolved? No surprises, right?"
Salian shook his head, "No, it’s just a very ordinary small team. Judging from the humans’ descriptions along the way, there probably isn’t a major Imperial force nearby. The main forces are likely besieging Oath City now."
"Oath City..." Eco nodded, agreeing with Salian’s judgment.
The elves were involved in the layout of the United Kingdom’s new defense line, so they naturally knew the importance of Oath City to humans now.
If Oath City falls, humans certainly won’t have the ability to build a second large-scale defense line.
"Since there is no major Imperial army nearby, let’s move a bit faster."
Following Eco’s order, the Forest Patrol increased their pace to support Oath City, completing eating and drinking on the backs of moose, except for necessary sleep.
However, the trade-off was that the elves’ scouting range was shortened.
As they got closer to Oath City, the terrain once covered with Fungal Mats and mushrooms gradually vanished, replaced by complete desolation and groups of Slimes.
To cut off the connection of the Fungal Mats, the Empire deployed a large number of Slimes outside Oath City, among which were many fusion types modified by the Demon King, with strength far beyond ordinary Slimes.
They devoured the surface Fungal Mats completely and continued a prolonged tug-of-war with Puki in the underground network.
If the surface was the battlefield between humans and the Demon Race, then the underground was the battlefield between Slimes and Puki, its intensity was no weaker than the surface, and even more brutal, with the losers unable to leave even bones behind.
What the elves saw were merely some unmanaged wandering Slimes.
The key point is, Slimes aren’t just digesting the Fungal Mats.
Flowers, trees, and even some exposed minerals—everything digestible was cleaned out by the Slimes.
Compared to the barren land caused by Slimes, even the so-called life exclusion zone of the Northern Territory is more vibrant than it.
Slimes, even the modified fusion version, couldn’t possibly impede an elf army.
However, after leaving the Fungal Mats, No. 1 noticeably wilted.
As they were about to enter a mountain valley, Eco, out of caution, was about to order a slowdown, when No. 1’s two short legs abruptly kicked his head.
Following the tendrils, a figure inexplicably appeared between the mountain valleys opposite them.
"An ambush?" Eco frowned; they hadn’t even entered the valley yet.
Riding the moose, he separated from his subordinates and approached independently.
The person blocking the way was dressed in a pure white tailcoat with gloves and a mask, wrapping themselves tightly.
Regardless of any skills, Eco felt the aura of a strong person from his body.
"Who are you..."
Before Eco could finish asking, No. 1’s voice came from within the Fungal Network.
"It should be the Slime Demon King, dressed exactly as described by the Mushroom Lord!" No. 1 directly suggested, "Let’s pretend to greet and then order the Forest Patrol to ambush and shoot it dead!"
"Demon King!" Eco widened his eyes, placing a hand on the curved saber at his waist, staring intently at the white figure.
And what’s more astonishing, in the next moment, a completely unfamiliar voice appeared within the Fungal Network.
"Obviously I’m a Slime Man, can’t you call me by my race’s name?"
"The Mushroom Lord said, the Demon King is an evil Slime, what Slime Man..." No. 1 paused halfway, jolting the mushroom body and startled, pointing at the Demon King: "You... how are you also in the Fungal Network?"
"The communication capability of the Fungal Network is essentially a form of Telepathy, merely the mycelium on you groups you into a similar magic power frequency, forming this wide-area telepathic network. And I, as long as I can simulate the same magic power fluctuation..." The Demon King removed a glove, revealing a transparent finger, the fingertip continuously emitting a very weak magic power fluctuation, "Once the essence of the Fungal Network is understood, this isn’t difficult."
"So what if you can hear? Don’t think I don’t know, you were severely injured by the Mushroom Lord, your strength is less than thirty percent, can you defeat us without your subordinates?"
Saying this, No. 1 jumped from the top, launching a sharp blade from its tendrils, assuming a battle stance.
Eco also drew his saber.
In the rear, under Salian’s direction, the Forest Patrol bent their bows, aiming at the Demon King’s figure.
Eco stared at the Demon King, asking sternly, "What’s your plan? Even if it’s a trap, shouldn’t it be triggered when we’re deep in the valley?"
The Demon King shook his head, "That would be too obvious, right at the entrance is fine, after talking so long, it’s just about time."
"What?!
Instantly, the ground shook, blood columns shot into the sky around the Forest Patrol, branching and linking, finally merging into a huge blood prison, trapping them.
"Such a large range?" Eco slashed a blood column, but the prison quickly dispersed the damage Eco caused to the surroundings, recovering instantly, "This is... Blood Misfortune?"
"Precisely speaking, it’s all the blood stored in the Blood Misfortune as samples over hundreds of years." The Demon King put the now empty divine artifact into his jelly-like body and turned to leave, "Elves, until we meet again."
"Fire the arrows!"
Eco led the Forest Patrol in attacking the blood prison repeatedly, not that it was useless, but only consuming tiny amounts of the blood within.
With this pace, by the time they break the prison, Oath City over there might...
No. 1 twirled its mushroom cap, grasping the situation.
Then decisively rushed toward the edge of the blood prison, simultaneously greeting Eco: "Little Eco, I’ll go report!"
Boom—!
No. 1’s Self-Destruction blasted through many blood threads, but they were quickly repaired by the circulating blood.
...
On the other side, Heroic Sophia, Duke Lorenzo, and others were relying on the Magic Tower, struggling to resist alongside Darean, Levi, Sigmund, and the Empire’s army when Number Ten suddenly paused.
Sophia drew her bow, shooting down two flying Blood Martial weapons, quickly asking, "What’s wrong?"
Sophia had to be concerned about Number Ten, this seemingly ordinary Puki on the panel among the Mushroom Race was currently an extremely important combat force, if there’s an accident, the remaining node towers would be in danger.
Fortunately, Number Ten soon returned to normal, waving a tendril to release a fireball, turning several blood arrows to ash, and replying via telepathy:
"Nothing much, only Lorenzo’s previously mentioned elf reinforcements probably won’t make it, and the Demon King is coming."
Nearby, Lorenzo, shielding himself with a magic shield from an attack, interjected bitterly: "Is there no good news?"
"Muling Castle has just been breached, does that count?"
