Chapter 1814: Chapter 1814: The Number One Playboy Isn’t Just a Name

"That despicable little man, if I’d known it would turn out like this, I shouldn’t have let him off so easily last time." Mentioning Long Wudang, Sikong Qinglan grew even more resentful.

The last time they’d seen Long Wudang and Zhuge Qiu seriously injured by Xiang Qiuzhan, they hadn’t made things harder for them. The two had sensibly handed over some money, and they’d let them go. Who knew they still wouldn’t give up.

"Looks like the lesson I gave him wasn’t enough. Next time he falls into my hands, he’s dead meat. And that Long Wucuo—I’ll make him pay sooner or later." Mu Hanyan snorted coldly.

To actually dare scheme against her—did they think the title of Anyun’s Number One Playboy was just for show?

Ling Baobao’s eyes lit up. Based on what he knew of the First Playboy Young Miss of Anyun, someone was about to be out of luck again. Ah, he still preferred Mu Hanyan in her playboy mode.

"My lady, that guy is already a Prayer Priest, you can’t deal with him the same way you did Long Wudang." Shen Yuhe, having gotten a rough grasp of Mu Hanyan’s temperament, reminded her in a low voice.

This Master Priest’s temper was nothing like the gentle and modest appearance she showed. Once angered, she’d dare to beat up anyone. Long Wudang and Ou Mingzhi were the best examples. But Long Wucuo was different from those two. Those two had decent strength and family background, and Ou Mingzhi was even the pre-appointed successor of the Lingyu Divine Hall, but they hadn’t taken up any Divine Position. Beating them up was just beating them up; at most it counted as a private dispute. Even if someone wanted to stick up for them, they could only do it in private and couldn’t make too big a fuss.

But Long Wucuo had already become the Heavenly Sun Temple’s Prayer Priest. Using underhanded means on him was one thing, but if they publicly beat him black and blue in front of everyone, that would be openly making an enemy of the Heavenly Sun Temple. With Huayu Temple’s current strength, there was no way they could confront the Heavenly Sun Temple head-on. And if such a big incident blew up, the Life God Temple and even the Main Temple might step in. Everyone knew Huayu Temple wasn’t favored by the Divine Lord; who would dare speak up for them? In the end, they’d definitely be the ones to suffer.

"Relax, I won’t act rashly." Mu Hanyan nodded. Even without Shen Yuhe’s reminder, she could figure out the pros and cons. She naturally wouldn’t clean up Long Wucuo in an open and aboveboard way.

"Another Prayer Priest. Sure enough, there’s not a single good person among those God-hopping guys." Ling Baobao muttered under his breath, earning another helpless eye-roll from Sikong Qinglan.

Turned away by Long Wucuo at the door, they obviously couldn’t sleep on the streets, so they had no choice but to find an inn first and talk later.

"Waiter, rooms!" As they walked into an inn, Ling Baobao shouted loudly.

"I’m really sorry, my lords, all the rooms are full. Please try somewhere else." A waiter came up with a face full of smiles and polite words.

"Full again?" Ling Baobao was slightly stunned.

"Yes, the sacrificial ceremony is a once-in-a-century grand event for our Tianyang City. Not only have Priests from all the temples come, but plenty of people from the major Priest Families have come as well. The rooms have been full for a long time. I must ask you honored guests to forgive us and look for another inn." The waiter explained.

Mu Hanyan and the others all frowned. They’d already gone to more than a dozen inns, and every one of them was full, all with the same excuse. But considering this sacrificial ceremony was tied to that legendary Heaven and Earth Treasures that only appeared once in a million years, it did make sense. Ordinary commoners didn’t know the inside story, but Priests of the various temples and the Priest Families from all the cities more or less knew something and had all come to join the fun—it was understandable.

"Let’s go, we’ll try another one." Seeing the sky grow darker, Mu Hanyan didn’t want to waste time. Tianyang City was so big; she refused to believe there wasn’t a single place they could stay.

"Of all the people to offend, they actually offended a Prayer Priest. Don’t they know the status of the Long Family in Tianyang City? If they can find a free room, that’d be the real miracle." Watching them walk out the door, the waiter couldn’t help muttering under his breath.

In business, who ever drives away paying guests? All the more so when the other side were Priests. If he hadn’t received orders beforehand, he’d never have wanted to do this. To be honest, he had his own grievances too.

His voice wasn’t loud, but he’d forgotten the other side were Priests; their hearing and sight were far sharper than ordinary folk.

"Hm?" Mu Hanyan and the others turned around at the same time, their gazes landing on the waiter.

"I didn’t say anything. It’s none of my business, none of my business, my lords." The waiter’s face went deathly pale with fright. He wished he could slap himself a few times. How could he forget who these people were? How could he not keep that rotten mouth of his in check?

His legs went weak and he dropped to his knees. He couldn’t afford to offend the Long Family, but he equally couldn’t afford to offend the few in front of him. Others might not be able to do much to Long Wucuo, but dealing with an ordinary commoner like him would be a piece of cake.

"Forget it, don’t make things hard on him." Mu Hanyan wasn’t about to vent her anger on a mere commoner. Besides, she understood the other side really had no choice. She led the others out of the inn.

No one needed to say it; they all knew what was going on. Long Wucuo was clearly trying to completely humiliate them, not giving them any foothold in Tianyang City at all.

"How about we stay at my grandfather’s place for a few days?" After a moment of silence, Shen Yuhe spoke.

"Why didn’t you say that earlier?" Sikong Qinglan looked at Shen Yuhe reproachfully.

In fact, he should have thought of it when Shen Yuhe brought up her mother’s family background, but at the time he’d been grinding his teeth in hatred at Long Wucuo and hadn’t thought much about anything else.

"Would it be inconvenient?" Mu Hanyan had actually already thought of it. But since Shen Yuhe hadn’t brought it up on her own, she’d guessed there must be a reason and so hadn’t mentioned it either.

"It’s not exactly inconvenient. My grandfather has always treated my mother very well and is very fond of me. But his health has been getting worse by the year, and the family affairs have all been handed over to my second aunt to manage. She’s never gotten along with my mother and doesn’t like me much either, so I didn’t want to trouble him." Shen Yuhe explained.

"Then forget it, we’ll think of something else." Mu Hanyan had long grown used to the petty scheming within big families and didn’t want to put Shen Yuhe on the spot.

"It’s fine. I haven’t been back in over ten years, and it’s rare that I’ve come back now. We’re only staying a few days anyway, and we’re still family. I don’t think she’d go too far. Besides, I should go see my grandfather." Shen Yuhe said.

"All right, then we’ll impose on your grandfather for a few days." Mu Hanyan said.

She really couldn’t think of a better idea either. They couldn’t exactly pitch tents outside the city and then come back in when the sacrificial ceremony officially began. If that got out, Huayu Temple’s face would be completely lost.

Mu Tu drove the carriage towards the Gu family under Shen Yuhe’s directions. Sitting in the carriage, Wen Gaoren looked a bit desolate. With his former reputation, he’d had countless people in Tianyang City begging to invite him as a guest. To have him stay with them for a few days was a tremendous honor. But now Duan Cheng’an had betrayed their sect, the ancestral Array Formation Technique had fallen into the hands of the Ou Family, and Lingyu Divine Hall had reached an agreement with the other Eleven Divine Temples. Naturally, no one dared take him in anymore.

...

"Lord Long, thank you for what you did just now." In the Heavenly Sun Temple, a young Priest with a sinister gaze spoke to Long Wucuo. It was none other than Ou Mingzhi.
