"Either you divorce him and walk away with a pathetic little bit of money, or you accept that woman’s existence, and the child, and then everyone pretends to get along and keeps living."

"Anna!"

Mrs. Monroe did not like these blunt truths from Anna Morgan.

"Your dad isn’t that heartless, he’s your father!"

"My dad could cheat and even get that woman pregnant. You really think, as the Family Head of The Morgan Family, he hasn’t calculated every step?"

Anna Morgan looked at Mrs. Monroe, finding it all a bit ironic.

Her feelings for Mr. Monroe had suddenly stopped mattering so much after she woke up from a car accident.

She looked at Mrs. Monroe, who was staring blankly, and her eyes reddened.

Anna Morgan had once been the Pearl in Miles Morgan and Mrs. Monroe’s palms; she’d thought she always would be.

"The reason I didn’t contact you the last few days was because I had a car accident."

Mrs. Monroe immediately sat up straight. She frantically checked Anna Morgan over. "When did this happen? Were you badly hurt?"

"When I went to the Imperial Capital with Finn Chandler."

Went to the Imperial Capital?

Mrs. Monroe thought for a moment. Some time ago, Young Master Ford had been carried off by outsiders in collusion with Fiona Ford, and Anna had texted her, saying she was going to the Imperial Capital.

At that time her whole mind had been on Miles Morgan. Where her daughter went, what she was doing—she hadn’t cared at all.

Only now, hearing Anna Morgan mention the accident, did she remember.

"It’s fine now." Anna Morgan had forgotten to mention her memory loss, because there was nothing worth saying.

Even though there were many things she couldn’t remember, it didn’t affect her current life at all.

She reached out and gripped Anna Morgan’s hand tightly, her heart filled to the brim with guilt.

Mrs. Monroe froze for a second, not catching the implication in Anna Morgan’s words.

"If Dad wanted to know how I was, it’d be easy for him to find out. But I stayed in a hospital in the Imperial Capital for so long, and he didn’t make a single phone call."

"After I got back to Solaria, he still didn’t contact me."

Anna Morgan could see something was wrong with Mrs. Monroe; she knew Mrs. Monroe was wavering.

"Anna, let me think, let me think this over properly."

"Okay."

After Anna Morgan stayed and chatted with Mrs. Monroe a while longer, she walked out of the main building of The Morgan Family and couldn’t help stopping.

The Morgan Family used to be so lively.

A family of four, warm and harmonious; she was their Pearl, her brother’s precious little sister.

In the blink of an eye, everything had changed.

Anna Morgan let out a heavy sigh. She turned and started toward the main gates of The Morgan Family, when she saw a servant leading two girls over.

One was pure and ethereal, in a loose, plain white dress that just happened to conceal her slightly rounded belly.

The other looked seventy to eighty percent like her, bright and blazing.

They were truly a stunning pair of sisters.

"Miss Preston, there are steps here, go a bit slower."

The servant fawned over the elegant girl, smiling as he spoke.
