Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride
Chapter 1608 - 1595: Wherever Our Eyes Meet, That’s Forever—Having Relations Is Only a Matter of Time
Joseph Lancaster’s face was clouded with gloom, waking up early in the morning to find Emily Zimmerman sleeping beside him.
Fortunately, he had experience, and even though their bodies were touching, he was clear he hadn’t done anything.
Emily had been awake for a while, reluctant to get up because she craved the warmth of Joseph Lancaster, snuggling into his embrace, diligently sniffing his scent.
From ancient times, marriage decisions have been made by parents, and the families had already discussed it... sleeping in the same bed was only a matter of time.
University students not only have culture but also a more open mindset than girls their age.
Emily was enjoying Joseph Lancaster’s scent when a force almost pushed her off the bed.
Joseph quickly sprung up, his brow furrowed in displeasure.
"Who let you sleep in my bed!"
Emily also slowly got up, sitting on the bed in the same posture as Joseph, awkwardly smoothing her hair, "You did."
Last night, she originally intended to sneak a kiss, but as she pulled away, he pulled her back, kissed her on the forehead, and mumbled, "Be good, sleep, we can’t do anything now."
At the time, Emily thought Joseph was sober; otherwise, he wouldn’t have said such a rational thing.
Joseph’s eyes were faintly mocking, and suddenly, he let out a cold laugh, jeering.
"No need to play tricks; I see through your schemes."
He left this remark, not giving Emily a chance to explain, and got out of bed to head to the bathroom.
In his heart, he knew Emily’s goal was simply to create the illusion of a done deal, so he would comply under the pressure of both families.
Heh, too bad, she miscalculated.
He wasn’t a lamb to the slaughter, nor would he be manipulated!
After washing up, when Joseph came out of the bathroom, Emily was still sitting on the bed, eyes fixed on the bathroom’s direction, idly picking at the sheets.
Joseph let out a slight snort and turned to leave the bedroom.
Emily hurriedly followed, wearing high-heeled sandals, sprinting to keep up with Joseph.
When they got downstairs, Joseph suddenly realized he had been "set up." His parents and Emily’s parents were sitting on the couch downstairs, seemingly waiting for the two of them.
"You two are up. Emily, did you sleep well last night?" Lorelei Howard stood up, enthusiastically welcoming them.
Bodhi Lancaster and Augustus Zimmerman were both sitting on the couch, watching the two come down the stairs together, not speaking.
Isabella Fletcher also stood up, wanting to say something to her daughter but hesitated.
"It was quite comfortable."
Emily glanced at Joseph secretly, her face showing a bashful smile, then came to her parents, "Dad, Mom, why are you here so early?"
"Emily, how could you... sigh!"
Isabella had just started speaking when she sat back on the couch, looking disgruntled.
They just started dating and already living together; how would her in-laws respect them!
Understanding Isabella’s thoughts, Lorelei Howard returned to sit beside Bodhi Lancaster, smiling, "In-laws, no need to worry, Emily and Joseph are going to get married sooner or later; being intimate is only a matter of time."
"We didn’t do anything!" As soon as Lorelei finished speaking, Joseph, who hadn’t spoken, began to talk, standing at the staircase entrance, his expression serious, his words firm.
...
Lorelei’s smile froze on her face, and the four elders glanced over simultaneously.
Looking at the four confused elders, Joseph solemnly said, "I was drunk last night and had no idea how she ended up in my bed. Also, my clothes remained intact, so there’s no need for you to suspect I did anything to her!"
After Joseph finished speaking, Augustus Zimmerman’s face immediately turned sour.
