Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride
Chapter 1574 - 1565: As Far as the Eye Can See, It’s Everlasting: Keep Bearing Children Until It’s a Boy
Worried that her husband Joseph Lancaster might overthink, Violet Zimmerman did not mention that her younger brother-in-law had bought her fish and stayed for lunch, but Joseph still noticed.
In early winter, every household kept their doors and windows tightly closed. As Joseph came home from work, he immediately caught the scent of fish.
"Hmm? Why does it smell like fish? Violet, did you buy it yourself? Why didn’t you call me? I could have brought it after work."
Before Violet could say anything, the servant waiting at the door spoke, "Family Head, it wasn’t Madam who went, it was the Second Young Master who brought it over."
Joseph showed no change in expression. He slipped off his shoes and put on slippers, smiling as he asked, "Oh, it was Joseph who brought it over. Violet, why didn’t you keep him for lunch?"
Violet pressed her lips together, her voice low when she spoke.
"I did. Joseph had lunch here before he left."
Joseph paused slightly while putting on the other slipper. His phoenix eyes narrowed briefly but quickly returned to normal. He shuffled in, still smiling.
"Hmm, I only have one brother like Joseph. Get along well with him."
At dinner, Joseph looked to be in a good mood, eating two bowls of rice. After finishing, he casually said, "Take your time eating; I’m heading back first," and got up to leave.
Back at his place, Joseph changed into home clothes and lay down on the bed, leaning against the pillow as he listened to music and looked at the movie ticket in his hand.
The movie starts at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon, just in time to go after lunch. After watching the movie, I’ll take Sister-in-law to the store to buy some of her favorite snacks, then come back just in time for dinner...
Joseph’s lips curled up slightly as he planned his schedule for the next day.
...
These days, Violet Zimmerman craved sour food, even finding the sauerkraut at dinner not sour enough.
Already tucked in bed, she suddenly wanted candied hawthorn, looking up at the man who seemed to be deep in thought.
"Daxton, I want to eat candied hawthorn."
Joseph snapped back to reality, glanced down at her, and smiled, "Alright, I’ll get some for you."
"Wear more, don’t catch a cold."
Violet said with concern. Before getting up, Joseph tilted Violet’s chin over and kissed her, smiling as he spoke.
"I will be careful. If I catch a cold, I’ll give it to you."
Joseph put on a coat and left. A few minutes later, he returned with a skewer of candied hawthorn, handing it to Violet while smiling, "Why is so much missing, did you give some to the servants?"
Violet took a bite of a hawthorn, saying, "I gave one to each, and left the rest for myself."
Joseph was momentarily stunned, looking at Violet in disbelief, but suddenly laughed, "Eating so many, can your stomach handle it?"
Violet nodded while chewing the hawthorn, "It doesn’t feel sour enough yet."
Joseph lifted the blanket and leaned against the bed, pulling Violet over, "Violet, with you liking sour so much, it must be a son this time."
"Really?" Violet turned her gaze to Joseph, her eyes shining with joy, "Daxton, you know, I love boys the most. My mom always said girls are a loss, they grow up to marry someone else. Back then, I thought when I get married, I must have a boy."
Joseph’s phoenix eyes flickered, asking nonchalantly, "What if it’s a girl?"
"If it’s a girl, I’ll keep having children until it’s a boy!"
As soon as the words were out, Violet was momentarily stunned.
