Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride
Chapter 1563 - 1554: As Far as the Eye Can See, Everlasting Love: Could She Be Pregnant?
In the next few days, Joseph Lancaster was not seen during meals. It wasn’t until the weekend, when Violet Zimmerman got up late and came over to the old man’s place to eat, that she encountered Joseph Lancaster.
Joseph happened to be riding his bicycle over and wanted to turn around when he saw Violet walking out of the gate, but it was too late.
Seeing that it was only Violet alone exiting, his panic lessened a bit. He originally planned to pretend not to see her and just ride past, but his actions betrayed his thoughts.
The young man pulled his brake and stopped in front of Violet with a screech, startling her so much that she halted in her tracks.
Holding the handlebars with both hands, one foot supporting on the ground while the other was on the pedal, Joseph turned his head and asked,
"Where is my brother?"
"Oh, your brother went on a business trip last night."
While speaking, Violet dared not meet Joseph’s eyes, wearing a camel woolen coat that Daxton Lancaster had just bought for her, twisting her hands together and hanging her head low.
When she went to see Joseph it was always at night, in the daytime like this, she didn’t know how to interact.
For some reason, upon hearing that his brother went on a business trip, Joseph felt inexplicably good. He immediately turned his bike around in preparation to leave and said, "Sister-in-law, hop on, I’ll give you a ride."
The old man’s place wasn’t far, but walking would take about ten minutes.
"Get on, hurry up!" Joseph urged impatiently, showing no intention to leave.
Violet fiddled with her fingers, biting her lip, hesitated for a moment and said, "You go ahead, I’ll walk there on my own."
Finishing her words, she lowered her head and walked towards the old man’s place.
Violet walked quickly, covering several meters in just a few seconds.
Watching her back, Joseph sighed, pedaled up the bicycle, and caught up, slowing down beside Violet, "Get on, I’ll take you there, it’s cold out, don’t catch a cold."
"You go ahead, I’m not in a hurry." Violet still kept her head low, even walking close to the side of the road, obviously trying to keep a distance from Joseph.
With another sigh, Joseph got off and started pushing his bicycle alongside Violet.
Before, Violet hadn’t thought much about it. Sometimes Joseph would do something intimate, and she just considered him as a kid.
But now...
Violet stopped, "Joseph, you go ahead, you’re wearing too little, don’t catch a cold."
Knowing Violet was trying to send him away, Joseph suddenly felt a dull ache in his chest, glanced at Violet, then mounted his bike and left.
Watching Joseph’s back quickly fade into the distance, Violet finally breathed a sigh of relief. It wasn’t until Joseph stopped in front of the old man’s gate that she continued walking forward.
Violet had overslept, and it was already half an hour past Lancaster Family’s breakfast time. Normally by this time, everyone in the Lancaster Family would have finished eating.
When Violet walked in, only mother-in-law Lorelei Howard was still sitting at the dining table.
Whether it was out of respect for the old man or as he said, a change in attitude, when Lorelei saw her walk in, she astonishingly asked, "Why so late, are you feeling unwell?"
Violet greeted the old man, then smiled and said, "No, Mom, I overslept this morning."
Lorelei sized Violet up from head to toe, suspiciously asking, "Overslept? Could you be pregnant?"
Since marrying into the family, Violet had never overslept before.
Just after Lorelei finished speaking, at the nearby dining table, Joseph Lancaster sprayed out the millet porridge he had just sipped.
