Chapter 581: Chapter 570: Epilogue (8)

Chloe Marshall looked at her, suddenly feeling that Dorothy had become much more mature.

“Mommy’s fine, just a little unwell.”

“Are you feeling any better?”

Chloe Marshall nodded.

“Sweetie, you have school tomorrow. Why don’t you go back to your room and get some sleep? It’s best to go to bed early so you can wake up early. If you stay up too late, you won’t be able to get up in the morning.”

Dorothy Ellsworth glanced at her daddy. Ethan Ellsworth bent down and picked her up. “Alright, it’s time for our Dorothy to go to sleep.”

He carried her back to her room and tucked her in.

“Mwah. Sleep well.” Ethan Ellsworth gave her a kiss.

“Daddy, I want to kiss you too.” She wrapped her arms around Ethan Ellsworth’s neck and kissed him, then let go. “Daddy, go take care of Mommy. She looks like she’s really uncomfortable.”

Ethan Ellsworth nodded. “Okay.”

He turned off the table lamp, then closed the door and returned to their bedroom.

Chloe Marshall took a deep breath, feeling exceptionally unwell. “Boss Ellsworth, I don’t think we can keep this baby. But… I can’t bear the thought of not keeping it.”

Ethan Ellsworth took her cold hand. “I’ll respect your decision. If you want to have it, we’ll have it. If you don’t, we’ll terminate the pregnancy.”

Chloe Marshall was at a loss. “I don’t know either. Let’s talk about it again in a few days.”

Ethan Ellsworth got into bed and held her as she fell asleep. “I’m here. Everything will be okay.”

Chloe Marshall nodded. Leaning against his chest, her stomach finally started to feel a little better.

When she woke up the next morning, Ethan Ellsworth asked, “Does your stomach still hurt?”

Chloe Marshall shook her head. “It doesn’t hurt at all anymore, Boss Ellsworth.”

Ethan Ellsworth breathed a sigh of relief. “That’s good.”

The two of them went downstairs for breakfast and then took Dorothy to school together. Days like these were exceptionally peaceful.

After coming back from the school, Ethan Ellsworth took Chloe Marshall to a place he had just purchased.

It was a standalone, multi-story building in a prime location on Goldrun Road.

Although it was just a small, multi-story building, the price was extremely high.

The two of them stood below, tilting their heads up to look at it.

“Honey, this is where I plan to set up my film production company. The location is secured, and it’s being renovated right now. After the renovations are done, I’ll start recruiting the team.”

Chloe Marshall looked it over. “It’s great, Boss Ellsworth. I think it’ll work.”

Ethan Ellsworth took her hand. “Chloe, let’s not go inside. You’re pregnant, and the smell of the renovations isn’t good for the baby. Anyway, your contract with the agency is terminated now, so I can take you wherever you want to go.”

“Boss Ellsworth, I want to see where you went to college.”

Ethan Ellsworth chuckled. “That’s easy. I went to university right here in our city. I studied music, but somehow, I ended up getting into acting later on.”

They got in the car. Along the way, Ethan Ellsworth recalled amusing stories from his school days and told them all to Chloe Marshall. From his tone, Chloe could almost hear how happy he must have been back in college.

“I never went to college. My mom died young, and my dad worked from dawn till dusk at construction sites. I stayed home to manage the house and also worked. Zeke was the only one in school, but he didn’t apply himself and his grades weren’t very good.”

“My grades weren’t great either. I just barely managed not to fail any classes. Look, this is it—the alma mater of me, Young Master Grant, and Young Master Hawthorne.” After getting out of the car, he said, pointing to the university’s name.

“The campus is huge, Boss Ellsworth. The main gate is closed. Can we get in? It looks like it’s summer break, isn’t it?”

“It’s fine. Other people can’t get in, but me? Of course, I can come and go as I please.” He was all smiles.

Chloe Marshall pursed her lips, a faint sense of anticipation growing within her.

Sure enough, getting in was incredibly easy.

For Chloe Marshall, who had never attended university, the campus felt somewhat sacred.

“Boss Ellsworth, I’ve seen your old photos online. You were really handsome, so fresh-faced and full of sunshine.”

“A true hero doesn’t boast about past glories. Isn’t your husband handsome now?”

“You are handsome. Now you have a mature kind of handsome. If you weren’t married, so many girls would be willing to marry you. Because you’ve managed to be the ‘cleanest’ man in the entertainment industry.”

He turned back to look at her and asked with a smile, “What do you mean by the ‘cleanest’ man in the entertainment industry?”

Chloe Marshall looked at him earnestly and replied, “Many male celebrities, especially the leads in idol dramas, use their pretty-boy looks and long legs to charm their fans. But their kind of handsome is different from yours. They project a false image, making fans who don’t know any better think they’re sunny, cute, handsome, and clean. But, Boss Ellsworth, you know what they’re really like in private. You’re different. In over a decade in the entertainment industry, you never slept around. Your private life is unbelievably clean. We fell in love, got together, and had Dorothy. Even during the years we were apart, you remained completely devoted to me. Isn’t that enough to prove how ‘clean’ you are?”

He pressed his lips together and hugged her. “Quality over quantity. Chloe, do you know what that means? If you can’t find the one you love, if you can’t wait for the one you’re meant to be with, it’s better to be alone.”

Chloe Marshall wrapped her arms around his waist. “Boss Ellsworth, for me to be able to spend my life with you… heaven has truly been too kind to me. I’m so grateful.”

He kissed her on the forehead, then said with a laugh, “My dear wife, come on. I’ll take you to see the dorm room we used to live in. Did you know? Because Young Master Grant is such a neat freak, no student has ever lived in our old room since we left. That’s just how he is. He doesn’t allow anyone else to touch things he’s used or places he’s lived. The bedding in there must be covered in a thick layer of dust by now.”

Chloe Marshall nodded excitedly. “Okay!”

They entered the dormitory building, and Ethan Ellsworth led her up the stairs all the way to the third floor, to the room at the very end of the hall.

He took out the key he had gotten from the dorm matron and opened the door.

Surprisingly, the scene inside was exactly the same as when they had graduated. As expected, a thick layer of dust covered everything, showing that no one had lived there since.

There were triple-decker bunk beds, with a ladder at the foot of each bed to climb up.

“Boss Ellsworth, which one was your bed?”

“I had the second bed. The first was Young Master Grant’s, and the third was Young Master Hawthorne’s.”

Chloe Marshall opened the window. It was as if she had traveled through time. Standing there, she felt like she had been transported back to the days when Boss Ellsworth was a student.

Ethan Ellsworth opened a drawer, took out a photo frame, and said with a smile, “Chloe, look who this is.”

Chloe Marshall took it. “Is this Catherine Callahan and Young Master Grant?”

“Yep. I can’t believe Young Master Grant didn’t take this frame with him. Look, don’t you think Catherine Callahan’s face before her plastic surgery was much easier on the eyes than the ghastly way she looked when she died?”

Chloe Marshall nodded. “Catherine Callahan used to look so pure and innocent. It’s just that her heart wasn’t in the right place, and her paranoia drove her to her own death.”

“Back then, Catherine Callahan and Young Master Grant actually had a great relationship. She brought about her own ruin. I never had a good feeling about the two of them, but Young Master Hawthorne used to be on good terms with Catherine Callahan and was very supportive of them. Then, for some reason, Catherine Callahan broke up with Young Master Grant. It wasn’t until Nora appeared that she showed up again. It was all rather unbelievable.”
